Why you do or don’t need 3 oscillators
video upload by Monotrail Tech Talk
"A three-oscillator setup seems to be the high-end standard in the land of synths. That benchmark has a lot to do with some of the first synths available to a wide public, like the Minimoog model D, EMS VCS 3, and ARP 2600. All 3 oscillator synths. But modern classics like the Pro 3, or even poly synths like the Hydrasynth, or Peak also have a 3-oscillator setup. So… should you have a triple oscillator bank in you modular?"

L-1 Sallen Key Filters. Mutant Cure VCF vs. DS VCF.
video upload by Aleksei Laman
"L-1 Synthesizer makes two Sallen-Key filters.
Mutant Cure VCF is optical, based on vactrols.
DS VCF is solid-state, based on original L-1 discrete gain cells.
In this video I split input waves and modulations between these filters.
I play them by one and both together.
Mutant Cure VCF has correct Sallen-Key LP mode. HP mode is mutant-ish, it has not so nice timbre as it must be and no selfocillation.
So I play this filter only in LP mode.
DS VCF has correct Sallen-Key LP, BP, HP modes. It switches between LP, BP, HP topologies using sophisticated switching system with 12 electronic switches.
Also it has voltage control on resonance and Drive knob which adds gain to the input.
Mutant Cure VCF sounds more blurry. It's not a flaw, it's a feature of vactrols, for that we love them.
DS VCF sounds cleaner and faster, especially on trebles. Also it has more convex resonance.

WMD Skorpion Sound Demos
video uploads by WMDevices
"Skorpion is an 8-stage vector based wavefolder module that boasts a huge range of sounds via it's deep, yet intuitive set of controls. In this video, we cut about an hour of jamming and experimentation together into about 8 minutes of sound examples. No talking in this one, just pure sonic exploration and a demonstration of what this module can do with a simple input.
In the intro, we're running a sine wave through Skorpion and add some CV from an envelope into slope to create some rhythm. We add some drums to hear this in context with a drum beat. We then transition into a sine wave as the input signal, then some Saw (with windows) and Swarm Waveforms, experiment with a filter before the Skorpion, and end up back with some drums in different configurations.
WMD designs electronic hardware for musicians longing for a balance of precision and exploration. Our quality control is the absolute finest, with service to match."

RSF Kobol with Roland TR-909 and CR-8000
video upload by analogia pl
"I just don’t remember how they all were triggered. I believe it was trigger to Kobol and DIN SYNC or MIDI to the Rolands (8000 has Tubbutec MIDI)."
