Explaining and testing Seiche by Holocene Electronics

video upload by Stazma

"Today I'm happy to show you some stuff with Seiche by Holocene Electronics.

Here we go for a deep dive into this very interesting "complex filter". I love modules that blur the line between filter and oscillator and this one of them, adding VCA and wavefolder on top for each of the two sides. The interface is superb and very playable. I'd say it's like a Serge sounding module housed in a Buchla like panel.

Also still some fun with Random8 in there ;-)
Have fun!!!"

RETAKE: WINDANG OFFICIAL DEMO TAKE 2! LFSR NOISE SYNTHESIZER

video upload by Gen Thalz

Follow-up to this post.

"*This is a retake of WINDANG’s official demo. In the previous upload, someone noticed that the audio was only coming from the left channel, and there was also a suggestion to make the demo slower.

So here it is, a more thorough demonstration of WINDANG to the best of my ability, starting with almost all knobs set to minimum except for the filter section, since setting the LPF fully down completely cuts the sound.

WINDANG is a Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR)-based noise synthesizer. A deterministic pseudo-random instrument featuring LPF, LPG, VCOs, and Glitch Echo, capable of deep sound design and noise sculpting.

//All sounds in this video were generated entirely by WINDANG. No external effects pedals or post-processing were used. Recorded directly through a Behringer mixer into a GoPro Hero10, with all mixer parameters set to center.

Synth Stuff Ep. 92 - Modal Element One

video upload by tritonrecordings

"Fresh from Modal's oven is the Element One. I think the idea was to take their analog modeling engine and scale the programming side of things down for a sleeker interface, and instead focusing more on performance. Not a bad idea, and I can see this being useful in a live setting. The sound is great and covers a lot of ground beyond just analog emulation type sounds. It has some of the same UI quirks that irritate me about my Argon8X, but it's a great lightweight synth full of good sounds. I think Modal in general makes some underrated stuff, so check them out if you see one. The illuminated Modal logo does it for me too - I'm a sucker for that kind of thing..."

Sean R McKee - Illumatone Forest - Lumatone Performance

video upload by Sean McKee

"Music video for an instrumental song featuring the Lumatone Isomorphic Keyboard, Michael Barton Art custom 'Leo' bass, Strandberg guitar. Synth sounds from GS Music e7 [all the solo synth sounds], Hydrasynth Deluxe, sound effects with Erae Touch 2. All parts played by Sean R McKee.

All the videos I’ve seen of Lumatone were performed solo, with most exploring microtonality. I wanted to put Lumatone in a 'band' setting with a traditional Western tuning."

NINE INCH NAILS - A Warm Place (Cover - Prophet REV2 & Elektron Analog Heat+FX)

video upload by nicola neeco

"This is my reinterpretation of A Warm Place by Nine Inch Nails, originally from The Downward Spiral album.

Instead of recreating the dense layering of the original, I approached the piece with a more minimal setup, using the Sequential Prophet Rev2, routed into the Elektron Analog Heat+FX (for saturation, compression, eq & filter)

The sound of the synth comes from a complex patch I recently designed, actually built as two separate patches, one for each hand (split mode).
There’s a certain tonal character in this patch that reminds me of Lorn’s work: dark, emotional, and slightly detuned. That influence naturally found its way into this version.

This is less about replication and more about translation: trying to preserve the emotional core of the original while reshaping its sonic identity through a different instrument and perspective."
