Luma-mu - Tutorials

video uploads by DeftAudio

Playlist:
1. Luma-mu - Tutorial 01 - Basic Patching
2. Luma-mu - Tutorial 02 - Creating own sounds with Luma.tools

"Making your own sounds for Luma-mu with https://luma.tools/ - Web-based sound editor for Luma-1 and Luma-mu."

"After launching the successful Luma-1 project, which is a precise recreation of the legendary Linn LM-1 with extended feature set, we’re announcing the beginning of shipping Luma-mu.

Luma-mu is a 10HP Eurorack module, essentially a single drum channel of Luma-1 which holds multiple sounds in its ROM. It plays samples digitally without microcontroller or software used, which guarantees the lowest latency and highest response of its 8-bit mu-Law DAC. It’s perfect for Luma-1 expansion or standalone operation.

Luma-mu feature set:
8-bit mu-law EPROM playback, exact copy of LM-1/Luma-1 channel
Removable EPROMs with 8 sounds on each, 16KB each (~1.5sec/ea)
True digital playback with no microcontroller or software involved, order of nanoseconds response time to the first sample
CV control for sound select allows playing various sounds at each step
CV control for Pitch and Dynamics
Gate control for Reset, Pause and sample Trigger
Can be clocked externally
Ability to play one shot samples or looped sounds to use it with perfectly looped waveforms as a wave oscillator
Comes with a software to make your own EPROMs
EPROM is accessible from the front with optional Luma-mu Reacharound extender module
Eurorack 10HP, 50mm depth

Luma-mu is available at https://www.deftaudio.com/
MSRP is $279."

6/14/25 (abhorrent) Roland System 100m + Metasonix R-54 + Zerosum Inertia Horripilation + (…)

video upload by Cfpp0

This is the first post to feature the Zerosum Inertia Horripilation.

"6/14/25 (abhorrent) Roland System 100m + Metasonix R-54 + Zerosum Inertia Horripilation + Peavey 1300 + Alesis MIDIVERB II

Some sludgy Sample & Hold. Pamela’s New Workout clocks the Roland System 100m 150 module’s S&H, which sends its clock out to the 140 envelope and its S&H out to both 110 VCOs, both 110 VCFs. The 140 envelope controls both 110 VCAs. The 150 LFO and the 140 LFO also modulate the VCFs on the two 110 modules. The upper 110 runs through the Zerosum Inertia Horripilation module, which is also modulated by the 150 S&H. The lower 110 runs through the Metasonix R-54, modulated by the 150 S&H signal. The R-54 runs through the Peavey 1300 and is panned center. The Horripilation signal is panned a bit left. Both signals receive some room reverb from the Alesis MIDIVERB II."

GS Music Bree6 // Small Simple and Sublime

video upload by Starsky Carr

"Sound is everything... and the GS MUSIC Bree6 doesn't fail to deliver. There's an intangible quality to the tone of their synths. The GS MUSIC e7 bing their first offering, that bowled me off my feet when I first got my hands on it.

This was first announced in NAMM 2024, so it's took a while to get to me - and it was worth the wait. Its a single VCO 6 voice polysynth with a 24dB LP filter and all analog signal path ... so it's in the same ball park as Juno's except this is a VCO, not a DCO, and has a different flavour.

Importantly for a boutique synth manufacturer, this feels great to use - its got a knob per function interface thats so intuitive and easy to navigate you'll be an expert in minutes!"

new, a sponge based audio oscillator

video upload by RS-Elc

"Sponge material shows an extremely large dielectric constant that changes with the amount of compression. It can be made into a wide range variable capacitor when clamped between two metal plates. Capacitors in the range of 100nF can be made with only a few cm of (cellulose based) sponge material.

This movie shows a sponge-based oscillator and a sponge-based lowpass filter as an introduction into 'Spongetronics'. Comes with oscilloscope waveforms and resulting sounds. More info on Elektor Labs."

TRIX - 4 Channel Polyrhythmic Trigger Sequencer for Eurorack Synthesizer

video upload by NoisyFruitsLab

"Trix is a 4 channel, 32 steps trigger sequencer with individual step length, probability, swing, one knob filling methods per channel and 16 banks for saving patterns.

An excellent partner for polyrhythmic and swinging beats.

Knob controlling beat creation with different modes for filling / unfilling patterns.

Each channel has an individual pattern length from 1- 32 steps with visual feedback on the display, changing dynamically between 16 and 32 steps.

Probability per channel in percentage provides random triggering and brings static patterns generativly alive. Shuffle / swing per channel makes it groove as hell!

Individual filling methods per channel to adjust how your knobs create or interact with patterns. Choose between standard, euclidean and random.

Encoder for adjusting the tempo in BPM, dialing through patterns and start / stop.

LED buttons for direct triggering, adding or deleting steps and for indication of triggers. Packed with additional functions using the shift button.
Flexible clock input to capture all common clock resolutions.

Clock and reset output.

RGB color changes per pattern, to change the mood of your sequencer.

Specs

14HP
Depth: 28mm
+12V 100mA
Output 5V
MCU RP2040
