Minimal Ambient on the Korg Volca FM2

video upload by Synth Codex

"I recorded this short fragment entirely on the Korg Volca FM2, effects included. No rush, no destination. Just a small, repeating idea left to unfold on its own.

I've been listening to a lot of Japanese ambient music artists lately, such as Hiroshi Yoshimura, Satoshi Ashikawa, Midori Takada, and many others. I wanted to try capturing some of that same spirit here: minimal by design, with room left for rests between notes for the listener to fill in.

Thanks for listening."

Bastl Thyme+ Sound Demo (no talking): A digital tape machine!

video upload by Synth Codex

"In this video, I run a few different audio sources through the Thyme+ to show off its range: from subtle tape warmth and classic stereo delays to aggressive pitch modulation and rhythmic glitches. No talking, just raw audio directly from the unit.
The Bastl Thyme+ is a hardware audio processor built around a digital tape-delay engine with multiple reading heads and dedicated modulation sources named Robots that can automate almost every knob on the panel.

What is Vox Humana?

video upload by George B.

"As an organ technician, Vox Humana has always been an organ stop. A sound from the Reed family of organ sounds that imitated the human voice. So when a viewer of a video I made about string ensemble sound said it sounded like a Vox Humana, I didn't get the connection. After I asked him to send me some examples he did. Gary Numan Cars was one of those examples. Well, the lead sound at the beginning does sound like a string ensemble sound. So In this video I examine this sound and discuss it's origin."

Oberheim Service Notes in Binder

This one was spotted and sent in via
M Me.

"Oberheim Service Notes from 1980's in Oberheim 3 Ring Binder
These documents comprise an official Oberheim issued compilation of Authorized Service Notes.

These are NOT Oberheim Technical Service Manuals.

They are Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) which are mostly circuit updates.

Each ECO has been implemented over time to improve the performance of a particular Oberheim Model.

They have been grouped to include all the changes to a particular model.

The OB-Xa Bulletins for example are grouped into the 100 series; The Expander is the 600 Series.

One would still refer to the actual Oberheim Service Manuals to actually perform these updates.

View this binder as an Addendum to each of the Service Manual models on the list.

The Bulletins cover:

Model_____ECO-Nmbr

OB-Xa_____100-145

DSX_______201-217

DMX_______301-338

OB-8_______402-442

DX_________501-512

Xpander_____602-631

DX-MIDI_____703-705 -after SN Q63603

Matrix-12_____805

Matrix-6______901-906_(2-901's-Maybe 2nd one SB907? 2 different dates)

XK__________1001-1002

DPX-1_______1102-1110, (Also 1101-1105 Dates again)

Prommer_____1201

There are no OB-Sx Service Notes.

There may be a couple of Service Notes missing. Either they went missing or were never there.

I used to be an Authorized Oberheim Service Center, but Oberheim went out of business

and resurrected as ECC Oberheim, then I believe went out a 2nd Time.

I lost on that deal - due to Unreimbursed Warranty Claims.

The package weighs over 6 LBS. which is charged as 7 LBS per USPS."

BOARDS OF CANADA - Sherbert Heat (COVER -Prophet REV2, Analog Heat+FX, OP-1 field)

video upload by nicola neeco

"Here’s my interpretation of Sherbert Head by Boards of Canada, from The Campfire Headphase album.
It’s a relatively underrated piece, but still one of the most beautiful short tracks they’ve ever made.

I used the Prophet Rev2, Elektron Analog Heat +FX, and Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field.
The Analog Heat was key in shaping the noise, saturation, and lo-fi texture that I wanted to bring into this version."
