"I thought I would share some sounds from the Simmons SDS 1000 this week. For most of its time in my studio it its at the bottom of my desktop rack holding up other modules. Finally it's time to power it up again and see what it can do.

I have used just enough compressor and limiter to keep the sounds sensible. Everything else is 100% from the rack unit.

Update via the comments: "The kick drum is not analog but digital. According the manual: 'The bass is software generated directly by the computer. The snare is a digital sample of an acoustic drum, 4 different snare sounds are under program control. The tom-toms are synthesised using analogue circuitry.'"

"I looked at the Sledge a number of times, ever since it first came out and nearly went for it, however there was always something else. I recently managed to get a Black version and started to make some Patches, not with any real intention of doing a Bank of Patches, but just for a bit of fun.

While I've designed Sounds for more complex Synths, this has been a great experience making Patches on it. The scale and layout is what does it, so fast to make sounds on.

I initially made 100 Patches, however I then found out, that I could address some 'hidden' Filters, so I made 20 more and went over some of the others I already made.

So, here's the first 30...well, 31, I couldn't count!

Mostly use the Wavetables and FM, I did try with some Samples but couldn't get them to Loop, so decided to just make it easier and more compatible."

Remarkably similar sonically.. but slightly different beasts.

"J-wire keybed model - also with the improved power supply arrangement chassis mounted OFF the PCB. In great condition with some wear here and there, some markings on the lower keys - see photos. Please note that volume pot is a bit tilted, not a huge deal unless you're ocd. Newer solid walnut side cheeks. Just had in for service including: replaced bypass caps; cleaned pots, switches, key contacts; tuned & scaled. Sounds great, classic sounds and textures unlike anything else."
