Deftaudio Fidget Spinner Eurorack LFO DIY kit

video upload by DeftAudio

"Here is a simple to build fidget spinner kit for Eurorack to use as an LFO with other modules.

Deftaudio SpinnerLFO is a simple DIY kit based around a fidget spinner and a double bass pickup.

This module is fully passive and requires no external power. It can be used as an oscillator source, where the frequency is based on the rotational speed. To control other CV inputs, you need to amplify the signal coming from it, such as with a preamp built in Behringer 2600. Any other preamp, mixer and a guitar pedal will work too.

Assembly notes:

Assembling the kit is straight forward. You need very minimal soldering skills, just to solder the sockets and two wires together. No special tools required.

Introducing The Octopoid Sequencer ...

Many well known and famous rhythms can be related to Euclidean Patterns: Geometric patterns which are generated by a specific algorithm. They offer great opportunities to generate a broad spectrum of new and interesting rhythms and allow you to easily create fresh rhythms and grooves for your next music productions. Within just a few steps, complex and inspiring patterns can be created. Go for a dive with The Octopoid Sequencer and experience the creative world of Euclidean patterns …

Assume a full bar is split into a certain amount of beats, for example four beats. Next define the amount of active beats, let’s say two. Finally the algorithm decides which two of the total amount of four beats should be active. Just by playing with these two parameters you can already create a huge amount of inspiring rhythms. But The Octopoid Sequencers offers more …

By choosing odd-numbered or differing beats for each of the eight modules, rotating the patterns, changing playback speeds (x2, x4, …) for individual modules or by customizing and randomizing velocities / timings as well as using more variations, complex and interesting rhythms can be easily created which will lead to surprising new inspirations.

Beyond rhythms and grooves: Create melodic progressions by triggering chord notes! Different modes allow you to add variations, to manipulate melodies and to interact with The Octopoid Sequencer in real time. Ideal for live performances!

In Split Mode, all modules can play simultaneously or sequentially arranged in groups or even one after each other. This leads to more and longer melodic variations. Pitch all modules on the fly or trigger them using your external MIDI keyboard / DAW in Floating Pitch Mode.

Finally manage and backup your presets using the internal SD card. You can store up to 160 presets grouped in 10 banks, each with 16 slots.

video upload by Perfect Circuit

"Eurorack modular synthesizers are embracing stereo sound in new ways—over the last few years, we've seen a ton of stereo-oriented modules come out from top brands like Make Noise, SSF, and plenty more!

In this video, Panic Girl walks us through a stereo patch on her personal system, featuring the Make Noise XPO, Mimeophon, and the Tiptop Buchla 258t Dual Oscillator. This mix of mono and stereo modules makes a great learning ground for getting into the stereo mindset—so grab some headphones, tune in, and space out!

Jen SM 2007 italian string machine 1979

Update: now listed on Reverb.

"Here is a demo of a quite rare Jen SM 2007 string machine. Unit was fully serviced and is for sale. Get in touch if interested.

The SM 2007 is a very nice stringer for whomever like these classic sounds. Very compact and lightweight and still gifted with quite a number of features.
There are 3 strings sounds (cello, viola and violin) that can be individually mixed, variable attack and sustain, a tone control and of course a triple BBD chorus.
The later has 3 presets: ensemble, solo and organ that are basically different setting of the chorus effect, 'ensemble' being the full triple chorus, 'solo' uses only 2 of the choruses for a less dense sound and "organ" is the dry sound of the string sounds, thus enabling to use external fx with more flexibility.
"Auto sustain" switch makes it possible for sustain notes either to be cut when new ones are played or be left to release. And the sustain length can be massive !
Soundwise it is silky and lush, the closest I can think of is the Logan/Hohner string melody. A bit like Elka rhapsody too but denser since it has triple chorus, not a double one.

Recorded dry with no treatment."

And some pics. Note the stand is not original. Perfect fit though.
