Electronica w/ CyDrums, OP-1 field, Prophet-10, CP-88 | Pastel Porch 2025-02-24

video upload by atnr

"A piece created using the ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, and ‪@SONICWARE‬ CyDrums. It's an electronica track built around an irregular piano melody and a glitchy rhythmic sound.

The bassline is generated using a sine wave on Ableton Live's Operator.

The rhythm is crafted on CyDrums, with sequences controlled via MIDI from Ableton.

The OP-1 field is used to perform synth parts, and its output is routed through ‪@gfisys‬ SPECULAR TEMPUS, where a deep Shimmer Reverb is occasionally applied.

On the YAMAHA CP-88, I perform layered octaves irregularly, while the Prophet-10 delivers the harmonies."

MachineRoom STP16

video upload by MachineRoom

"STP16 is an 16-step trigger/gate sequencer working in 2 modes:

16 step mode - In this mode STP16 uses "hocketing", in our case it controls two channels using one 3-position switch. In the left position of switches 1-16, the trigger is sent to channel A (blue led), in the right - channel B (red led), the middle position - no signal. In this mode, only one of the channels plays during the step, which allows you to quickly create a rhythmic pattern from two instruments, an example can be a combination of open/closed hi-hats.

8 step mode - A 16-step sequence can be divided into two 8-step sequences using the 8/16 switch, in this case the toggles will work as in a classic sequencer, ON in the right position, OFF in the middle. The mode is convenient when you need corresponded steps of both channels to be played simultaneously. One of the channels can be used to reset the other, shortening the sequence.

The clock signal will be the same for both sequences, Out A will be responsible for the left channel, Out B - for the right.

Сlock - clock

Gate/Trigger - In Gate mode STP16 operates with tied gate signal and can, for example, control a VCA.

Direction (UP/DOWN) - allows you to play the sequence in the reverse direction, works equally in 8 and 16 step modes.

CV controls:

Reset - returns the sequence to step number 1, works equally for both 8 and 16 steps.

Gate/Trig - changing between the modes

Each switch has 2 positions: trigger or tied gate. The Reset input allows you to make the sequence as short as you want. Ideal for creating and manipulating rhythmic sequences in live sets."

Ambient jam with Lumanoise v4 Eurorack

video upload by nanocyde

"Dialed in a nice subharmonic chord with the four oscillators of the Lumanoise v4 by LEP. Reverb is Alesis XT:c in the rack, kick drum is Boba Fat going through an old Yamaha E1010 delay to give it a 5/4 sound. The Lumanoise v4 isn't calibrated for 1v/oct because it uses vactrols, so I just rolled with it!"

Introducing SYNSO - A Modular Synthesizer Brand From Hangzhou, China

video uploads by Sonic Seed

Playlist:
1. StepBass - SYNSO
2. StepTone - SYNSO
3. StepDrum - SYNSO

via Sonic Seed

"SYNSO is a modular synthesizer brand from Hangzhou, China, specializing in the design and development of digital-based modular synthesizers with innovative and unique interaction methods.

SYNSO's design philosophy emphasizes digital and parametric thinking to simplify the interaction logic of traditional modules.

The design philosophy of 5YNSO emphasizes the versatility and ease of use of the modules. Its products not only produce rich sounds but also stimulate the user's creativity through unique control methods.

Step into the pulse of sound with StepBass, a Eurorack bassline module crafted for deep, resonant sub-bass. Anchored in an 8-step sequencer, it unlocks the power of per-step parameter locking—akin to the Elektron experience—allowing every sonic element to morph and shift in time.

At its core, four waveform oscillators, a smoothly contoured filter, and a decay envelope sculpt textures that breathe and evolve with each sequence. Every parameter—pitch, timbre, movement—can be locked per step, birthing a dynamic, ever-shifting sonic terrain. The filter leans towards warmth, making it a natural fit for techno’s hypnotic undulations.

Pair StepBass with StepTone and StepDrum to form a modular groovebox—an ecosystem of infinite rhythmic potential, a machine built to generate pulsating club soundscapes. Or, inject modulation via the V/OCT input to weave melodic structures that transcend mere basslines.

Designed for immediacy and intuition, StepBass bridges the physical and the ephemeral, a machine that translates gesture into groove. Built for the stage, the moment, the dancefloor—where sound is not just heard, but felt."

Boss SDE-3 delay fully cranked on synth and drum machine

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Yet another delay pedal bought in hope of finding the perfect balance between size, sound and features. I'm still feeling good about this one: It's black, it's small, it has enough features to make it interesting, it takes line level easily, and it can bite hard.

So here's more audio noddlings than anyone might reasonably want. There's a short bit of blather at the start and then it's all audio with the DB-01 and LXR-02. The levels get maxed out a few times but I've kepy everything as is rather than using a limiter. Panning mode begins at 13:10 and continues for the rest of the video. In the drum machine examples the SDE-3 takes the right output and gives it a stereo output. The left side is centred in the mixer as a "dry" out. At times various drum sounds are panned left and right to varying degrees which means there's usually not an entire output going through the delay.

0:00 Blah blah about features
2:35 No more talk, basic sounds
3:30 Deep modulation, stereo
5:00 Heavy feedback, stereo
10:20 Offset knob, stereo
12:15 Wet-dry output
13:10 Panning mode
15:16 Terminator
17:26 Drone fun
20:48 Drums 1
21:59 Drums 2
22:58 Drums 3
23:28 Drums 4
24:35 Drums 5
