This version is true to Original miniKORG 700S, the distorted 'Triangle' wave is heard here.
The filter compared to the KORG 800DV is much resonant and aggressive. After hearing it myself, the miniKORG 700FS has a more 'Quirky' filter than the 800DV.

"Initially, I was inspired by the live version of 'Wings', in how Kitaro managed to improvise throughout the whole piece live amazes me when I listened for the first time. Now, this project have been left for awhile which I wanted to do for a long time, now I feel it is the right time to release it together with the improvisation. In the end, it came out quite nicely, enjoy it! Thank you!

ps: I am arranging my set up and anticipating the new miniKORG700FS (late August) to be put up above the Korg 800DV. That's why the Juno106 is at the other rack."

Kitaro 喜多郎 - Free Flight 飛翔 Cover


"I always like the 'Live in Yakushiji' version of 'Free Flight'. This version has an epic ending.
This time, I tried to attempt a short version of this song.
Most of the sounds are from the Korg 01/W: Animotion pad (combi), Choir.

There was a slight fumbling in-between the changing of sounds (800DV to 700S Square) but I did not want to cut off the video as I wanted to retain all in one shot.

Fun Fact: This Korg 800DV was one of the earlier units produced from my research. Also, the later units have the smaller logo at the right instead of the larger one, at the left side. This units does not have the Pedal connector input (VCF FK-1) like the later production units."

"The "miniKORG 700S" released in the 1970s was reprinted by KORG in a limited production. I got it, so I made a review video immediately.
This synthesizer was the "first synthesizer" I first encountered when I was in high school. The feelings I wanted at that time will come true now! Thank you Korg.
I think it's a very attractive instrument, such as "It's a genuine analog synth that isn't found in recent digital synths." "At the same time, it has features that couldn't be realized in the 1970s." ..

This instrument looks very small, but it's heavy enough to slip out! !!

A toast to the revival of a famous machine that will throw a stone in the way musical instruments should be!"

Physical Modeling
The physical modeling oscillator includes the three types below. All types feature the wide tonal range that is unique to physical modeling.

Brass Model Oscillator
This oscillator simulates brass instruments such as trumpets and trombones. It uses controllers like key velocity and mod wheel to modulate the strength of blowing into the mouthpiece, and can create performances that are similar to real brass instruments.

Reed Model Oscillator
This oscillator simulates woodwind instruments like saxophones and flutes. It uses controllers like key velocity and mod wheel to modulate the wind pressure, and can create performances that are similar to real woodwind instruments.

Plucked String Oscillator
This oscillator simulates plucked string instruments like guitar and bass. It can model different methods of picking the string, like using a pick or fingers, as well as modelling the condition of the strings, and the positions of strings that are played.

There are 128 preset programs, broken up into 14 categories. There is also a category for user programs, a favorites bank for registering your most used sounds, and program change mapping. The two optional expansion cards sold for the original hardware are also available: ANALOG & VINTAGE, which features 64 analog-style bass, lead, and special effect sounds, and MODERN MODELS, which contains 64 programs of acoustic instruments that do not exist, wind instrument sounds, and sounds that take full advantage of the expressive capabilities of the synth.

The original miniKORG 700S was a 2VCO, 2VCF, 1EG, 1LFO monophonic synthesizer. Because synthesizers were not as common as they are today, its circuitry was unique. For example, when developing the triangle wave oscillator, the engineers aimed to create a circuit that produced a beautifully musical sound rather than a scientifically accurate one.
In addition to the oscillator circuit, the low and high pass filters were combined into a single, unique part called the Traveler Controller, which was a distinctive feature of KORG’s early synthesizers.
Instead of a more traditional ADSR style envelope, the miniKORG700s allows the user to control the shape of the sound with two sliders; one that controls attack time and decay time, and one that controls sustain level and release time. These quirks and more have all been faithfully reproduced in the software version.

The miniKORG 700S for Mac and Windows not only faithfully recreates the functionality and sounds of the original miniKORG 700S’s various parameters, but also includes many additional capabilities that bring the synthesizer into the modern era, and make it suitable for any music production environment.

There are more than 150 preset programs included with the miniKORG700s, split into 13 different categories like leads and basses. Ranging from sounds overflowing with vintage flavor to complex timbres you wouldn’t think could be created with such a simple interface, there is a huge variety of sounds available to choose from. Of course, you can add your own sounds to the library as well.

The graphical user interface (GUI) of the miniKORG 700S for Mac and Windows has realistically recreated the appearance of the original miniKORG 700S in both 2D and 3D. You can freely switch between the two, opting for the experience of using a hardware synthesizer or the convenience of a software synthesizer. There are also three screen sizes you can easily switch between to fit your environment without affecting the image quality for both the standalone and plugin versions.
In addition to the GUI, the various plugin parameters can also be controlled using MIDI CC, allowing you flexible, real-time control via a MIDI controller or Digital Audio Workstation

via this auction, also on Reverb "Unbelievably rare miniKORG 700S, the update 'S' edition that is truly rare. I bought this from the original owner in a huge job lot of gear he'd collected over decades. This one required a huge clean down and is now looking very good indeed. In full working order, except a few scratchy pots (nothing significant). The two 'pitch' sliders have broken off, but still work and are easy to use. The far right key is slightly lifted too, but still plays when pressed. Both of these issues don't affect playability but the price reflects them. Otherwise beautiful! You'll not be disappointed. Please check out the pictures below as they form part of our description."

Our N-STH (Noise + Sample/Track & Hold) is used to provide white noise for extra snare sound, S&H routed to the HP filter of the VCF-74, and Track & Hold from another N-STH is used to slew the pitch of the CV controlling the VCO-81 (pitch) 1v/octave.

"Really nice MiniKorg 700s K2, circa 1974. This unit has been retrofitted with MIDI by CHS Electroservis. In fact, it's the very keyboard they used for their promo shots! Excellent condition indeed.

This is the rarer version that includes the fine-tuning knob for the second oscillator, as well as the nicer switches for that section.

One minute airy, the next wooly and present. Tangible, immediate, and expressive, the 700 series is hands down one my favorite synthesizers — I’ve owned four… see attached video of another, stickered K2.

VOLTAGE: please note this synth is wired for 220, so it requires a voltage converter ($20-30 on Amazon)."

"Why revive the miniKORG 700 now?

The real beauty and awesomeness of the sounds produced by the miniKORG 700 could not be realized through analog modeling technology that uses computational integrated circuitry such as DSPs and other devices to model analog circuitry. And although KORG continues to produce analog synthesizers such as the prologue, the minilogue and many others, we recognize that these instruments owe their existence to the miniKORG 700.

While theoretical know how is important when designing analog circuitry, deep experience is also required to understand what the results will actually be once the circuitry is completed. Ten years have passed since the monotron, a next-generation analog product from 2010 was developed by young KORG engineers and analog enthusiasts. It took some time for the full vision of these engineers to be explored and delivered but at last we’ve finally arrived – at the start.

Our wish is for customers to experience the beauty and awesomeness of the authentic analog sound through the miniKORG 700FS designed by the KORG analog engineers under the supervision of Fumio Mieda, who designed the original circuitry, ensuring that the elements that go beyond the circuit schematics would be faithfully represented.

"Made in Japan, from 1975-1977, the Korg 900PS is a rare model...."big brother" to the 700S. Having twin oscillators, 37 keys (with aftertouch via the keys, or by touching the metal rail on front), 29 presets, portamento, white noise & percussive or voices, plus "harmonics" using 4 octaves (like drawbars), and the famous "traveller" (like a filter)...all this adds up to a high-performance, hands-on synthesizer.
Running @ 220/240 Vac (fixed mains cord), weight is around 13 Kgs, dims being 85 x 40 x 15 cms. Everything works, except the on/off switch does not switch off, and there are two fader caps missing. Synth has been serviced, so all faders & switches are crackle-free, and is all safe & sound inside. The wooden end-blacks were tatty, so they have been repaired, then painted in black. Generally, the 900PS is now in a "very good" condition, better than normal for a 44-y-old instrument."
