serge shift
Published on Nov 3, 2015 zack dagoba
"Just got the mighty Serge back from Keith, who did a TON of work on it - its needed some love considering I have never had anything fixed on it since I put it all together - some of those panels I got 15 years ago or more! Doesn't time fly when your having fun..
See http://myblogitsfullofstars.blogspot.... for more"
"This patch uses the Analog Shift Register to delay a sequencer pattern by 2 steps before going to a 2nd oscillator. They both go into the Wilson Analog Delay which is being VC'd by the sequencer too"

Roland Boutique Audio Test
Published on Nov 2, 2015 Daniel Davis
"Just a quick test with the JX-03 and JU-06, each running a sequence. Audio recorded straight out of the JX-03 into the video recorder.
You can hear how wonderfully Roland emulated that noise chorus from the Juno 106.
I'm very happy with the way these these sound. Do they successfully emulate the vintage analog synths 100%? No. They don't. But they capture the vibe and spirit of what makes their vintage parents so amazing, and at the price they really can't be beat."

"Regarding the modifications, there are 2, both of which are switched via small rockers in the back.
Mods are:
1. Wider LFO range
2. White noise routed into VCF2 - gives a broader filter tone
The mods make an already deep synth even more versatile. These mods cost over a hundred dollars to install, and were done earlier this year, along with calibration and servicing.
For more information, please see Don Solaris' page, which was the basis for these mods. Just point google toward Don Solaris and CS-15 and you will find a detailed PDF.
All knobs and faders sound clear without crackling, with 2 exceptions: when warming up, occasionally the brilliance slider crackles, but not always, and once moved a few times, works perfectly. Similarly, the VCF 1 filter switch will occasionally make noise when moved, but when cycled through the switch, will work normally. These likely just need to be cleaned. Keys all work perfectly. The filter, even though it is 12 db/oct, sounds HUGE and this machine cranks out the most amazing bass. The CV/gate functionality on the back works for BOTH oscs and it also has an external in to process drum sounds for further mayhem..."

"This synth is in great shape, the only major problem is the tops of the two joysticks are broken off but they still function like normal. The sound of this can be very expressive due to its non typical layout. This keyboard was intended to be played as a lead synth and has a brute force way of shaping timbre that will cut through any mix. The sound is monophonic but big and if you are looking for a lead instrument that will go into some strange exotic places this thing is for you. The aftertouch is controlled by a tiny light sensor under the keyboard and can be programmed to bend notes or add vibrato. Also the quarter tone button on this synth is unique if you need to play exotic scales from a far away place. Its made of solid metal and wood and has a cool music stand that pops up on the back, This is surely a collectors item and only 1000 were ever made."
