"Up for sale is one of our three beloved DNVO-1s from JMT Synth. This is his flagship model and the most requested desktop synth in our studio. For fans of Skychord/ KingCapitolPunishment/ Soma, though nothing in the 'noise/drone synth' category can touch the versatility and musicality of JMT's top shelf designs. Additionally, while the Skychord and Trogotronics synths are amazing in their own right, they are made using PCBs. JMT synths are 100% hand made, hand-wired and discrete, with no two sounding alike. This particular box was built to order by designer Tetsuji Masuda, and purchased directly from JMT Japan as a backup when our others (including the one with the blue status light in the video below) were tied up making otherworldly sounds for season two of a particular N__f___ series we worked on. It has seen no real use outside of testing. 100% hand made, hand-wired and discrete. CV input (VCO), 3 sub-oscillators, noise generator, 3-range VCF that can be tuned to the input signal, proprietary oscillator, military-grade build spec, can run on 1 9V battery or standard center-negative 9v PSU. I own a number of JMTs and this was my third DNVO1. (We're also parting with two of our UNVO1s--click on "seller's other items" to check them out. They're in equally pristine condition.) "This is a synth drum with a built-in self-oscillating VCF.

It is equipped with a wideband oscillator and has a strong SWEEP effect.
​
You can create various tones by tapping on the body or with an external trigger (sequencer or piezo).
​
The oscillator has a thicker sound from highs to lows, and the waveform can be selected as TRIANGLE or SAWTOOTH.
​
SWEEP is set to be applied very strongly, so adjust it in conjunction with CUT OFF COARSE.

SUSUTAIN Setting of the decay time from the onset of sound
​
SENSITIVITY TRIGGER (When the plug is inserted into the trigger, the internal trigger of the unit is turned off) is to adjust the input sensitivity of the SENSITIVITY TRIGGER.
​
LFO.F controls the amount of LFO applied to the filter and LFO.
​
LFO.O controls the amount of LFO applied to the oscillator.
​
FINE is a finer pitch control for the oscillator than COARSE.
​
The RESONANCE oscillates at maximum and the pitch can be changed with the CUT OFF knob.

It can be powered by either a center minus 9V DC or 9V battery.

"Center minus DC9V adapter or effector that applies battery-driven analog drum synth circuit.

The sound input from the input is input to the drum synthesizer circuit with built-in filter when the EFEECT switch is turned on and hits the top of the main unit, or in response to the GATE / TRIGGER input from TRI IN, the sound is released from mute and set by SUSTAIN. It rises and sinks and disappears.

Since SWEEP is applied to the filter, the effect changes depending on the CUT OFF and RESONANCE knob settings. The effect is like a wah.

CV IN allows CV input to the filter.
The built-in function to convert GATE into an optimal signal for analog drum TRIGGER will respond correctly to both TRIGGER and GATE.

When inputting a piezo or drum pad trigger to TRIG IN, it is necessary to open the back cover and turn off the internal slide switch. In that case, the built-in piezo will be turned off and will not respond even if you hit the body.

When the EFFECT switch is turned OFF, the INPUT sound is bypassed to OUTPUT.

KD-2 runs on only DC9V negative center.

The signal from INPUT is mute while "effect" is on.And to tap the case or the external trigger from "TRI IN" make the signal sounds and turn dowm as the time setting by "SUSTAIN" level.

"SWEEP" makes "wah"sound with "CUT OFF" and "RESONANCE".
CV IN is for VCF(band pass and low pass filter).

This model consists of two VCOs (oscillators), SAMPLE & HOLD, noise generator, low-pass filter, LFO, VCA, and envelope generator to create a powerful sound.

The variable range is wide enough to produce a variety of sounds. The filter is a 4-pole filter that works very smoothly, and external audio can be input via A IN.

You can also use it with a sequencer to create even more sounds.

The top is an acrylic panel and the bottom is a sturdy die-cast aluminum case.

The adapter is not included.

Please use center negative 9V POWER SUPPLY or A 9V battery.

"This is a spring reverb with a real spring in it. The sound from the input goes into a clean boost, the filter and spring reverb circuit.　The filter has the cut- off freq control knob.The CLEAN, REVERB, FILTER, is the respective volume. There is a master volume that controls the overall sound.The switch is an electronic switch that switches the bypass on and the effect sound. All are analogue circuits.

Custom JMT UNVO-1 (Drone)

"- EDIT TO ADD - I just heard that Gershon Kingsley passed away. Sad to hear; I spoke to Gershon a number of times last year in relation to his piano music (Gershon improvised at piano, so no scores existed; I was transcriber for his works). The transcription project remained unfinished/my contact was with Gershon directly, so if Gershon's publishers happen across this and are looking to speak RE his scores, they can drop me a line via my email (krislennoxpiano@gmail.com). To the video at hand:

A short while back I was working on quite a large-scale/major project that required copious quantities of noise; possibly the finest noise synth presently on the market (with the most diverse range of noise-based sounds) is the JMT UNVO-1. I contacted Tetsuji and asked him if he'd build me a custom/modified model, which is what you are seeing here.

Great instrument. Very powerful oscillators. I'll upload some videos demonstrating the 'noise' side of the UNVO-1 (in context with other instruments etc), but the included is possibly more accessible as a first listen/introduction to the instrument.

Tetsuji's instruments are quite impeccable - and his attention to detail is on another level. Granted, the uses of an instrument such as this are relatively limited, but if you're working on a noise-based sound design project, it is a no-brainer.

I asked Tetsuji to build the case in olive drab, as when used as a noise synth, it is distinctly reminiscent of an old military radio (pure noise through to squelch sounds etc). Tetsuji agreed that the aesthetic works well for the synth.

I also suggested he take some photos from during the build phase: he sent a few through, and I also have a selection of the innards that I took when the synth arrived. "Getting back to my electronic music roots! As a young teenager I built several small oscillator circuits I found in electronics magazines and put several into one box, all crudely interconnected, and made some of my first electronic music recordings with it. I spied this lovely @JMT SYNTH LD-2 for a good deal and could resist a large metal box full of knobs and switches! 😻🥰🤓 All sound and effects are from this LD-2 except for some reverb from a Yamaha MG10XU mixing board."
