Exploring the Yamaha SK30 Mono Bass Voice

Published on Jan 19, 2016 Mike Kiraly

"Playing around with the Mono/Bass Voice of the Yamaha SK30 via CV. There is a separate fully polyphonic synth section, as well as a string synth and organ, all of which can be mixed together or routed individually. I hadn't really heard of the SK series before, but I'm glad I found this one - it's really a beautiful sounding synth and they go for reasonable prices in the secondhand market."

First moments with a Korg Prophecy

Published on Mar 24, 2015 Mike Kiraly

"Grabbed this Prophecy off Craigslist for almost nothing. It needed some love - a few buttons weren't working and some sticky keys. Took care of those issues this morning and plugged it in. Sounds pretty good even after 20 years of neglect and abuse."

Tuesday Night Live

Published on Apr 1, 2014 Mike Kiraly

"Decided to record a quick live improvisation session. This is one of the methods I use for creating sounds for new material. No pre-planning or prep work. No editing or mixing. Just turn it all on, hit record, press some buttons and twist some knobs. It never turns out perfect, but there is usually some cool bits to develop further upon later (I think the breakdown 7.30 min is worth revisiting for a new track)"
