The A-168-1 processes the drums and is modulated by one of its outputs. This results in some really nice distorted sounds, some really crazy overdrives... this module is also quite cheap...
The A-101-6 Six Stage Opto FET VCF, used in low pass mode, modulates some of the high frequencies...

"What if you could run an Elektron Machinedrum inside your computer?

In this video I'm taking a look at Gearmulator MD, an impressive emulation of the legendary Elektron Machinedrum, developed by Joe Landers as a fork of the Gearmulator project.

There is no talking in this video — just a quick look at the interface and a selection of the original factory patterns, so you can hear the emulation in action.

⚙️ ABOUT THE EMULATION

Gearmulator is a low-level emulation project that recreates the hardware used by several classic digital synthesizers and runs their original firmware.

Joe Landers' gearmulator-md-mm fork extends that work with emulations of the Elektron Machinedrum and Elektron Monomachine.

The result is not simply a software recreation inspired by the Machinedrum: it runs the original machine firmware on an emulated version of the underlying hardware.

At the time of making this video the project is still in alpha development, so expect things to continue evolving.

Vortex Rockstar Jam - New custom effects for Zoom MS-50G+ / MS-70CDR+

"Four new free effects for the Zoom MS-70CDR+ and MS-50G+: Rockstar, Pong Delay, Vortex and Duo Chorus. They run natively on the pedal, like any other effect.

Rockstar is a concert-hall reverb with a DownRez rate-crusher. I ported it from Airwindows kRockstar by Chris Johnson (MIT license).

Pong Delay is a true-stereo ping-pong delay with a resonant multimode filter. Based on mscHack PingPong by Mark Schack (MIT), with Rack 2 maintenance by @baconpaul and @pgatt.

Vortex is a twelve-mode multimode filter with resonance, drive and a dry/wet mix. Based on VortexMM and its filter DSP by wintoid and Yuriy Ivantsov (ivantsov-filters), both MIT.

Duo Chorus is a dual-line analogue-style chorus in true stereo. Based on MIT-licensed work by Charles Vestal and Peter Allwin, with hardware research by Andy Harman and Pendragon Software Limited, and a soft limiter by Emilie Gillet (stmlib).

The installer runs in the browser and backs up your pedal before it changes anything. There are fifteen free effects on the site."

One minute it's a synth, the next it's a sampler, a drum machine, a looper, or a strange effects processor. It doesn't feel like a normal synth, and it's not trying to be one.
