Roland Promars - FIVE MINUTES WITH

video by sonicstate

"Battery Operated Orchestra (BOO) have a nice collection of instruments, we had a glimpse when we shot an interview with them for the launch of their album "Yesterday, Tomorrow and You"

Chris from the band kindly recorded this session to give us all a flavour of what it can sound like - which as it happens is pretty tasty.

The Roland Promars is one of the Compuphonic range of instruments that has some basic computer control - eg patch memory (10 user, 10 preset). Its very simillar to the Jupiter 4 and has often been considered a monophonic version of that. However it has 2 VCOs compared to the JP's 1
Chris takes us through some of its unique sonic capabilities."

Introducing Jumble Henge - 16 Input Stereo Spectral Mixer - ALM029

video by ALM TV

"Introducing the Jumble Henge, a 16 input stereo spectral mixer with a unique patch-based mixing interface in a compact space.

Jumble Henge is a space efficient solution for creating rich stereo mixes from a number of both mono and stereo sources, working great in a compact live system or more creatively explored in the studio. Mix down entire patches, sum stereo effect returns or create a complex feedback network all with an intuitive, musically focused approach.

Jumble Henge was designed in collaboration with Worng Electronics and is based on their existing larger and more featured ‘SoundStage’ module.

In this video we take a look at the features and explore unique patching with the Henge.

Sonicware Liven XFM Prototype - Brass and Acid Jam

video by ChrisLody

"The Liven XFM Prototype in this video was supplied by Sonicware (obviously 😁)

Err.....surprise! I have a Sonicware XFM prototype in the studio. Why do I have an XFM prototype? Well, I feel very fortunate to have been hired by Sonicware to produce sounds and patterns for the XFM as well as beta testing this prototype. I've had it since January the 11th which is why my channel has been a little quiet recently, but I'm now allowed to share this first quick jam 😊

I've mainly spent that time doing sound design for the 'library' FM sounds on the unit. I'll have to be careful to not talk about too much what hasn't been announced but it has a fully editable 4 Op FM synth engine so I've been creating sounds for that, some of which is in this video. Everything you hear in this video is being produced by the XFM in real-time (apart from a limiter in Reaper to get the volume up for YouTube) with FM synthesis as the main sound source with the option to use filters, envelopes and lfos on through the pattern edit mode making it a very powerful hybrid of FM and virtual analog before we even consider what can be done with morphing. Don't pay too much attention to the text on the front panel as a few things have moved around since it was printed, a new version is on it's way to me as of this morning.

The opening brass sound is pure FM using the X-Form mode that can switch and/or fade from one FM sound to another. The acid line uses the filter and envelopes and I also manually tweak the morphing of the waveform between two different sound. You'll also hear drum sounds (my work 😎) which are pure FM apart from a little filtering used as EQ's. All in all this jam isn't very 'FM sounding'. It can do that in spades but the morphing, filters and effects etc means it capable of so much more. So much more!

There is a lot to discuss about the XFM which I'll talk about more as I upload more videos. But in short it's a really good synth with a lot of power, a lot of options and an incredibly unique tone that you'd struggle to create elsewhere. Yes obviously Sonicware are paying me, but I'd just bought this I'd be equally impressed with what it can do, honestly!"

Erica Synths Liquid Sky Dada Noise System II & Quadraphonic Surround Panner

Update: demo added above.

"one of the highlights of the system is the fact that each single module - even the recordable (!) joysticks - can be used as soundgenerator. so the possibilities are endless."

Two new systems by Erica Synths.

Liquid Sky Dada Noise System II

Erica Synths in cooperation with the Liquid Sky artist collective presents the new Dada Noise System II - a modular synth-lab which is dedicated to create all kind of abstract organic analog noise / ambient soundscapes / industrial noise / bad ass bass / spheric atmospheres / experimental unheard drones / sonic glitches and of course all kind of thrilling horror- and scifi-sounds for the professionals. Every single module of the system is already a sound source of its own, therefore the possibilities for sound-, noise- and atmo-experiments are endless.
Features
Fusion VCO2
Fusion VCF3
Fusion Modulator
Black Stereo Delay
Black Joystick2 - one of the main elements of the Dada Noise System II which allow automations in sound and effects, positioning in the quadraphonic room, or can function as experimental sequencer and sound source.
Black VC Clock
Black Modulator
Black Dual VCF
Black Quad VCA
Black Spring Reverb
Black Output
25 patch cables
Comes with vertical side panels and an external PSU

Altair-4: 100 patches for SPC ArcSyn (no talking)

video by Richard DeHove

https://richarddehove.com/soundware/a...

"A complete walkthrough of all 100 patches. Every patch includes a variation via the modwheel. Everything was played live in one take - no overdubs, MIDI or automation. See the little keyboard and modhweel bar which shows exactly what I'm doing. Of course there are absolutely no external effects or processing of any kind. (The little clicks you hear at the end of some sounds is me changing the patch before the last sound has completely finished).

This set homes in on some of the unique strengths of ArcSyn: the incredible 16-step LFO lane, self-generating randomizations, ambient evolving textures, moody keys and leads, and syncronizing multiple LFOs to create deep BPM-locked layers. You'll find sweetness here, weird modulating pads and textures, deeply ambient minimalist bleeps, heavy drums, and penetrating BPM bass.

Even after five years ArcSyn is still my favorite softsynth to program and play. I'm sure you'll see that come through with this soundset.

Sound categories:
0:00 Solo sounds
2:27 BPM synced
10:09 Textures
19:44 Arps
20:41 Bass (many more in the Sync category)
22:20 Keys
30:00 Lead
34:00 Pads
38:31 SFX

Noise Engineering: 3 patches to start off 2021 - Live Modular Jam Session

video by Noise Engineering

"Jam 1 - 'Decisions'

I’m using the STO through Sinc Bucina and Basimilus Iteritas Alter as the two voices in this patch. The STO is patched through Eventide and the BIA through Imitor Versio. I was able to get a string-like sound out of the STO+SB with an orchestral heavy drum out of the BIA. I liked the tension these two built on each other throughout this piece which is why I called it 'Decisions'.

Jam 2 - 'First Rainstorm of the Season'

I’m using two voices in this patch, STO and BIA. I’ve been using the SB to make an enveloped voice out of the free running STO, and using the Zularic Repetitor, Bin Seq, Pons Asinorum to sequence triggers and envelopes into the two osc’s. Just Friends is the main LFO source while the Imitor (IV flashed onto Versio) and Eventide process one osc each. I’m using the Vox Digitalis as the primary melody source and patching it into the XAOCTirana “transpose” cv input to get a progression of melodies with four different roots, programmed on the Tirana. The tirana root note moves forward every 8 iterations of the entire VD pattern. Before being patched into the mixer, both “parts” are sent through the two channel filter.

Jam 3 - 'Up All Night'
This patch follows some of the signal pathways already explored in Jams 1 and 2, but for 3 I really wanted to use the beat pattern found often in Reggaeton/Latin Trap (kick on 1st beat, snare on 4th and 7th) and see where I could take it.
