Modernetics by Benge

video upload by zack dagoba

"A self-playing cybernetic patch made on the Modcan A-Series modular system

The modules have been set up so that they interact with each other using CVs and triggers generated by themselves, based upon two initial VCOs which are the source of all the sounds and also modulations. There are no Random Generators in this patch

In other words, by creating a modified feedback path between the audio outs of the VCOs and their own CV inputs, chaotic interactions occur, for both pitch and timing attributes. The modifier in this case is a VC Waveshaper

Another important part of the patch is the derivation of gate pulses from audio signals. For this, I am using a Gated Comparator module. There is also a Sample & Hold module and various other CV and timing modifiers and processors in the patch

The whole idea of cybernetics is to set up chaotic systems in a controlled and productive way, something that this Modcan synthesiser can do really well"

MiniMod Keyz & Arps - Keyboard Split function and Dual Arpeggiator running 2 synth voices

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"Full-length 'landscape view' video on Sunday. Using the keyboard split function of the Nifty Keyz with an arpeggiator on both keyboard zones. This is then controlling both the on-board MiniMod voice and a separate Eurorack case, containing another 3-VCO voice and the Gemini 2412 Dual State-variable VCF. These 2 SEM-style filters are processing the same sound very differently, and are modulated the Dual RVG random voltage event generator, and the Multi Burst Envelopes. The MiniMod Keyz voice uses the Ring SM as a mixer and sub-bass/sub-octave generator, along with the classic Minimoog-based Transistor Ladder Filter.

MiniMod Keyz User Guide videos coming soon.

The AJH SYNTH Eurorack range consists of high-end modules, all hand-made in the UK, most of which are based on classic, vintage designs, authentically recreating the circuitry of much sought-after analogue instruments and technologies of the past, whilst greatly expanding them, and bringing them to modern Eurorack levels of convenience, limitless flexibility, and reliability.

Check out the AJH Synth playlists for module 'User Guides', and 'Patch of The Week' videos, which will be either performances or 'how to' guides, detailing functions/methods, and a range of sounds, some familiar, some less so, containing a patch sheet at the end to show you how to construct it for yourself.

Talk with Yukes——“ Why I Prefer an Electronic Instrument, Instead of an Acoustic One?"

video upload by Meng Qi

"Yukes excels at all kinds of plucked string instruments. He told me His stage name Yukes is derived from the word 'Ukulele,' and when he put his name into Google Translate, it resulted in '玉刻' (Yukes), which means 'Jade Carve' literally in Chinese. In our culture, one well-known adage goes like this: 'Jade needs to be carved to become finest.' This string instrument player from the US seems to have a destined connection with Chinese traditional culture.

Later, he studied the Guzheng at NYU Shanghai and self-taught other Chinese traditional instruments, such as the Xiao and Zhongruan. Just as we marveled at how an American musician could show such extraordinary skills in Chinese traditional instruments, he surprised us once again by expressing his passion for electronic instruments or, more precisely, the electrification of traditional instruments. So, what exactly is it? Is it a corruption or betrayal of tradition? Can traditional instruments and electronic instruments coexist on the same stage? I hope that my interview with Yukes can answer these questions."

video upload by While We Were Sleeping

"Recorded some videos covering all the alter X and Y algorithms and than had a couple of quick jams with both This was a quick post. Will edit one soon covering all the effects soon but initial impressions are that this are amazing sounding and creative boxes although the Folktek Alters build feels a little cheap.l but hopefully not an issue for a desktop effect"
