Propellerhead Releases LAYERS Quadrasonic Sample Player - Rack Extension

Published on Sep 14, 2017 Propellerhead

"Propellerhead Releases Layers Rack Extension

Get inspired and create more music by layering pristine audio samples of sought-after synths from the 80’s and 90’s

Stockholm, Sweden, September 14, 2017 – Propellerhead today released Layers, a new Reason Rack Extension. Layers Quadrasonic Sample Player is a virtual sample collection of vintage synthesizers, re-imagined in a modern, creative instrument. You can access new sounds and get inspired by layering and sculpting pristine audio samples from classic 80’s and 90’s synth keyboards to create new music.

“Layers is a new type of Rack Extension instrument that provides great sounding samples from some of the most sought-after synths,” stated Mats Karlöf, Propellerhead Product Manager. 'In addition to the great sounding samples, Layers also offers the flexibility to create and design your own sounds or access an expansive library of patches from expert sound designers.'

The bulk of the Layers sample set was created by recording a collection of rare and sought-after synthesizers from the golden age of analog. The instruments sampled include Alesis Andromeda A6, Roland Juno-60, Jupiter-4, Korg Poly-800, Moog Prodigy, Waldorf Microwave, and Oberheim Matrix, to name a few*.

With four separate layers of samples, comprehensive effects and modulation, and a built-in step sequencer to trigger your sounds, Layers is the instrument that will bring out your best ideas when you need them. You can skip straight to the music with Layers’ built-in patches from expert sound designers, or get creative and create your own sounds from Layers’ first-class sample sets. With an easy-to grasp interface, it’s easier than ever to bring out your own rich, evolving synth sounds to suit your musical needs.

For a limited-time only, Propellerhead is offering a 30% off discount for Layers until September 30, 2017.

The Klirrfaktor: VCV Rack - a complete track

Published on Sep 13, 2017 TheKlirrfaktor

"I tried to make a complete track with VCV Rack.
At least I got a 8 track recording in Logic Pro.
VCV Rack is nice and behaves mostly like a real modular system - but arranging live with only one (:D) mouse is challenging.
I wasn't able to get the harmonic stuff in tune (maybe there will be a Quantizer someday ...) - the sequencer knobs are to small or maybe the resolution is not high enough - I don't know.
But hey - it's beta and free - so what ;)

You can download the patch here: http://www.theklirrfaktor.com/downloa...

See the VCV label directly below for more.

It will sound different on your system because i mixed it (EQ, Reverbs etc...)"

Expert Sleepers General CV - chords

New DETECT-Rx & CLONE Eurorack Modules from Steady State Fate

"DETECT-Rx features three useful utilities to expand your modular capabilities.

EXTRACT-R is a voltage controlled comparator with three selectable range settings, LINE LEVEL, 5V and 10V. A Threshold knob sets the trip point to extract a 10V gate signal. CV input for allows for PWM and voltage control of the comparator threshold.

RECTIFY-R is a simple positive voltage rectifier for octave-up and rectifying bipolar signals into positive only signals.

DETECT-R is a versatile Envelope Follower with three selectable frequency ranges, an additional envelope smoothing control and an input gain control offering up to 27dB of input gain to accommodate line and low level signals - including med to hi output guitar pickups.

Some convenient Jack normalizations are provided:

Patching into the DETECT-R only; will normalize the input into the EXTRACT-R and RECTIFY-R, providing all outputs from a single input.

Patching into the EXTRACT-R only; will normalize the GATE output into the Envelope DETECT-R input, producing an extracted GATE based envelope at the EXTRACT-R's output.

Using the Gate output into the Envelope DETECT-R input provides an additional following method based on variable Gate Extraction from the program material.

All normalizations break if additional inputs are utilized."

"CLONE is a 3hp, High fidelity Multiple featuring two 1x4 buffered multiples.

Multiple B is normalized from multiple A to provide 1x8 multiple capability.

CLONE allows for signal multiplication with extremely low degradation and each section is capable of driving an equivalent load impedance of 300Ohms without signal loss or distortion.

We use audiophile grade active components to ensure signal integrity and fidelity across the audio and low frequency spectrum, ensuring zero loss of your multiplied signals.

In light of modular making it's way into polyphonic territory, 1:4 multiples are necessary to accommodate 4 voice polyphonic modular systems."

The video breaks down like this:

Bubblesound Instruments Releases 141 EG/VCA/LFO Eurorack Module

"The 141 is a EG/VCA/LFO that fills in gaps and helps clear out some case clutter.

The Envelope Generator is based around the Roland SH101/M-140 era transistor EG giving the 141 a very snappy feel.

The EG is sent to the ENV OUT and to a VCA for the velocity sensitivity section of the circuit. The VEL IN is normalized to +12V, so when there is no input the VEL OUT is the same as the ENV OUT. But when positive voltage is applied to VEL IN the output of VEL OUT will vary as the voltage varies. The 141 ships set up for a 0-5V inout for the velocity sensitive VCA. This makes is compatible with most analog sequencers and modules from companies like Expert Sleepers. There is a 0-10V jumper setting on the back to make the 141 compatible with the Beat Step Pro and other CV sources that put out 0-10V.

The INV OUT is an inverted output of the EG with a range of 0 to -10V.

An Audio VCA is included and normalized to the EG by the 2 switches near the Audio Input. The VCA has Linear and Expo responses and the CV can either be the normal EG output or the velocity sensitive EG.

The LFO has a range from about 10 second to a little over 200Hz. The Triangle and Square outputs are always active. The Square is normalized to the Gate IN and when there is nothing plugged into it the LFO loops the EG. When an external Gate is plugged in the Sync switch can sync the LFO to the external gate or allow it to run freely.

Width - 6HP
Depth - 35MM
Draw - +60mA -50mA
LFO Range: 10 sec - 200 Hz
EG Range
Attack - 1.5MS - 4 seconds
Decay - 4MS - 12 seconds
Sustain - 0-10V
Release - 4MS - 12 seconds"
