QuNeo Now Supported by Over 30 Popular Music Applications
"QuNeo Now Supported by Over 30 Popular Music Applications
Exciting new integration for FL Studio, Reason, VirtualDJ and Spark
BERKELEY, California – June 27, 2013 – Keith McMillen Instruments, developer of the most expressive instruments for making music with computers, announced today a new wave of music software integration for its QuNeo 3D Multi-touch pad controller.
QuNeo, the most expressive pad controller on the market, is now the most widely supported. QuNeo works out of the box with over 30 music applications, yet allows for easy tweaking to suit every player's needs.
This video [above] shows over 30 applications that can be controlled by QuNeo!
FL Studio 11
FL Studio is one of the most widely used music production software applications. The recent release FL Studio 11 by Image-Line Software includes native support for QuNeo and a new Performance mode for clip-launching.
"Image-Line is happy to include QuNeo as a supported MIDI controller in FL Studio," said Image-Line Communications Manager, Scott Fisher. "FL Studio 11's new Performance mode allows QuNeo users to do live triggering of their playlist clips."
QuNeo launching clips in FL Studio 11's new Performance mode.
Reason 7
Reason is a popular and powerful music production studio from Propellerhead Software. Released in April, Reason 7 includes built in control surface support for QuNeo.
“Controlling Reason with QuNeo gives you a different way to approach your music making, and the unique controller offers some really exciting features for interacting with your Reason rack,” said Propellerhead Product Specialist, Mattias Häggström Gerdt.
It's now easier than ever to use QuNeo's X-Y location and pressure sensitive pads to bring expressive levels of performance control to Reason. Each of QuNeo's pads can act as both a keyboard key and a 3-D effects joystick. QuNeo's additional sliders, rotaries and buttons provide even more ways to interact with Reason.
VirtualDJ
VirtualDJ is a popular DJ software application with a large, world-wide user base. In partnership with KMI, Atomix Productions has developed a QuNeo preset and control surface mapping for VirtualDJ which provides a wide range of performance options.
"It was a real pleasure working with QuNeo and the KMI staff to bring such a versatile product to VirtualDJ users, and we look forward to working with other products from Keith McMillen," said Atomix Hardware Development Engineer, Chris Stoll.
Users can scratch, crossfade between decks, alter the tempo of tracks, control loops, filters, effects and key changes, access cue points, and trigger samples. When scratching with QuNeo’s rotaries, looping or hot cue triggering, users can leverage Virtual DJ’s “Slip Mode” which automatically returns the track to the point where it would be if none of these actions had occurred.
Arturia Spark
Arturia's innovative software instruments are a natural fit with QuNeo. In partnership with Arturia, KMI has developed QuNeo control surface mappings and a custom QuNeo preset for Spark, Spark Vintage Drum Machines, Spark DubStep and Spark EDM.
Using QuNeo factory presets, users can play individual pads or drum patterns, perform drum loop manipulation, and control effects. The custom Spark QuNeo preset provides more advanced features like additional effects control, the use of QuNeo’s rotaries, and the ability to activate transport controls from QuNeo.

"Limitless Fun with QuNeo's Enhanced Note Mode!
Now available as a free standalone app or Max for Live device
BERKELEY, California – June 13, 2013 – Keith McMillen Instruments, developer of the most expressive instruments for making music with computers, announced today its Enhanced Note Mode for QuNeo 3D Multi-touch Pad Controller.
Take your QuNeo performance to the next level
QuNeo's new Enhanced Note Mode maps QuNeo's pads to the notes of nine musical scales, while setting the tonic to any of 12 notes. Players can select any of the scales and then jam away without worrying about hitting a wrong note. The scales included in Enhanced Note Mode are Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, and Locrian, as well as Major Pentatonic and Minor Pentatonic.
Harmonizer
Enhanced Note Mode includes a powerful harmonizer that can add complimentary pitches to each note being played. The timing of the additional harmonizer pitches can be offset to create a rhythmically compelling cascade of notes.
Adding Pitches: QuNeo's far left vertical slider controls the number of additional pitches added to a note. As the value of the slider increases, pitches are layered upon the original note–one octave below, one fifth above, one octave above, and two octaves above.
Offset: QuNeo's second vertical slider offsets the additional harmonizing pitches in time. As the value of the slider increases, the offset time grows from simultaneous to as much as a quarter note.
Pitch Bend
In Enhanced Note Mode, each pad can produce independent vibrato or deep pitch bends at the touch of a finger. Pitch bend sensitivity can be adjusted to suit the player's preference.
LED Feedback
QuNeo's multi-colored LEDs give players guidance in navigating the notes of the different scales. Keys that are illuminated in green are the root notes of the scale. Keys illuminated in orange correspond to the 2nd, 4th, and 6th notes of the scale. Keys illuminated in red are the 3rd, 5th, and 7th notes of the scale.
Octave Switching
QuNeo's arrow buttons in the lower right corner can shift the register up or down within a nine octave range.
Enhanced Note Mode can be downloaded for free as a Max for Live* device, an editable Max patch, or as a standalone application for Mac OS and Windows. Use it in series with any synthesizer or DAW application.
*To use the Max for Live version of Enhanced Note Mode, you must have either Ableton Live 8 Suite or Ableton Live 9 Suite installed on your computer. Additionally, you must have a version of Cycling '74's Max 5 (Suite 8) or Max 6.1.2 (Suite 9).

Blofeld & K-Board - The Storyteller - pads & atmos
Published on Aug 18, 2017
"I bought a few months ago the #KeithMcMillen #KBoard thinking to take it with me on the road.
Didn't know entirely that this is a very interesting controller, but with a moody personality. If sometimes everything is OK with it, other times the K-Board can go crazy: buttons are not responding well (see later in video), notes are getting stuck etc, but nothing that cannot be resolved with a reset or a reconnection to the computer. And that's why I wanted to sell it a few times!
But everytime I connect the K-Board to #Blofeld or Roland JU-06, I see the great capabilities through its #Press, #Tilt, #Velo features. Especially with Blofeld, where we have a matrix of routings and this way you can blend almost perfectly with the K-Board.
In this video I'm showing a few pads and atmospheric & fx sounds from The Storyteller preset bank I made a while ago.
The patches are available on: http://www.albaecstasy.ro/waldorf-blo...
Enjoy!

"Music technology ace and ambient electronic music artist Sarah Howe glides through dozens of ways SoftStep can be used for real time control and expression.
'I found out about the SoftStep not too long ago... it's a really cool addition to my electronic music setup. It's extremely convenient and can fit inside my backpack.'
'Most keyboardists, like to use both hands at ounce. To do some kind of effect while I'm playing I would have to leave the keyboard and move my hand. I don't have to do that (use my hands) with SoftStep.'
'The SoftStep is by itself without the computer, stand alone.'
'Anything that accepts MIDI information you can use with a SoftStep.'
