Elektron's Analog Heat Gets an Update
via Elektron
"With the new Analog Heat OS 1.20, we’ve added features that will expand the usability of our powerful sound processor, enabling more sound sculpting possibilities and experimentation. With these new features, plus a few improvements and bug fixes, 1.20 is here for your fiery leisure!
Class compliant audio over USB
We’ve added support for class compliant audio over USB. This means that you will have new possibilities when using the Analog Heat together with devices that supports class compliant audio (such as computers, phones or tablets) making it an even more flexible partner in your setup. Practically this means you now may use the unit in a bunch of different scenarios - for example, as an audio interface, recording the processed sound, or as a sound processor for your USB audio host. You can also use the USB audio host as a pre or post effect for the Analog Heat. The choice is yours.
Check out all the routing options in the new Audio Routing menu. Here you can setup up the audio routing in a multitude of different ways to suit your particular setup and needs.
Preset transfer
You can now export and import the Analog Heat’s presets and settings. This enables safe storage of your favorite presets and settings, and the possibility to reload them at your convenience.
For a full list of improvements and fixes, check the release notes.
Download Analog Heat OS 1.20 here.
If you use the Overbridge Beta, you will need to update to the new Overbridge release, which is also released today to support the new 1.20 firmware. You can download this at Elektronauts (log-in required)."

Quick Tip: Cowbell Eurorack Modular Synthesizer Patch Tutorial
Published on Oct 8, 2019 Perfect Circuit
"This quick tip shows how to make a cowbell sound inspired by the famous TR-808 cowbell.
You will need:
- a trigger source (clock or sequencer)
- one envelope generatorr (with exponential decay)
- two VCOs (voltage controlled oscillators) with square wave outputs
- a mixer with at least two channels
- one VCA (voltage controlled amplifier)
- a bandpass filter
The patch:
- square wave outputs of two detuned oscillators to mixer inputs
- mixer output to VCA audio input
- trigger source to trigger input of the envelope generator
- envelope generator output to VCA CV control
- VCA output to bandpass filter
- bandpass output is your cowbell
The TR-808 cowbell is one of the most distinctive of analog drum sounds, and it is a fairly simple sound to recreate with a modular synthesizer. Two square wave VCOs are mixed together and then run through a VCA. The VCA is opened with an exponential decay envelope and then run through a band pass filter.
To get a sound similar to the 808 you can tune your oscillators to 587 and 845 Hertz. The fun thing about building this sound in eurorsack is that you can try different tunings, or even modulate or sequence the tuning of the oscillators."

How-To: Sequence and control synths using the Arturia Keystep
Published on Oct 8, 2019 littleBIGsynths
"Hey guys! 🙂 Here is another tutorial on the Arturia Keystep! In this video, I show you guys how to use the "Kbd Play" function to sequence and play synths live at the same time. This is a nifty little feature that I think some people may have overlooked/missed! I have used it in a few jams and demos in the past and have received questions regarding this topic nearly everytime. lol So, I thought it would make a neat video.
I think the Keystep is a great keyboard and can be a great center piece of a simple setup: The simplicity and connectivity, along with some poly synths and a drum machine... definitely some fun to be had. lol"

Time to kick back and let this play in the background.
Been wanting to try the MS-20 w/ Temps Utile and Ornament and Crime. Using the KVP to achieve that. Beats from Basimilus Iteritas Alter. Kick from FR Transient. Some delay and reverb used.
Recorded direct to Tascam DR-05.
