"The serial number is #282955. Starting at serial #282880 the JP-8 came standard with a DCB port, as does this unit. These newer JP-8's are also referred to as JP-8A's.
Beginning with serial number #171700, the 12-bit DAC was upgraded to a 14-bit DAC.
This increased the resolution of the controls. Lucky for you, this unit is the superior 14 bit version.
The soldered-in battery typically lasts ten years or more, ranking these boards among the lowest-maintenance of their generation.
The battery on this unit was replaced last year, when serviced."

Gorgon Hat by Atomic Shadow

Gorgon Hat from Atomic Shadow on Vimeo.

"This piece features the RCA tone burst generator, played live through effects pedals (including Strymon El Capistan). The EMW-200 is playing through a Lexicon Vortex unit. The modular synth is being controlled by the SynthCube 266 SOU and clocked with a Krisp 1 LFO. The other modules in the patch are the STG Soundlabs Sea Devils filtering a DotCom Q106, Analog Crafstman Gristlier filtering the SSL DDVCO. Both Oscillators are routed through the Krisp 1 Ring Mod. The modular patch is mixed through the STG mixer on it's way to the Yamaha AW-1600 recorder. PSP Audioware plugs used in the mixing stage included the Spring Box and their excellent new EMT 244/245 reverbs.

No Gorgons were harmed in the making of this picture."

"SoundBow is a drawing based music instrument with a clean and simple visual interface.

Create music by drawing curves over the screen. Your gesture will be remembered and played back continuously. Each time your ever-looping gesture hits a string, a sound is produced. Apart from drawing, you can experiment by moving the strings around freely to rescale your instrument. Record any sound through the microphone and start creating melodies, soundscapes with your own voice. If you wish, you can also export your composition as an audio file.

SoundBow is made with free and open source tools. The interface is built with OpenFrameworks, for accurate polyphonic sound sample playback, the sound engine is made with SodaLib, a free Data Sonification Library built on top of libPd (Pure Data)."
