FEEDBACK by Ultraviolet Light
This one is in via Todd Barton who co-curated the release.
"Cassette label Ultraviolet Light is ecstatic to announce Feedback, a compilation of new works from Todd Barton, Dan Deacon, Dani Dobkin, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Doug Lynner, Toshimaru Nakamura, Sarah Belle Reid, Ryan Gaston, Jimmy Joe Roche, and Keith Fullerton Whitman. Each track utilizes some form of acoustic feedback, no-input mixing or recursive patching techniques as the central compositional principle.
Closed circuit and acoustic feedback have been prominent features within experimental electronic compositions for well over 50 years. In 1968 Steve Reich made extensive use of audio Feedback in his work “Pendulum Music”. David Tudor and Alvin Lucier incorporated feedback systems in many iconic compositions. Much of John Cage's interest and questions of noise and its relation to music could be seen as an extension of concepts explored when artists introduce feedback into their performances and recording. Arguably the most prolific and influential artist who integrated feedback into her compositions is the French composer Éliane Radigue.
Feedback is released as a 300-copy limited edition cassette with 4-color risograph printed artwork by Never Brush my Teeth. A digital download card is included with each cassette. 60% of the digital sales of the album will be donated to Earth Justice annually.
Curated by Todd Barton and Jimmy Joe Roche.

MODERAT - A New Error (Prophet REV2 Synth Cover)
video upload by nicola neeco
"For this drumless and dawless version of this amazing track by Moderat I challenged myself to do it only with my beloved REV2.
The repeating notes and the pumping/sidechain effect of the bass patch are only made with two LFOs:
- one is assigned to the cutoff, Rev Saw wave, clock sync, key sync (to imitate a sequencer)
- the other is assigned to the VCA Env Amt, Saw wave, amt 127, clock sync, key sync. the Env Amt in the Amp section must be set to zero (for the sidechain/like effect)
- Then I used the ENV3 to add some attack. destination: VCA Env Amt. envelope: zero attack, very short decay.
- to add the "snare" I used the gate sequencer: I set a 2 step sequence in key step mode and I set the second step to add a burst of white noise
(no compressors or others plugins added to make the sidechain effect, only some eq and reverbs)
I made these patches from scratch.

Introducing the new Stylophone CPM DS-2 Analog Drone Synthesizer
video upload by Stylophone
Press release follows:

"Introducing the Stylophone DS-2 Analog Drone Synthesizer, the first release in Stylophones new pro-audio Compact Portable Modular (CPM) range.
With two analog drone voices, filter cutoff and volume knobs for evolving and fading drones in and out. The Ultra LFO provides internal rhythmic modulation that enables dynamic waveform blending of the two analog oscillators and cadenced movement of the multimode filters.
Keep things musical by linking the pitch of the two analog oscillators to ensure everything stays harmoniously in tune, or hard sync them for even wilder sounds. Sonic vibes are further enhanced with the in-built vintage modulated delay as well as the option to add one of the eight vintage-inspired reverb algorithms.
This portable, stand-alone drone synth, doesn’t require any external connections to other equipment in order to make endless soundscapes, pulsating rhythms, and cosmic exploration.
Integration with studio and Eurorack equipment is possible through the twelve patch points as well as the ability to route signals to multiple places simultaneously for extra processing with the built-in speaker and headphone connection. Run sound sources from anything into the Aux input to take advantage of the built-in effects, creating a single hub for your music creations.
Use either mains, AA battery operation or mount it within a Eurorack case to play it anywhere. The Stylophone CPM DS-2 Analog Drone Synthesizer is an ideal companion for those seeking innovation in sound creation in the studio, on stage or on the go.
Features list:
· 2 analog 3340 oscillators
· 2 analog sub oscillators
· 2 analog 3320 filters with drive
· 14 analog LFO waveforms
· 2 LFO wave selectors
· 7 LFO routing switches
· 5 LFO depth attenuverters
· 12 modular patch points
· 8 vintage AL3201 reverb algorithms
· 1 vintage PT2399 delay with modulation
· 1 effects mixer with aux input
· 2 stereo outputs

Keith Humble's Optronics Workstation
video upload by Robotussin Vintage Synths
"This is the Optronics Workstation, an Australian synth made for composer Keith Humble around 1970. It could be controlled by brainwaves…
The Optronics Workstation contains an EMS VCS1 – you can see the controls in the bottom right corner. Yes, a VCS1, not the VCS3 that EMS eventually marketed. The VCS1 was the first synth made by British company EMS. Three were created, the original, known as the Don Banks Music Box, can be seen above in the last image. It was made in 1968, predating the VCS3 by 12 months and many say it was the commission from Don Banks that led to the formation of EMS, so perhaps without it, there would be no other EMS synths.
Humble’s Optronics was built by an engineer called Graham Thirkell around the VCS1. It is perhaps the world’s first electronic workstation, containing a mixer, a synth and FX, all of which are inter-patchable.
In the centre is the 'Mindreader' or 'OmniVoila'. Players attach an electrode to their temples and this device read the signals and turned it into voltage to produce sound or modulation. On the left side is a three-channel mixer for three external line inputs, plus a send for a delay. Top right is a patch panel where voltages can be routed to create sound or modulation. Above that you can see two ring modulators. It also has an in-built spring reverb.
Humble was a huge early proponent of electronic music in Australia. He founded the Electronic Music Studio at Melbourne Universities’ Grainger Centre and the music school at La Trobe University, Melbourne.
The Optronics Workstation is now in the collection of MESS, the non-profit Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio. They are fantastic people who preserve and restore vintage instruments and encourage people to come in and play with them. Humble’s Optronics still works, so if you’re in Melbourne or near there, drop them a line and go say hello.
They were going to send me some video of it in action but I think they’re too slammed. I’ve included the only audio I could find that might be the Optronics in action. It might not be, though. But it was made by Keith Humble about a year after he started working with the Optronics and given that it was his only synth at the time, I think there's a good chance the audio was made with the Optronics."
