Best Ambient Synth Shootout #103: Neuron VS - Song 1

Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the first (quite dystopic) song with the Neuron VS. It's the software (VST) version of the Hartmann Neuron, a novel hardware synthesizer introduced in 2001 based on artificial neural networks used for sound synthesis. The software version of the instrument, was released in 2005.

I used for the recording the following FX chain: Neuron VS - DigiTech Obscura - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PCfor recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

All Wood Homemade Synthesizers

Homemade Synthesizer - Finished- Edward Black Rose [Sound]

"In this video I show you my homemade synthesizer . The synthesizer is very simple, the sounds it emits are mostly bass. Sounds like a bass guitar."

"This is the first test of my homemade bass synthesizer. It is not completely finished."

Wooden Synthesizer
Mariann Kiss

"This is a unique construction of my father in order to connect the touch of the pure nature with the sound of the pure analogue technology.

Every single piece, both the electrical and the wooden parts are made by the two hands of my father, and the whole conception too... Yes I'm serious: the keys, the box, even the tap delay that he uses to create some of the sounds..."

Shangri-la S

"Hi friends! I played a brand new micro synth 'ParipiDestroyer' produced by DigiLogTokyo's sub-brand 'Crazy Synth Kids'. This cute and very tiny synthesizer provides intense bass sounds despite its cute looks. Paripi is the meaning of 'Party People' This is so dope!"

VAI 5 - Crumar Multiman S/2 - Maestro Rhythm King - Maestro Universal -Elka Solist 505

Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"Crumar Multiman string machine with separate outputs: strings are going through the Mu-Tron phaser, brass is going through the Maestro Rhythm Kings' modulation effect, an input in the back of the drum machine will chop up the input signal like a rhythmic tremolo.

From there is goes to the Maestro Universal Synthesizer (?) System, possibly the first multi-effect ever put on the market, triggering the envelope filter and possibly adding some phaser there as well...

The Maestro Kings' drums are processed through the Roland RE-301 for crunch and echo. The Elka Solist 505 monophonic synthesizer is playing the lead.

We make these videos as a showcase for our studio and for curious vintage heads - and for fun.
We don't dilly-dally too much with production and mixing but it can sound pretty good with headphones on."

IO-Lights – Light sensitive MIDI controller

instruments of things

"IO-Lights is a MIDI controller that controls MIDI CC or MIDI Note signals via environmental light. A high-resolution light sensor in the center of the product makes it possible. In addition, MIDI notes can also be sent to IO-Lights, which are then represented as light by the 12 LEDs on the device."

via Instruments of Things

"The instrument of lights – IO-Lights is a MIDI controller that controls MIDI CC or MIDI Note signals via environmental light. A high-resolution light sensor in the center of the product makes it possible. In addition, MIDI notes can also be sent to IO-Lights, which are then represented as light by the 12 LEDs on the device.

How to use IO-Lights?

IO-Lights is used as a common MIDI controller. Just connect it via USB to the music software of your choice and start controlling sounds with light. You want to connect IO-Lights to your hardware synthesizer? Then simply use an additional USB MIDI host (e.g. this). The internal MIDI configuration can be changed via MIDI SysEx in a web app, which we will present to you soon!

Light to MIDI:

In the center of IO-Lights is a high-resolution light sensor that measures brightness. Use your surrounding light or a light source of your choice and point it at IO-Lights to control your sound.

MIDI Modes:

MIDI Notes: Use IO-Lights to play notes via light. MIDI Control Change: Use IO-Lights to control parameters via light.

MIDI to Light:

IO-Lights can not only control MIDI signals, but also visualize MIDI notes by the 12 LEDs on the product UI. Therefore simply send MIDI notes to IO-Lights. This is where the magic happens: the resulting light also influences the MIDI signals that IO-Lights emit. This creates a generative sound-light interaction.

Random Light:

Let IO-Lights generate light randomly. This looks nice. And? – And also influences your sound parameters by the resulting change of luminosity."

VOC-25 - A conceptual vocal synthesizer

Love Hultén

"VOC-25 is a conceptual vocal synthesizer based on the Axoloti Core and 25 sets of plastic teeth, each set representing a unique note on the keyboard.

Mechanical chatter may be reduced using external monitors instead of built-in speakers

For more info, see lovehulten.com

VOC-25 take inspiration from an original concept created by Simone Giertz:"
