The electronics for this module were conceived by the brilliant mind of Yves Usson. It is a new kind of module, quite different from what one usually finds in a modular synthesizer.

The Animator (temporary name, we need to find a better one) will generate a modulated mix of four waveforms of different pitches and types from a simple external sawtooth wave.

This module is a real achievement because it is 100% analog. It will be available in the next SynTesla 5U systems."

Katla Volcanic Synth - Genki's New Instrument at Buchla & Friends

"We get an introduction to Katla, an enigmatic new synthesizer from Iceland-based Genki Instruments, at Buchla & Friends 2026. Named one of the largest volcanoes in Iceland, Katla is synthesizer that combines five digital oscillator voices with envelopes, analog filters and wavefolders, and a set of "Kalta" chaotic parameters, for an organic, "controlled-chaos", sound and performance. It also features side panels and knobs made from volcanic lava rocks.
