New Motas-6 Synthesizer Demos

Published on May 7, 2020 MotasSynth

Previous demos here.

Playlist:

1. Motas-6 phase modulation with arpeggiator
This demo shows the arpeggiator playing with use of the VCO analogue phase modulation features.
2. Motas-6 micro-tuning demo with arpeggiator
This demo shows some of the 32 built-in micro-tunings on the Motas-6 synthesizer with the internal arpeggiator. Motas-6 also allows a further 32 user-defined tunings to be imported using standard MIDI tuning dumps (e.g. using Scala software).
3. Motas-6 synthesizer paraphonic playing demo
This video shows how chords of up to 3-notes can be played on the Motas-6 synthesizer. Motas-6 has 3 analogue VCOs each of which can be set to track independently allowing paraphonic playing.
4. Motas-6 synthesizer phase modulation demo
This video shows some of the phase modulation capabilities of the Motas-6 synthesizer.
Motas-6 allows analogue (or analog) phase modulation of oscillators 2 and 3 to create PM/FM type sounds. Oscillator 3 can be phase modulated by oscillator 2 which can be modulated by oscillator 1 so allowing more complex modulation sounds.
5. Motas-6 synthesizer vector morphing demo
This video shows the vector morphing feature of Motas-6 where 4 patches can be blended in real-time using external controllers such as MIDI control messages or CV inputs. A little external reverb has been applied to the audio output from Motas-6.

Ambient cassette w/ Moog Matriarch drone mode, Octatrack, Marantz PMD430, Eventide Space

Published on May 7, 2020 Jay Hosking

"A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by the drone mode on the Moog Matriarch. Here I recorded the drone to cassette tape via the Marantz PMD430, along with some mangled samples on the Octatrack. The sound of cassette tape is embedded in my psyche.

While I usually only play the Matriarch in drone mode when I'm looking to relax/decompress, I thought I'd record the results here. It's my first track of this sort, and in retrospect there are things I'd do differently, but as an exploration, I'm happy with this initial foray into droning ambient.

Thanks to friend Matt Campbell for lending me the Marantz.

Moog Matriarch + Eventide Space — drone synth
Elektron Octatrack MkII — samples, performance mixing (via its scenes)
Marantz PMD430 — recording and cassette sound

Written and performed within a 12-hour period, and uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master."

GleetchDrone Download Link

This is a follow-up to this post.

You can find the download here.

It looks like I messed up the link in the previous post. Apologies for that. For those curious as to why this sometimes happens, it's because I have to add http:// or https:// to any links that omit them in descriptions. Blogger doesn't automatically add them for you and when they are omitted the link ends up getting redirected back here. A similar thing happens with truncated links in YouTube and SoundCloud descriptions. If I simply make the link active it will go to the truncated link and fail. I have to click through and grab the full link. P.S. All of this adds up with 30+ posts a day, and is why I only link when necessary, and/or for supporting members of the site.

"This is a rack mount Prophet 5 with original Prophet 5 boards inside.

Before Studio Electronics became a synth manufacturing power house with their own designs, they racked
Minimoogs, TR-808's and TR-909's. And they specialized in racking the sequential circuits Prophet Five!
Studio Electronics have only added the MIDI functionality and updated the power supply.

This unit is fully functioning. All controls and dials have been tested and it has just been serviced. There are a few scratches as you can see on th photos and one rack corner is slightly bent - the inside is in excellent condition. This unit has only been used in a smoke free studio."

"As-new condition, no smoke, no gigging, private home studio. Latest OS and patches installed.

I am the original owner, purchased directly from John Bowen in 2013.

I am a noodler, so I have used this synth very lightly.

Keybed and knobs are as-new.

Sounds as good as they say i.e. 96Mhz sampling rate.

Both Black Octupus patch sets are on the SSD card (free + paid-for second set)

No problems electrically, mechanically, or cosmetically.

Accessories included:

- T-shirt
- Original manual
- A SSD card adaptor for working with the Solaris SSd card
- The original Sound on Sound article that reviews this synth"

"Moog Sonic Six - Vintage Analog Suitcase Synthesizer. Condition is Used. All parts working, could use some minor sound improvements and internal cleaning. All sliders, switches, and knobs are fully functional. Works totally fine in all departments but some minor adjustments wouldn’t hurt. Amazing physical condition..."
