Relax and tune into our live weekly improvised Drone Sessions. This seventh session involves a drone featuring two independent Buchla style complex and modulation oscillators starting in tune a couple octaves apart. As the oscillator frequencies drift apart by way of manual control, beating ensues. Listening to droning oscillators can serve as mindfulness sounds as there is no sudden changes in sound. Just smooth drifts in pitch and the resulting beat frequencies. Drones can also serve as an ambient track to have on while doing tasks that require intense focus. Drones are also great for a Sci-fi film soundtrack. The slow yet progressive nature of a drone performance can help one focus on tasks without distraction. The fact that we are manipulating these oscillators live and in collaboration helps the drone meander ever so smoothly in an evolving fashion as we are always reacting to one another's subtle movements. These movements are improvised so there is an unrehearsed and reactive ebb and flow to the tones generated.
The electronic music instruments used in this performance of modular drone music are the Buchla Music Easel, and a small system involving a Buchla clone model 259 Programmable Complex Waveform Generator, Buchla 292h Dual Lowpass Gate, and 281h Dual Function Generator in the Buchla LEM Powered 3 Boat.

Continua: the $100 Moog One
Published on Jan 11, 2020 NONsynth
"I've been obsessed with this Moog video with Paris Strother [posted here]: which features my favourite synth line / chord progression ever. I thought my love for this sound meant I needed to get a Moog One to be happy.
I wanted to see if I could recreate it using the new Audio Damage Continua plugin. In so doing, realized two things:
[1] Continua is my new favourite synth plugin. The oscillator Warp and Skew parameters are so good on a sine wave, introducing all sorts of additional harmonics. I'll be using these settings until I can't stand to hear them anymore.
[2] The sound from the original is amazing, but it's really the chord progression and playing that make it shine. I bet this Continua patch would come alive if Paris was playing instead of it being a midi sequence."

"Hello world, we are proud to introduce the new AtomoSynth Perceptron. It is an analog semi-modular synthesizer, it`s large patchbay lets you experiment and create not only a great variety of interesting and strange sounds but also classic warm analog sounds. It has an internal normalized patch so you can play it by USB midi, 5 pin midi or by CV/gate without any patch cable connected. Also it features a modulable delay effect for the final touch to your sound.
Specs:
Voltage controlled oscillator with pulse and saw wave forms.
Pulse width modulation control.
Square wave Sub oscillator.
Low Frequency Oscillator with triangle and square waveforms.
Voltage controlled Filter with Low pass and High pass simultaneous inputs.
Voltage mixer with positive or negative offset control.
Loopeable AR type envelope generator.
ADSR type envelope generator.
Built in modulable Delay effect.
Patch bay with 16 inputs and 16 outputs.
Midi and USB MIDI to CV/gate interface with 2 CV configurable outputs.
Random voltage generator assignable to CV out 2.
Dimensions: 322mm (W), 214mm (H), 76mm (D)"

"This listing is for a rare hand-painted House Targaryen version of the Electro Faustus EF109 Drone Thing Synthesizer, called the "Throne of Drones." (I've seen a Lannister version somewhere out there.) This Drone Thing is practically brand new, I've had it for a little more than a month and I just needed it for one project. Used exclusively in a non-smoking studio. I'm including a 9V Boss power supply.
From Electro-Faustus:
The Electro-Faustus Drone Thing EF109 is a noise maker par excellence for sonic mischief creating layers of drones that could fit in at hipster art gallery experimentation or mucking about with your friends with some chemical enhancement in the basement. Mostly...it's just so damn fun to play with!
It works by generating layers of tones which are layered on top of one another to generate some really interesting drone-y backdrops. There are 6 different oscillators which you can tweak the pitch of and toggle between, as well as Tone, Volume, and a Starve control which adds nicely to the weirdness. Add some reverb and delay and the thing just starts singing as you twiddle knobs.
And it just looks gorgeously sexy.
Insanely fun soundscape generation, this ain't music..it's chaos
Volume, Tone, Power Starve Global Controls
6 x Oscillators with Pitch and Toggle Controls
Made in the USA
Powered using Standard Boss Style 9V Adapter"
