New Synthetic Sound Labs 1620 “NURSE RATCHET” MU Module
"Synthetic Sound Labs has just released its new 1 MU width 1620 Nurse Ratchet module.
Nurse Ratchet is a trigger processor and generator, designed to add an organic chain of events (bursts) to your modular setup.
When activated, either manually or with an external trigger, the selected number of triggers are generated. Time Division, Distribution, Quantity, and Probability of the bursts are both manually and CV controllable.
Based on Befaco’s popular Eurorack module “Burst” Produced in collaboration with Befaco and based on their excellent Eurorack “Burst” module,
With Nurse synced to your tempo, you can create all kinds of ratcheting effects, with divisions and multiplications leading to doubles, triplets, quintuplets, and true Poly Rhythms for your modular system.
With very short time windows, Nurse can help to synthesize fast repeating transients for “hand-clap like” sounds or modern drum hits.
Working in Cycle Mode, is also an excellent master clock with tap tempo functionality, and is able to achieve non-linear distributed clocks.
FEATURES
• Custom trigger bursts up to 64 triggers.
• Voltage Control burst Quantity with dedicated attenuator.
• One Shot and Cycle play modes activated via manual controls or dedicated Trig
Input.
• Pingable clock input.
• Voltage Control burst Distribution, Time Division and Probability.
• Tempo and End of Cycle individual outputs for sync other modules.
The SSL 1620 is an easy-to-use ratcheting / burst with powerful features that would otherwise be difficult to create.
SSL uses quality fiberglass-epoxy printed circuit boards, precision automated robotics and meticulous hand-crafted assembly assure years of trouble-free service.
Synthetic Sound Labs has been in the analog synthesizer business since 1973. The 1620 is yet another in SSL’s growing line of new synthesizer modules. Proudly made in the USA.
Pricing is $345 US - available directly from SSL and through NoiseBug, Pomona, CA.
New Synthetic Sound Labs 2530 Tube VCA / Timbral Gate Eurorack Module
"The Russians Are Coming!
What happens when you apply 1950's era Soviet technology to a modern analog
synth? You get the new SSL 2530 Tube VCA / Timbral Gate module - a wild blend of vacuum tube warmth and distortion, along with an incredibly useful VCA that is so much more than the sum of its parts.
The 2530 uses miniature pencil-sized vacuum tubes that were developed and refined by the Russians over 60 years ago. They are exceptionally low current and low voltage devices - so there's no need to generate the traditional high-voltage power supplies that are required for most other vacuum tubes. Very cool stuff!
While it’s a surprisingly good VCA, it really shines when it’s over-driven - rounding and folding the input waveforms like nothing else available. In some modes, it’s prone to whacky self-oscillation that can be made to lock onto the harmonics of the input waveform in cascading howls. Totally adjustable and controllable.
In conjunction with and licensed by Ken Stone (CGS), Synthetic Sound Labs has further expanded on Ken's designs to include several other circuit enhancements to make your Russian dreams "Come True".
SSL has added LEDs behind the tube to visually emulate the warm glow of the filament, and pulsating blue LEDs that simulate tubes as they are being driven by control voltages. A custom acrylic window shows off the effects in true retro fashion.
SSL uses quality fiberglass-epoxy printed circuit boards, precision automated robotics and meticulous hand-crafted assembly assure years of trouble-free service.

ESK - Modular FX and a Nord G2 Engine
video by Metunar
"I put together a modular system to use it as effect unit. There is also a Nord Modular G2 Engine mounted in this rack. I used the Nord G2 as sound source with 2 simple polyphonic sounds.
First you hear the dry synthesizer sound of the Nord G2 and then 3 examples with different effect’s.
The Doepfer A-112 sampler can be a quite cool LoFi delay or ptichshifter. (Example 2 + 3)
The Elektron Monomachine is only used as Midi keyboard and sequencer.
Direct recording without mastering.

Make Noise Strega | Episode 05 | Patches from the Manual
video by Cinematic Laboratory
"For this episode, I wanted to let you hear the numerous patches which are documented in Strega's manual. There are patches from Alessandro C, Tony Rolando, Peter Speer, Walker Farrell, Sarah Belle Reid, LightBath, Jake (Pugh?) and Tim Held. I realized I didn't leave much space for 'Bare Strega' in my previous videos, so this was a very cool way to let you hear it 'as intended'."
