"It is a 3-OSC monophonic precise equivalent of infamous western MINIMOOG MODEL D, produced in the USSR in 1986 by Elektroizmeritel military factory in Zhitomir. Altair-231 is a refined version of another well-known soviet analog synthesizer Estradin-230. Both synths has identical electronic architecture, functionality and rich sound palette. Estradin-230 was manufactured from early to middle eighties and then Estradin factory changed synth`s design (new casing) and labelled it as "Altair-231". So Estradin-230 & Altair-231 are the same machines only in different bodies.
Synth has 4-octave keyboard (F-C) with velocity (sensitivity assign to vibrato effect). For live performance there is a wheel which provides pitch shift. ALTAIR-231 is based on 3-VCO (OSC-3 can work as the modulator), 1 VCF (lowpass 24dB/oct) with ADSR, 1 VCA, 3 LFO, noise generator (white/pink), glide, memory. It has an EXTERNAL INPUT allowing to use FILTER and GENERATORS with OTHER INSTRUMENTS such as guitars, synths, etc! ALTAIR-231 consists of 5 main sections - OSC, MIXER, MODULATION, FILTER and AMP."

Roland System-500 510 Synth Eurorack Module
Published on Jun 25, 2018 once upon a synth
"Tutorial and overview of the new Roland 510 from the System-500 series of eurorack modules. This series is heavily inspired by the old System 700 and 100m modulars from the 70s and 80s. The 510 is a combo VCO VCF and VCA and can be treated either as a standalone synth voice or as 3 independent modules in one. In this video I go over the front panel and do some simple demos."
Matrixbrute: Sequencing/Incidental Music
Published on Jun 25, 2018 Kris Lennox
"Short sample of incidental music from a project I'm working on at present.
Good sound. The lead/2nd line is intentionally slightly clangorous as it is tuned slightly 'out'.
Best

DFAM Drifting into ambience
Published on Jun 25, 2018 Robin Rimbaud-Scanner
"First play with the new Moog DFAM, a wonderfully inspiring musical tool. So far removed from being a simple 'drum machine.' Here I layered three live recordings of the DFAM processed through the Strymon El Capistan. Please try and listen on headphones if possible to capture the slowing ebbing away of the sound for the closing passage as it'll be lost on a computer speaker :-D"

- How did you come to use synthesis in your music?
When we first started making music, about 8 years ago we would use more loops than synthesized sounds and were quickly running out of new ideas. We realised for electronic music to sound good and uniquely ours, we needed to use traditional (subtractive synthesis/sampling, etc) and non-conventional methods (additive/FM/granular, etc) alike to generate ideas and sounds.
We also figured that these sounds could be more human-like if we incorporated modulations to add expression like with most physical instruments. Besides, we come from a background that’s more about curiosity and being musically inclined rather than being formally trained so making electronic music seemed like the right choice and a whole lot more fun than learning to play the piano, no regrets!
Out of sheer need to be more creative and to find "our" sound, we started to mess around with VSTs and quickly got into the analog and semi-modular realm and the rest is history.
