Glitch Drums Jamming With Bass Station 2 AFX Mode
Published on Apr 11, 2020 Perplex On
"So much fun with BS2 and its #AFX mode. All sounds are coming directly from the #BassStation2 using its internal sequencer and heavy live tweaking of various parameters. Just added a little ambient drone afterwards using #Mononoke synth on the iPad."

"Creating, editing and playing sample chops is quick and easy on Gotharman's Little deFormer 3 groove box!

0:14 Sampling external audio
1:58 Adding start, end and chop points with the graphical waveform editor
4:53 Adding chops automatically
8:18 Sequencing sample chops via the keyboard
9:26 Deforming sequenced sample chops

Sample chopping is an important basic feature of any sampling groovebox, dating back to the classic Akai MPC, the Korg Electribe boxes and more recent devices like the Elektron Octatrack. Gotharman's Little deFormer 3 offers you three different ways to chop up your audio: manually with a graphical waveform editor, manually in real time and automatically. Chops can then be sequenced like any other sample and even mapped to the keyboard keys for quick and easy jumping between markers.

"Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 Rev 3.2 - Sounds & Presets | Synth HQ DEMO & TUTORIAL
Video demo of the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, a classic analog polyphonic synthesizer.
Today we show some of the famous sound of the Prophet 5. Demo of our Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev 3.2 Polyphonic Synthesizer In a lot of ways this needs no introduction. One of the most iconic poly synths ever made, and the first synth to offer true programmability with polyphonic architecture.
The Prophet 5 offers your basic amenities in a poly synth with 5 voices each with 2 VCO's, a low pass VCF, a VCA, two EG's, one LFO with multiple wave shapes available, with POLY MOD as the icing on the cake. This lets you make FM type sounds and is part of what makes the prophet 5 unique.
All music improvised for this demo is either live or running at 120bpm. The music is copyright free. My credit would be appreciated if used on your track!
Andy Whitmore started life as a top session keyboard player playing on over 50 hit records before turning his hand to music production. He went on to produce 14 top ten hits. He is a pro when it comes to synthesizers, and here explores the Prophet 5 as part of a brand new series.
One of the most iconic synthesizers ever, Andy’s experience with this classic dates back to the mid-‘90s, and he discusses the basics in his exploration of what makes the Prophet so great.

OBERHEIM XPANDER - Sounds & Presets | Synth HQ DEMO & TUTORIAL
Published on Apr 11, 2020 Andy Whitmore
Not sure why he compares it to the DX7 at the start, or why he calls it additive synthesis? You can enable the individual waveforms for each oscillator but that's not really additive synthesis. The Xpander and Matrix-12 are subtractive analog synths. On an additive synth like the Kawai K5 and K5000 series you typically add harmonics to make sounds.
"Oberheim Xpander analog synth demo, featuring various sounds & presets.
The Oberheim Xpander is a polyphonic analog synthesizer manufactured from 1984-1988, and is essentially a 6-voice desktop version of the Matrix-12. The Oberheim Xpander features 2 oscilllators per voice, linear FM, 5 LFOs, 15-mode filter, lag processor, 3 tracking generators, a ramp processor, 5 ADSR envelopes, CV/Gate to MIDI converter and more.
The Oberheim Xpander also features an extensive modulation matrix that allows for multiple sources and destinations to be routed accordingly. In addition, each of the six voices are completely independent, and can be configured to create a different timbre for each. There are also 6 separate audio outputs for the 6 voices. The Oberheim Xpander is a flexible, powerful and versatile analog synth with extensive digital control, allowing for the creation of all types of sounds - pads, textures, drones, leads, basses and a variety of experimental tones. It can store up to 100 patches and is considered one of the most flexible early analogs in terms of signal routing and modulation capabilities (outside of modular). The Oberheim Xpander (and Matrix-12) are not found for sale very often and often command high prices on the second hand market. They are a testament to Oberheim's desire to push the envelope forward in terms of features and flexibility within the realm of analog synthesis.

Roland Jupiter-4 Vintage 1979 Sounds & Presets | HQ DEMO & TUTORIAL
Published on Apr 11, 2020 Andy Whitmore
"This video demonstrates the sound and features of the Roland Jupiter-4 analog synthesizer. Enjoy!
The Roland Jupiter-4 is a very strong, agressive, massive, but also sweet sounding synth. The sound is really incredible for only one VCO with one Sub-VCO. In this this Demo you will listen to this wide range of sounds.
The Roland JP-4 came out 1978, mine is from Nov. 1979 with the later filter board.
The great features of the JP-4 are:
- extremely fast envelopes
- ultra fast LFO and also slow LFO to get FM sounds and very slow filter sweeps as well
- fantastic sounding filter with ultra fat and sweet self resonance
- stereo chorus, not so strong like in the Juno 6/60, but very musical
- nice arpeggiator with triggering by a sequencer or drum machine
- random S/H filter modulation
- fantastic versatile bender board
- you can trim the 4 voices and slightly detune them on the back of the unit to achieve a really fat sound
- polyphonic portamento
