New intellijel Tete Expander for the Tetrapad

Published on Dec 11, 2019 Intellijel

"Tête is the long awaited and highly anticipated expander for the Tetrapad. Tête takes control of Tetrapad’s mode selection and operating functions, allowing Tetrapad to do what it does best — act as a control surface, which it does both for controlling external modules and for interfacing with the advanced processing power within Tête.

Tête + Tetrapad operates in one of three different modes—

Voltages
Up to 16 voltage storage locations (grid) with 8 voltages stored at each location. You have the choice to record and playback your recall of these locations in a looper style (just play freely and spend arbitrary amount of time at any location) or as a clocked sequence (SH-101 style). Additionally you can traverse the matrix using the X and Y CV inputs to get Cartesian style sequencing. There is also variable slew that allows you to morph/glide between the values.

Notes
You can create sequences or loops in chord, scales or keyboard mode. The isomorphic keyboard grid can be set to 4, 12, or 16 notes. There are real-time performance looping, transposition and inversion capabilities via the CV inputs and dedicated loop button. In sequencer mode each step can be a tie, rest, or gate with size 25/50/75%. Basically we have created a way to very quickly and intuitively make chord sequences that are very musical and easy to manipulate. It is difficult to summarize in words but we will be sure to create some videos to demonstrate how easy and fun this is to play with. It definitely represents something unique in the landscape of Eurorack sequencers.

Combo
In this mode you can loop record your performance on any combination of the following functions: fader, bipolar fader, crossfader, euclidean sequencer, toggle switches or LFO. Kind of like Elektron style parameter locking but all of the motions is recorded continuously instead of just in slices. Instantly turn a simple patch into a highly animated and complex beast. The chosen function determines the type of signal (CV, note, trigger, gate, etc.) sent from each of Tetrapad’s eight independent outputs, while its multitude of multi-colored LEDs keep you informed of exactly what’s happening within each mode."

Fixed Filter Bank & Ring Modulator - Midweek Modular Moments

Published on Dec 11, 2019 DreamsOfWires

"No music, just sound examples - I keep finding new ways of using the AJH Synth Fixed Filter Bank 914, this time with an envelope, in a similar way to how I'd use one with a conventional filter, and with the Ring SM in the second half. Turn on Subtitles for step-by-step commentary.

Rather than controlling the VCF frequency/cutoff, the envelope is changing the mix level between the black and white bands of the FFB. This way you can sculpt two very different filtered timbres and morph between them, not simply varying the degree of filtering along a single band, as you might with a typical low pass filter, for example. Here I'm transitioning between a brittle sound, with the lower frequencies on the white side mostly off, and a bass-heavy sound on the black side. The FFB can produce some huge low frequencies, even from one VCO, but you can hear it more so in the second part of the video with the ring modulator sounds, where it starts clipping and sounding pretty awesome in my opinion. I keep finding new uses for this filter, and it's encouraging me to try new things.

I'm still only able to construct simple videos, as I'm editing them on an iPad whilst my MacBook is out of action, so there'll be no outdoor video footage for a while.

"Vintage Korg Trident synthesizer all original in good cosmetic condition with a few minor scrapes and chips on wood. I had it checked it out by a professional they stated as follows: String Bank is a bit quieter than the brass and synth banks, programmer write button will not light up, brass volume pot scratchy, synth volume pot scratchy, headphone volume pot scratchy, everything works as it should will need minimal pot cleaning and lubrication to be perfect working order..."

"*ddrum 2 sound synth module “brain". Tested — all buttons, both screens, MIDI in, all trigger inputs, all individual outputs, main outputs, headphone out — all working. Shows cosmetic wear, and missing the knob caps on the “control” knob and “ pad input sensitivity 4” knob. With attached power cable.

*5x sound pacs / packs (sound cards / carts / cartridges) —
2317: Assorted Perc.3
2315: Orchestral 1
23(23?): Snares/Kicks
2320: DrumKit 2
2314: Minneapolis 1

*ddrum Kit Selector. Tested screen, MIDI in, MIDI out, buttons / pads 1-8 — all working. Value change button / pad may not be working correctly or I may not know how to properly use it — may need repair. Drum clamp on back feels loose — may need repair / tightening. Shows cosmetic wear. With attached power cable.

*ddrum PadStation pads + electronic controller unit. Pads — every pad triggers, but depending how hard and where you hit them, they all may also trigger pad 1. Controller — tested screen, multipin trigger input (from pads), every trigger input led light, every button, MIDI out — all working. ddrumKick input — I do not have a ddrumKick to test it with, but was able to trigger this input sporadically with a dummy trigger. Shows cosmetic wear. With ddrum multipad cable & aftermarket AC power adapter (for the PadStation Controller).

*2 MIDI cables (to connect the PadStation Controller & Kit Selector to ddrum 2 “brain”)."
