"Original knob missing from accent dial. Still functions as it should though.
Previous owner started a mod (as seen in the photo) on this 202 but didn't see it through. Does not affect playback at all. I've been covering it with tape.
This is an analog synthesizer/sequencer. It sounds very much like the TB-303 and SH-101 bass synths. Sometimes considered the 'poor man's 303'. It has a very evolved form of TB-303 like programming (more like the MC-4) and SH-101 like controls of the VCO, VCF, VCA, LFO, Envelope and Mixer sections. The LCD display is a great feature too.
The MC-202 was sort of a next-generation TB-303. So the idea was to program sequence/patterns into it internally which would give you those 303 basslines that we've come to love. But programming the MC-202 is a bit too intense and over done for the simple monophonic bass line. However you can control it externally by hooking up a MID-CV/Gate converter. Then you basically have yourself an SH-101!
The sequencer is actually a 2-channel CV/gate sequencer, with both channels being capable of driving a separate external synth. It's a very useful unit, also, for its DINsync capabilities; it can receive on one port, and send over two, and also can 'split' DINsync to branch a sync signal out to multiple devices"

Adding a Eurorack Oscillator to the Arturia Microbrute
Published on Sep 17, 2015 Carl Mikael's Cabinet of Curiosities
"By adding an extra oscillator to your Arturia Microbrute you can greatly expand the sonic possibilities of this already competent synth. I’ll show you how to use the mod matrix to connect oscillator modules from Pittsburgh Modular. By tuning the oscillators and using pitch, envelope and LFO CV - I get the Microbrute, the Waveforms and the DNA Symbiotic Waves modules to sing beautifully together."
Creating Polyrhythms with the Elektron Octatrack
Published on Sep 10, 2015 Carl Mikael's Cabinet of Curiosities
"By using polyrhythms you can create unpredictable and less repetitive rhythms and beats. I’ll make my case in the tutorial using the Elektron Octatrack sequencing a Nord Drum 2. Concepts are transferable to a range of other sequencers and synths, of course.
The content is hard to explain verbally - I use graphs and examples extensively.
I work mainly in the midi sequencer of the Octatrack, working heavily with the scale settings - if you need to refresh your skills on that, have a go at the Octatrack Manual in chapters:
Scale Setup (. p 93 in manual v 1.25)
The Midi Sequencer (p. 111 in manual v. 1.25)"
Sounds of Old School Gaming on the Analog Keys
Published on Sep 4, 2015 Carl Mikael's Cabinet of Curiosities
"Recreate the sounds of home computer gaming from the eighties. I’ll use the Elektron Analog Keys to emulate the sound characteristics from the Commodore SID chip of C64 and C128 fame. I’ll show some examples of how to get that chippy, nostalgic, vintage sound. I’ll walk you through the creation of a bass-, lead-, kick- and snare drum patch.
If you’re new to the Analog Keys/Four or subtractive synthesis, you might want to read up in the Elektron Analog Key/Four manual. Look into Appendix A: Synth Track Parameters"

"Headphones highly recomended. An afternoon improvisation, messing around with 7/8 time signature.
Gear used: Waldorf Blofeld , Arturia Microbrute through Eventide H9, Elektron Machinedrum, Akai mpc500 as main sequencer, Korg Ms2000, Clavia Nord Modular G2 and DSI Tetr4. Hardwire DL7 and RV8 were used on the Tetra."
