Update: press release follows:

Portland, OR, USA August 17, 2023 – AI Synthesis has released the AI012 Eurorack Wave Animator in both a built and guaranteed version, as well as in kit and PCB/Panel format.
The AI012 Wave Animator is a Waveshaper/VCO Expander that produces two pulses per input wave cycle with voltage controlled pulse width, distance, and amplitude of the second pulse. This design was adapted (with permission and a few changes) from Ian Fritz’s Double Pulse Generator circuit. Some changes were made to the circuit in development.
While the circuit is all analog, the AI012 Eurorack Wave Animator’s pulse wave outputs have a range of timbres from analog wave folding to digital sounding chimes.
The Width of each Pulse is controlled by the AI012 Eurorack Wave Animator’s Width knob and corresponding attenuatable cv input.
The Distance between the second pulse and the first pulse is controlled by the AI012 Eurorack Wave Animator’s Distance knob and corresponding attenuatable cv input. The resulting waveform can have two distinct pulses, or staircase style wave-shapes.
The Amplitude of the second pulse is controlled by the AI012 Eurorack Wave Animator’s Amplitude knob and corresponding attenuatable cv input. It can be negative or positive in voltage value.
In addition to creating new audio rate waveforms, when used as a sequencer, the module can create interesting rythmic variations when the pulses are used as triggers and cv is used to stagger the second trigger.
It comes in both Silver Aluminum versions and Black PCB FR4 versions.
Depth: 35mm

“In the year 2000, I was in college and obsessed with modular synths, but could barely afford to eat. I knew it was possible to build your own synth, but there wasn’t anyone, or anywhere to turn to for advice. In the past decade, much more information has been published online, and in 2013 I started down my path to DIY modular. Even with all of the information online, there still lacked a single, simple, comprehensive guide for those looking to build their own synthesizer. I want AI Synthesis to be that guide. Prior to building my own synth, I was a dreamer, after building my modular, I felt I had awoken. I want to help others do the same.”

Facehugger r013 Chain1 test

"First test of chained Facehuggers. Triggering & sequence working, need to figure out why the stage 2 output isn't being passed through, so no audio. Works great otherwise though."

User Petition to Make Waldorf Kyra Open Source

This one is in via Sérgio.

You can find the petition here.

Details via Fabio Montarsolo:

"Waldorf acquired the valkyrie project from Mr. Manuel Caballero back in 2018. After a quick cosmetic change, they put it into the market with the name Kyra.

Despite strong requests from the community of users, they did not release any significant firmware update. Now in 2023 they declared no further firmware update is to be expected.
The valkyrie/kyra is an FPGA implementation, so in practice it is a software designed synth, with much lower limits of hardware ones.

We as kyra users asks Waldorf to release the code of kyra firmware into open source in order for the community to take over their unfinished work."

Note the Kyra was initially the Exodus Digital Valyrie as pictured. It was picked up and rebadged as the Kyra by Waldorf.

A live, semi-improvised jam performed entirely on hardware.

Text, phantasmagoric visuals, masking, art, and more created by Vincent Venoir. Please check out his music project here!: https://hyperfollow.com/chonkerbot

I've been travelling quite a bit over the last few weeks and decided to get the "Rolcas" to keep me company while travelling. I have been super impressed with the T-8, J-6, and S-1, and been having a blast while sitting in hotel rooms or ferry line-ups. The T-8 in particular leads to instant fun, and the S-1 is a surprisingly deep synthesizer with fantastic sound.

Here, I made a pattern from scratch on the T-8, quickly transposed something I had noodled on the S-1, and then performed it on the spot. I also added in the Crum Drum, another cheap drum machine, for some fun percussive performance. It made a great combo with the Rolcas (although its synch occasionally lost a 16th note). The three together made a fantastic, fun, and fast jam.

It was the fun of these devices, and this jam, that made me think to reach out to Vincent and see if he wanted to make some of his magic on the video. He really captured the spirit of the jam, and I was delighted by the end results!

Roland T-8 - Drums and bass
Roland S-1 (+ XLN RC-20 plug-in for a bit of dirt/warble) - Chords
Nyström Crum Drum - Percussion

Written a few minutes before recording. Performed and recorded live, with EQ, compression, and limiting on the master.

Thanks for listening."
