Motas-6 being triggered by Czochralski Cells

video upload by Petajaja

"just a quick patch I made on the motas just to show an example of how much more than just a monosynth the Motas-6 really is.

all the sounds you can hear are from the motas other than some crappy bbd delay (that's actually better than a much more expensive one I had haha)

using the czochralski cells pulse outputs, I'm triggering different envelopes in the motas as well as clocking various sample and holds in its advanced mod matrix which then goes on to control the filter, the pitch of the AM of osc 1 amongst other things that I've now forgotten (boy can patches get deep on this thing!)"

New Batch of Synthfest UK 23 Videos

video uploads by sonicstate

Playlist: (you can use the player controls to skip around)

1. Synthfest UK 23: Sequential - Trigon 6 Desktop
At SynthFest UK 2023, we had the opportunity to chat with Chris from Sequential, a part of the Focusrite group. Chris introduced us to the Trigon 6 Desktop, the latest addition to Sequential's synthesizer lineup. This compact desktop version of the Trigon 6 packs a powerful punch, offering three oscillators and a distinctive Dave Smith ladder filter. Designed for those seeking a space-saving solution without compromising on sound quality, the Trigon 6 Desktop retains all the features of its larger sibling, including patch recall, a versatile effects section with various modulation possibilities, and the distinctive feedback control that allows you to sculpt sub-harmonic richness.

Trigon 6 Desktop Price: $2,499
2. Synthfest UK 2023: Calc And the Prophet X
At Synthfest UK 2023, we caught up with Calc from Sequential, and he gave us the lowdown on the Prophet X. Now, you might be thinking, Prophet X? Haven't we seen that before? Well, you're right, but this hybrid instrument has been quietly making waves in the music world. It combines digital and analog elements, with digital oscillators and a unique twist in the form of multi-sample-based instruments. Yes, you heard that right, it's not just your run-of-the-mill synth; it's a full-on sampler too, boasting an impressive 50 gigabytes of memory for your custom samples. You can treat it like a rompler, a sample player, or even use those samples as oscillators, creating a whole new realm of sonic possibilities.

Plus, it's packed with stereo goodness, allowing you to explore a wide soundstage with ease. It's not your typical synth, and that's what makes its a favourute of Calc's

Looking for some more info on the Prophet X? Check out Sequential's official page:

Motas-6 analogue synthesizer HPF Resonance Source & Wavefold Demos

Plastic Playhouse

"The Motas has a very unique feature in that the first low pass filter can obtain its resonance from the hi-pass filter, You have to play around with the filter routings to get it to ''work'' (obviously you can do what you want) but you can get some insane sounds from this.

In this video, all the sound is just coming from LPF1 and the other two filters are turned right down but they're still having an effect on the resonance character of filter 1 as you can hear.

I also make use of the mode where if you press page lock and value lock, the modulation settings are automatically mapped to the front panel so long as you keep those two locks engaged.. This makes it a breeze to tweak modulations and very fun / easy to find sweet spots with various parameters."

Motas-6 Analogue Synthesizer Wavefold Demo

"I made this video as I mainly just wanted to give an impression of what it might look like programming something on the Motas-6. It's a crazy deep synth but it's actually very easy to program..

Unfortunately this really isn't the best video showing that in that this wavefold-like stuff is a recent discovery for me and I'm still working on finding the sweet spots within it. I tried to just show as quickly as I could a large range of timbres that can be had from this one particular technique but again, there is so much range to this one particular approach that I've only ended up showing a very small selection.

I'm going to be doing quite a lot of videos on this synth, similar to this video, I'll be sure to approach this particular technique in a few different ways (drones next time) I'd been GASing for a wavefold synth in my set up but no more since I found I can get those kinds of sounds and more with the Motas."

Update: one more:

Motas-6 Analogue Synthesizer PM / Wavefold exploration demo

"Seeing as the other video on this PM wavefold stuff was so terrible, I made another and am much happier in this one and how it shows off some of the range of sounds you can get out of this.

I'm deliberately limiting myself to using just the output of VCO3 and not using any other features of the synth apart from a bit of filter stuff right at the end to show how nicely this stuff responds to it.

I know I keep referring to this as wavefolding, I'm not sure that it is that as this synth wasn't designed to do it but I was inspired by the use of 0hz operators / carriers on the yamaha fm synths and was pretty surprised at how closely this resembled wavefolding both in sound and in how it appears on an oscilloscope.

For anyone looking at buying this synth, I can't praise it enough! It's honestly my dream instrument and I can't get enough of using it, It truly is like a huge modular system in small format with all the benefits of a digital brain."

New Motas-6 Synthesizer Demos

Published on May 7, 2020 MotasSynth

Previous demos here.

1. Motas-6 phase modulation with arpeggiator
This demo shows the arpeggiator playing with use of the VCO analogue phase modulation features.
2. Motas-6 micro-tuning demo with arpeggiator
This demo shows some of the 32 built-in micro-tunings on the Motas-6 synthesizer with the internal arpeggiator. Motas-6 also allows a further 32 user-defined tunings to be imported using standard MIDI tuning dumps (e.g. using Scala software).
3. Motas-6 synthesizer paraphonic playing demo
This video shows how chords of up to 3-notes can be played on the Motas-6 synthesizer. Motas-6 has 3 analogue VCOs each of which can be set to track independently allowing paraphonic playing.
4. Motas-6 synthesizer phase modulation demo
This video shows some of the phase modulation capabilities of the Motas-6 synthesizer.
Motas-6 allows analogue (or analog) phase modulation of oscillators 2 and 3 to create PM/FM type sounds. Oscillator 3 can be phase modulated by oscillator 2 which can be modulated by oscillator 1 so allowing more complex modulation sounds.
5. Motas-6 synthesizer vector morphing demo
This video shows the vector morphing feature of Motas-6 where 4 patches can be blended in real-time using external controllers such as MIDI control messages or CV inputs. A little external reverb has been applied to the audio output from Motas-6.

Motas-6 synthesizer 50 new patches

Published on Dec 12, 2019 MotasSynth

"Factory bank #4 - 50 new patches for the Motas-6 synthesizer!

This video is a short demo of all the 50 patches in the new factory bank #4. As you can see I've used an Arturia Keystep to play the sounds via MIDI.

The audio is recorded directly from Motas-6 with no external effects.

You can download this new bank of patches for your Motas-6 from the usual place: Of course you can load this bank into any of the 10 banks on your Motas-6, it doesn't have to be into bank #4!

A document explaining the patches in this new bank can be downloaded:

More samples from this bank can be also be heard:"

Motas-6 Synthesizer

"Minty fresh, super rare - Motas-6.

I’m liquidating some mono synths..... It’s Christmas and Santa ain’t cheap folks.

If you are into sound design this is a great synth for you. Everything has its own LFO or envelope - in addition to global LFO’s and envelopes. As you can see in the pic there are a lot of knobs and a lot of potential for automation.

The tech specs are listed at the motas-6 website if you are either a.) a scientist or b.) interested.

Comes with OG box, power supply, and manual.

The creator continues to put effort into this synth and there have been regular updates to the firmware over the past year and a half."

Motas 6 Synthesizer // Synthfest 2018

Published on Oct 18, 2018 DivKidVideo

"The Motas-6 took my attention when the company brought one along to Modular Meets Leeds back in August 2018. I had chance to have a quick play and a demo with the designer at Synthfest and I have to say I'm impressed. It's a 3 analogue mono synth with several filters (rare to see more than filter option) that has a fully analogue signal path but lots of digital control. Every knob (YES EVERY KNOB) has an LFO and envelope you can assign to modulate it. This opens up a tonne of sound design potential which I think is really exciting. Here's a few patches and random sounds to give you a flavour. I'll be working with Motas on some demo content in the not too distant future so watch out for that."

Motas-6 synth plays OMD Joan of Arc (demo 07)

Published on Jul 6, 2018 MotasSynth

"Motas-6 synth demo 07 - playing extract from OMD's 'Maid of Orleans' (Joan of Arc) with some external reverb applied.

Several independent LFO modulations have been used on the master pitch, individual oscillator pitch, PWM (oscillators 1 and 3) and filter frequencies to try to re-create the wow-and-flutter sound of the legendary Mellotron used on the original.

The haunting tune is programmed into the Motas-6 internal pattern sequencer which plays in an endless loop whilst the Motas-6 parameters are adjusted.
The Motas-6 paraphonic capabilities are used with oscillator 1 tracking the highest note played, oscillator 2 the middle and oscillator 3 the lowest.
As the tune plays the 3 filter settings and mix levels (including the internal feedback control to the mixer) are adjusted, as well as phase modulation on oscillators 2 and 3. The mixer gain is adjusted - listen for the rich distortion caused from over-driving the filters (starting at 3:13) with the mixer gain set to 'boost'. Also look out for the spectrum analyser display at the end that tracks the notes showing the harmonics."

New Motas-6 Demo Videos

Published on Jun 21, 2018 MotasSynth

"Demo#6 of Motas-6.
The new MotasEdit software plugin is running within Ableton and a repeated simple bar of notes is playing (Motas-6 is connected via USB MIDI).
Parameter changes on the Motas-6 hardware are sent to the plugin/DAW (and likewise changes in the DAW/plugin are sent to Motas-6).

I play with various Motas-6 parameters including the analogue phase modulation, analogue noise and internal feedback (which comes from the audio output before the final volume control) to the pre-filter mixer."

Published on Mar 8, 2018 Cave Way

"Picked up the Motas-6 recently, which if you haven't seen or heard.... it is a paraphonic synth handmade in England. It is extremely versatile has a billion controls and every parameter has its own LFO/Envelope generator so the sound design goes deep. It sounds great. I've been sitting on this recording for awhile and finally had a chance to upload it. If I get some time, I'll put a proper sound demo out where the synth isn't sitting in a track."
