Ferro - In The Studio

Published on Jan 2, 2018 FACTmagazine

"An analog den.

Jasper Verrijzer is an Amsterdam club scene mainstay. Working as a resident DJ and A&R for go-to imprint VBX Records, while producing house and techno as Ferro for the past three years, he's certainly tuned into the city's dance music frequencies.

After filming his impressive session for Against The Clock in November, we took a tour of Verrijzer's industrious studio space, which is located right in the centre of Amsterdam. Step inside his vintage synth and drum machine-packed utopia."

::vtol:: until I die

::vtol:: until I die from ::vtol:: on Vimeo.

"This installation operates on unique batteries that generate electricity using my blood. The electric current produced by the batteries powers a small electronic algorithmic synth module. This module creates generative sound composition that plays via a small speaker. The blood used in the installation was stored up gradually over 18 months. The conservation included a number of manipulations to preserve the blood’s chemical composition, color, homogeneity and sterility to avoid bacterial contamination. The total amount of blood conserved was around 4.5 liters; it was then diluted to yield 7 liters, the amount required for the installation. The blood was diluted with distilled water and preservatives such as sodium citrate, antibiotics, antifungal agents, glucose, glycerol etc. The last portion of blood (200ml) was drawn from my arm during the performance presentation, shortly before the launch of the installation.

Frostwave Space Beam

Published on Feb 15, 2017 Brian Comnes

via this auction

"One used Frostwave Space Beam, spatial sensing oscillator with control outputs. A theremin like device it uses the distance of your hand to raise or lower pitch. Best of all is that it also puts out control voltage (CV) for pitch and gate. Pitch CV ranges from 0-10 volts continuous and the gate CV goes from 0-8 volts. You can select the wave form from sine to triangle to square wave. You can set the response time from fast to slow with glide switch and also the range of the frequencies from low to high. See the short video about this unit for more info.

This is a rare device out of production."

A Minty Fresh Assblaster

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"One used Metasonix KV-100 Assblaster serial number 13 - a rare item, out of production and from a limited run. Barely used maybe 20 hours, virtually mint with power supply."

This one in via Brian Comnes:

"Reluctantly I am selling my Metasonix Assblaster. It's just not being used and I can use the bucks for some other items. Gotta like those graphics however. 8-)

So if you had achoice between adding an Eventide H9 pedal or getting asmall Linnstrument keyboard what would you choose.

When Buchla raised the price of the Easel AUX expander from $499 to $799 I dropped interest in that, sheesh you can get a lot of good synth stuff for $800."

You can find a demo video of the Metasonix KV-100 Assblaster here.

Enhancing a Bastl BitRanger with Synapsis and Breadboard

This one in via Brian Comnes.

It's a pic of the Bastl BitRanger with the Synapsis add on and an additional Breadboard.

"Synapsis is the pink add on for the BitRanger.

Its a matrix switcher 4 in 4 out with 16 permutations. The switches are momentary so you can patch it and then tweek the Bitranger, extending its playability.

I put the breadboard there to extend it even more

See http://www.bastl-instruments.com/instruments/bitranger/synapsis/

bitrman cv mod demo

Published on Jan 18, 2017 Brian Comnes

"Add CV to Alesis ModFX Bitrman. BEcause internal voltages are 0-3VDC, I had to add a simple voltage divider to reduce the sent voltage not to exceed 3 volts. Very simple with a 10K resistor on the + pole jooined by a 15K resistor from the negative pole. Then detach the center pins of the two pots for Bitr and Phasor and rout in the external voltage. Quite simple actually. Enjoy!! Sorry for low volume audio."

MF2 DIY Delay/Reverb with built in VCO

http://ewajustka.tumblr.com/?soc_src=mail&soc_trk=ma

The MF2 is super versatile audio synth or effect pedal, perfect for noise musicians as well doomcore lovers AS WELL AS FOR NORMAL PEOPLE who play guitars. or sing. not sure what normal people do.

It is a developed version of the MF1 Delay/Reverb pedal

It contains double PT2399 (double delay, double reverb), you can choose how much delay/reverb you want (basically wet/dry) and you can decide if you want to use both delays or one.

It also contains built in VCO with a clock also built in, you can choose if you want to use the internal clock but you can also use an external trigger/cv signal to control vco, which than can be fed into delay units. It also contains noise push button for extra feedback amount."

You can find the MF2 on Etsy here.

MATRIXSYNTH T-shirt Sighting at Oregon Fringe Festival 2016

Brian Comnes sporting a MATRIXSYNTH T at the Oregon Fringe Festival 2016. That's a Doepfer Pocket Dial MIDI controller in front of him.  Side note: the pic was taken by none other than Todd Barton.  Todd has also been known to sport a MATRIXSYNTH T.

Also according to Brian "I think Ashland with 3 Easels in 22000 people probably has the highest per capita Easel density of any where. The easel performance that night was by Bruce Bayard who has the third Easel in town. I was using Ableton Live to deliver a soundscape to back up my video piece."

Thank you Brian and Todd!
