Novation Celebrates The Evolution of Circuit

"Novation remembers its favourite Circuit milestones.

Since its launch over a year ago, Novation’s commitment to updating Circuit has brought transformative new features to the product. From Sample Import and Sample Flip to the Components suite of browser-based utilities, Circuit’s capabilities have gone from strength to strength with every new Firmware release.

Novation is celebrating the success of Circuit with 'The Evolution of Circuit’. Working in collaboration with London design house Studio Murugiah, 12 key milestones of Circuit’s life have been immortalised in illustrated form. From the birth of Circuit, 'Start Something', to Mike Will’s leaked Instagram post, to the time KiNK and CALC jammed with Circuit in an apartment in Amsterdam, the illustrations chart Circuit’s path to the present day.

This will be revealed one tile a day over 12 days, so we invite you to check in daily and share your favourite milestones."

Kenton Celebrates 30th Anniversary as MIDI Solutions Specialist Par Excellence

"LONDON, UK: MIDI solutions specialist Kenton is proud to be celebrating its 30th anniversary — around 11,000 days since founder John K. Price began by building a cost-effective and well-specified MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) for his beloved 1979-vintage Oberheim OB-X programmable analogue polysynth to allow it to successfully communicate with the outside musical world — as of October 2016...

Who better, then, to reflect upon past glories and future developments than Kenton Director John K. Price himself? “At Kenton we made our very first product in 1986, a MIDI retrofit kit for the Oberheim OB-X synthesizer; since then we have been committed to producing excellent and innovative products for musicians,” maintains the inventive individual who started the ball rolling all those years ago, adding: “Over the last three decades our products have been used worldwide in many situations — from studios and stages to home use — by professional, semi-pro, and hobby musicians alike, and we are immensely proud of our longstanding reputation for both quality and reliability.

“Nothing matters more to us than our customers, and so we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of those who have supported us and allowed our company to grow and flourish for the last 30 years. We have some exciting new developments to announce in the near future, and we look forward to solving MIDI problems for many more years to come.”

Cave Birds (Modular Synth Soundscape)

Published on Oct 21, 2016 Autotross

"This patch started with my wife and I creating some bird calls as a learning exercise.

The Q960 sequencer is triggered with a key press and does a little 3-step chirp - some random pitch sample and hold is also added in. More randomness is added to the Corsynth Dual Loopable Envelope's attack & decay, which controls the Synthcube SEM filter.

We then added some white noise wind filtered by the Corsynth Lowpass Filter, which is swept randomly by the same sample and hold (with a bit of slew).

Finally, rainy drip-drops come straight out of the Mutable Instruments Braids (MU version by FSFX) via the Particle algorithm.

And that's it, Cave Birds. Enjoy!"
