Modular Expedition 29 -Modular Groovebox with Theremin, Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Thermae
Published on Sep 16, 2019 Modular Landing
"This is a jam composed of two takes, one with the modular and one with a Theremin going through the Chase Bliss Thermae pedal (for delay). The modular has a Pamela's workout clocking a Rene that is sequencing the Basimilus Iteritas Alter for the main synth sequence. That is going through the Polivoks filter, Echophon, and a Rabbit Hole FX phaser. Also being triggered by Pamela's workout is a tritone chord on the Intellijel Shapeshifter. Pressure Points is being used to trigger the Dixie and a long-release envelope from Peaks. Lastly, the theremin is going through a Chase Bliss Thermae for delay and pitch-shifting. Reverb and additional percussion was added ITB."

"Got a friendly message from none other than Mike Walters of Mystery Circuits. He had been tasked with repairing an odd-looking synth that resembled something I would make. Sure enough, it was the heavily modified Yamaha PSS-30 I had built on commission some 8 years ago."
Moog Introduces New Model 10 Synthesizer
Making a Moog Synthesizer Published on Sep 17, 2019 Moog Music Inc
"At the Moog Factory in Asheville, North Carolina, every Moog modular synthesizer is hand-built to its original factory specifications. Individual modules are brought to life just as they were nearly 50 years ago: by hand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiring methods. Each module is then hand-tested, finished with an aluminum panel, and placed into a custom tolex cabinet before the synthesizer leaves for its new home. Watch "Making a Moog Synthesizer" and step inside the Moog Factory to see how Moog synthesizers are built with love and care by the employee-owners at Moog Music.
Original score created by Bana Haffar and composed on a Moog Model 10 Synthesizer."

The Model 10 is faithful in every way to its 1971 counterpart (the first compact modular synthesizer model created by Dr. Robert Moog) – all the way down to its hand-soldered electronic circuits. The Model 10 is comprised of 11 discrete analog modules, including the 907 Fixed Filter Bank, revered for its vast sound shaping and timbral possibilities, and three 900-Series oscillators, the foundational sound behind Wendy Carlos’ Switched-On Bach and Isao Tomita’s Snowflakes Are Dancing.
The predecessor to the Model 15, the Model 10 design focuses on purity of sound, speed, and simplicity while providing the enormous sonic depth and dimension found only in a vintage Moog modular synthesizer."

Featuring their best, most responsive mini-keymech to date, all-new pitch and modulation touchstrips, a sustain pedal input, and 16 newly RGB-backlit pads, Launchkey Mini is the perfect platform for expressive performance and colour-matched clip launching. The new Fixed Chord mode and arpeggiator help you take your melodic and harmonic ideas in new creative directions, enabling chords to be triggered from single notes, and turning held chords into riffs, melodies and sequences on the fly; and thanks to the Capture MIDI button, you’ll never lose a note, even if you forget to hit record.
Spend less time clicking mouse buttons and more time making music, as Launchkey Mini’s device control and deep, intuitive integration with Live lets you step back from the screen and feel the beats. Start and stop playback and recording via the dedicated transport buttons, operate the mixer’s Mute, Solo, Volume, Pan and Send controls, and take instant control of Device Macros with eight rotary encoders – connect more deeply with your music, navigating and mixing your projects in a more tactile way than the mouse and keyboard can hope to match.
Launchkey Mini comes with everything you need to make complete tracks in the box, including sounds, virtual instruments and plug-in effects from AAS, Softube, Spitfire Audio, XLN Audio and Klevgrand, plus membership of Novation Sound Collective, bringing you new free content from our plug-in partners every couple of months. It also has a MIDI out port for connection to hardware synths and grooveboxes; and if Live isn’t your only production environment, included mapping templates make Launchkey Mini the ideal solution for on-the-go control of Logic, Cubase, Reason or any other HUI-compatible DAW, too.
Novation’s most compact and portable MIDI keyboard controller, Launchkey Mini gives you everything you need to start creating in Ableton Live – and it’ll fit in your bag. It’s available now through Novation stockists and direct from the Novation eStore* (*where applicable)."
