Knobcon performance in the Big Room with a metallic and cinematic all-modular techno set, and I loved every second of it.
Big ups to Mike Cameron for the invite to play this year, to Damon / OSC1Nation and Skyler / KittySpit for being so supportive since the beginning of my modular journey, to Nick / Dub Station Zero for being my hype man, to Brandy / Space Racer for mega support, to the Noise Engineering team for getting me to this con to feature the new Xer Mixa and hang with so many great people at the booth, and to Patrick Leonard for being a constant mentor and inspiration.

Los Angeles, CA — Noise Engineering is back with two modules for a new 6HP Eurorack platform: Virt Iter Legio and Librae Legio.
Virt Iter Legio is a stereo oscillator with a distinct and versatile sound. Its three modes – Bass, SawX, and Harm – will be familiar to users of Noise Engineering’s free Virt Vereor plugin or those who have the Arturia Microfreak, both of which are based on the same algorithms.
Virt Iter Legio features independent left and right phase-modulation inputs, a sync input, and a lush vintage-inspired chorus. This small oscillator puts unique sounds right at your fingertips and makes them easy to manipulate within the stereo field. Virt Iter Legio works well for beautiful pads, hard-hitting basses, and leads that can be simple or otherworldly.

Librae Legio was designed to work with any type of patch. It’s great for limiting, compression, and expansion. Noise Engineering says they created it to be able to be applied as transparently as possible, but also so that you can crank the settings to really squish your sounds for maximal crunch. And of course they added a saturation stage that you can engage if you wish for some slight harmonic distortion: it adds a touch of color and some tape-like effects to louder elements. It’s also CV controllable and works great with mono or stereo signals.
The team had a great time testing this one on drum breaks, bass loops, hard techno, generative ambient soundscapes, and more. They also added an adjustable noise gate so that users could choose a setting to minimize noise accentuated by heavy compression in their patch. Librae Legio also has a sidechain filter that the user can set to change the behavior of the dynamics processing.
A platform a long time in the making
The Legio platform was first announced at NAMM 2020 with Virt Iter. The team mentioned that they’d heard from a lot of customers who were eager to get the module in their systems but parts shortages, supply-chain woes, and other problems meant multiple delays and redesigns of the product to make it work with available parts. The result was something even they were amazed with. In fact, while product testing is a job everyone on the team is excited about, they all agreed that they were unanimously over the moon with how these modules came out.

"Los Angeles, CA — Modular synthesizer company Noise Engineering, known for their innovative Eurorack modules, has announced three additions to their Alia oscillator platform: Ataraxic Iteritas Alia, Cursus Iteritas Alia, and Incus Iteritas Alia.
In 2023, Noise Engineering released the 10HP Alia platform, marking the return of their Iteritas oscillators. Alia launched with the famed Basimilus Iteritas firmware, along with Manis Iteritas and the new Debel Iteritas, but the team promised firmwares in the near future.
Now, Noise Engineering has delivered, doubling the number of firmwares available for Alia. Cursus Iteritas Alia and Ataraxic Iteritas Alia are revamped versions of the originals, promising to sound nearly identical to the originals with improved encoder tuning, a suboscillator output, and a performable Hold button. Noise Engineering Debuts Roucha Legio, Stereo Filter/DSP Platform

Los Angeles, CA and Berlin, Germany — Boutique modular synthesizer company Noise Engineering announced Roucha Legio, a stereo resonant multimode filter with wavefolding, 1V/octave tracking, and gateable bypass, at Superbooth. The Eurorack module is available May 11.
Roucha Legio is a 12dB/octave state-variable stereo multimode filter. It is the fourth module in the Legio series of many that the Noise Engineering team has said they are working on.
“We argued for so long about the core of this firmware. We started with something completely different but we just couldn’t quite agree on the finer points. So we took a step back and decided that we should probably work on a filter, since people have been asking for one for years,” said Kris Kaiser, Doer of Many Things at Noise Engineering. “The next firmware Stephen dropped for us to test was so much fun that our team Slack workspace went silent while we all started patching. We knew this was the one.”
Roucha Legio features lowpass, bandpass, and highpass filter settings. The filter frequency is adjustable via the dedicated encoder or the one-volt-per-octave CV input. Roucha Legio is designed not to self-oscillate without an input signal, but once a signal is added, the Resonance control can offer anything from clean to the squelch of an acid house bassline. Resonance is also CV-able, which means filter sweeps are easy to achieve.
Noise Engineering has a love for wavefolders, so of course there is a Fold knob, with a switch that configures the placement of fold in the signal chain before, after, or both before and after the filter.
Roucha Legio also features a bypass control. Tap the encoder to bypass the DSP, and tap again to re-enable it. The dedicated Bypass gate input also works to bypass the filter while the input is high.
Roucha Legio is part of the Noise Engineering Legio DSP/oscillator platform. Users can change the firmware on any Legio module, completely free, to any other firmware in the Legio series via USB. Current offerings include the Virt Iter Legio oscillator (based on the same algorithms that Noise Engineering contributed to the Arturia MicroFreak and MiniFreak), Tymp Legio drum voice, and Librae Legio dynamics processor.
To help keep the panel controls straight with all the different firmwares available, Noise Engineering also offers laser-etched, impact-acrylic panel overlays that fit right over the existing panel. Overlays are available in silver with black text or black with white text, and as individual panels or in discounted multipacks.

Los Angeles, CA — Digital-forward modular synthesizer company Noise Engineering has announced Alia, a new 10HP oscillator platform module. With Alia, the team brings back Basimilus and Manis, two of their beloved synth voices. Alia also launched with a whole new synth voice, Debel Iteritas Alia, a unique hybrid take on phase modulation and additive synthesis.
The previous incarnation of the Iteritas modules was discontinued a few months ago when the processor it was built on was end-of-lifed. “We lived in fear of that development for years, but we didn’t have a viable alternative. We had been thinking about a way off of that processor for some time, but when the part was EOLed, we got motivated. It was a long time before we were confident we could make it work, though,” said Kris Kaiser, Doer of Many Things at Noise Engineering.
The revamped Basimilus Iteritas Alia and Manis Iteritas Alia have a near identical sound to the originals, and a few added features. “When we had to discontinue the BIA and the Manis, quite a few customers reached out asking us to bring them back,” says Markus Cancilla, Noise Engineering’s Chief of Destruction. “The new Alia platform allowed us to bring back our old favorites with a few improvements, and experiment with entirely new concepts, too.”
The platform concept will be a familiar feature to Noise Engineering’s customers. The Versio lineup introduced the idea of swappable firmware to the Noise Engineering ecosystem in 2020, and now has 9 different FX firmwares now available for the platform. Legio followed as a smaller platform in 6HP now with four firmwares. Alia follows suit, launching with three firmwares available and even more on the way, according to NE. As with the existing Versio and Legio platforms, firmware is free for Alia owners and swappable at any time from their Customer Portal. The team expects to offer hot swappable overlays for the different Alia firmwares in the near future.
Along with the return of the BIA and the Manis, the Debel Iteritas Alia is a completely new synth voice based around an additive phase-modulation architecture. Debel continues Noise
Engineering’s reputation for putting a huge amount of timbral range behind a small number of parameters, and bringing new ideas in synthesis to an easy-to-navigate interface. It uses a few different configurations of four-operator PM with each operator comprising four oscillators. Traditional FM sounds are easy to create, but can be instantly brought into entirely new territory with the tweak of a parameter or some external CV. Also in line with Noise Engineering’s ethos of not taking themselves too seriously, Debel features Taco, Nacho, and Diablo modes. “The name and the panel have about a million inside jokes. We had a lot of fun with this firmware,” said Stephen McCaul, Chief Noisemaker.

Noise Engineering expands growing Versio lineup with Ruina and Electus Versio
Los Angeles, California: Noise Engineering announces Ruina Versio and Electus Versio. Ruina Versio is a new stereo distortion encompassing a number of different distortion concepts, and Electus Versio is a clockable reverb/delay, inspired by the popular Desmodus Versio.
Ruina Versio is available as a dedicated module, or users can update any Versio module to the Ruina or Electus firmwares for free. Customers with any Versio module who wish to download alternate firmwares can make an account at the NE Customer Portal to download any existing Versio firmware to their modules for free.
Ruina Versio is a stereo distortion and effects module, and DSP platform. It includes the Noise Engineering infinifolder (featured on modules like the Basimilus Iteritas Alter), multiband drive and filtering, a phase control, full-wave rectification, a DOOM knob, and a Smoosh button that adds 128dB of gain to the input when pressed. Rearrange the internal signal chain and activate a notch filter with the flip of a switch. All knobs are CVable, and the distortion is stereo in and stereo out, meaning you can use it to process all your stereo modules in your system -- or, run a mono sound into it and use the effects to create stereo width.
Ruina Versio is also part of the Versio family. All Versio firmwares are cross-compatible: just log onto the Noise Engineering Customer Portal to swap any Versio product to any different firmware. There are currently five firmwares available, including delay, reverbs, distortion, and dynamics processing, with many more in the works.

Electus Versio is a unique atmospheric creation tool: not quite a reverb and not quite a delay, it’s the more aggressive clocked counterpart to the popular Desmodus Versio. It shares most of the same controls with Desmodus, but adds a tap-tempo button, clock input and divider/multiplier, and a switch to choose between three delay structures. It runs the gamut from simple clocked delays to infinite distorted atmospheres and everything in between and beyond. Electus Versio will not be sold as a separate module, but Versio owners can download Electus now as an alternate firmware for free at the Customer Portal.

In 2022, Noise Engineering released the highly anticipated Virt Iter Legio, the inaugural module on the 6HP Legio platform, a compact counterpart to the Versio effects platform. Sinc Legio brings another free-running oscillator to the platform with three new oscillator algorithms.
According to Noise Engineering, Sinc Legio pays homage to one of the company’s earliest modules, Sinc Iter, and was designed around wavemorphing and stereo phase modulation. One of Sinc Legio’s most interesting features are its stereo phase modulation inputs, opening up unique possibilities for stereo patching. It also includes algorithms based around two flavors of PM and wavefolding for complex sound creation, no extra modules required, for simpler patches. LOS ANGELES, CA, USA: Noise Engineering is proud to expand its software offerings by announcing availability of Polydactyl and Librae, two new dynamics-processing plug-ins presenting many flavors of compression, expansion, limiting, and distortion — Polydactyl being designed for anything from subtle mixing tasks to complete sonic destruction as a multiband processor, while Librae is made for mixing, mastering, sound design, and stereo-field experimentation — as of April 20…
“From the start, these plug-ins were intended for clean mastering, sound design, and coloration,” comments Noise Engineering Chief Plumber Adam Lange-Pearson, one of two software engineers behind Polydactyl and Librae. “While we worked on these, our chat threads were full for months with picky feedback about levels and sound quality, and heated ergonomics discussion,” he continues, concluding: “By the end, I am pretty sure we argued over every pixel in each meter at least once.”
Ostensibly, Polydactyl is a multiband processor inspired by over-the-top and aggressive techniques, yet it is designed to be versatile enough to be used in almost any mix. Featuring four adjustable bands — plus Pre and Post — to precisely sculpt the dynamics of audio tracks with separate per-section controls for Blend, Gain, Room, Floor, Release, and Stereo Link, the bands can be dialed in individually or the Link function can be utilized to quickly apply user settings across multiple bands (though turning Link off makes it simple to set each band as needed).
Though those controls break away from traditional dynamics-processing layouts, they simplify the workflow for dialing in subtle (or not-so-subtle) dynamics. Dedicated distortion controls such as Saturate, Soft Drive and Hard Drive (with associated Soft Blend and Hard Blend controls for clipping distortion), Zero Pop (for zero-crossing distortion), and output level are also included in each section, which can also be bypassed or soloed.
Saying that, the clean interface of Polydactyl provides a huge range of visual feedback. First and foremost, the frequency spectrum meter displays the output level across the audio spectrum and is interactive — click and drag the lines to adjust the band splits; select bands for further adjustment. Additionally, Polydactyl includes a scalable envelope display to show processing over time and global In and Out VU meters. Moreover, each stage also includes a static curve meter to demonstrate the compression and expansion applied to the signal, and In and Out VU meters.
Librae is a mid/side and stereo dynamics processor with separate controls for Pre, Mid, Side, and Post stages. Duly designed for transparency, Librae is made for master-bus applications, but the team behind the plug-in put a lot of thought into making it a capable tool for creative processing and sound design. Many of its controls are similar to those on Polydactyl. Put it this way: Librae also has separate per-stage controls for Blend, Gain, Saturate, Room, Floor, Release, and Stereo Link, plus distortion controls like Saturate, Soft Drive and Hard Drive (with dedicated Soft Blend and Hard Blend), Zero Pop, and output-level controls. Its Pre and Post stages also feature shelf-EQ weight controls to adjust how the plug-in’s dynamics processing responds to the incoming signal. Librae features a Global Mid < - > Side balance control for easy adjustment. Similarly, each section can also be bypassed or soloed.
It is easy to understand Librae, though, thanks to a detailed graphical interface featuring a goniometer displaying the correlation between the input channels and an envelope display showing processing over time. Each processing stage features a dedicated graphical display with a static curve meter to show the curve applied to the signal, In and Out VU meters, and a weighting graph to visualize the detector shelf EQ weighting (with adjustable Weight High and Weight Low) on the stage input.
In keeping with all Noise Engineering plug-ins, Polydactyl and Librae are designed for automation and each include an extensive internal modulation matrix with LFOs and step sequencers that can be routed to almost any parameter. Moreover, modulators have adjustable randomization for easy humanization.
Intuitive in use from first being opened, Polydactyl and Librae both come complete with a sizeable number of Noise Engineering-provided presets — ranging from subtle and transparent to aggressive and in-your-face — to kickstart anyone in need of inspiration. If more than that is needed then the rand (random) and nudge buttons (to generate and tweak patches in one click) are sure to get creative juices flowing.

Ostensibly, Polydactyl is a multiband processor inspired by over-the-top and aggressive techniques, yet it is designed to be versatile enough to be used in almost any mix. Featuring four adjustable bands — plus Pre and Post — to precisely sculpt the dynamics of audio tracks with separate per-section controls for Blend, Gain, Room, Floor, Release, and Stereo Link, the bands can be dialed in individually or the Link function can be utilized to quickly apply user settings across multiple bands (though turning Link off makes it simple to set each band as needed).
Though those controls break away from traditional dynamics-processing layouts, they simplify the workflow for dialing in subtle (or not-so-subtle) dynamics. Dedicated distortion controls such as Saturate, Soft Drive and Hard Drive (with associated Soft Blend and Hard Blend controls for clipping distortion), Zero Pop (for zero-crossing distortion), and output level are also included in each section, which can also be bypassed or soloed.
Saying that, the clean interface of Polydactyl provides a huge range of visual feedback. First and foremost, the frequency spectrum meter displays the output level across the audio spectrum and is interactive — click and drag the lines to adjust the band splits; select bands for further adjustment. Additionally, Polydactyl includes a scalable envelope display to show processing over time and global In and Out VU meters. Moreover, each stage also includes a static curve meter to demonstrate the compression and expansion applied to the signal, and In and Out VU meters.
Librae is a mid/side and stereo dynamics processor with separate controls for Pre, Mid, Side, and Post stages. Duly designed for transparency, Librae is made for master-bus applications, but the team behind the plug-in put a lot of thought into making it a capable tool for creative processing and sound design. Many of its controls are similar to those on Polydactyl. Put it this way: Librae also has separate per-stage controls for Blend, Gain, Saturate, Room, Floor, Release, and Stereo Link, plus distortion controls like Saturate, Soft Drive and Hard Drive (with dedicated Soft Blend and Hard Blend), Zero Pop, and output-level controls. Its Pre and Post stages also feature shelf-EQ weight controls to adjust how the plug-in’s dynamics processing responds to the incoming signal. Librae features a Global Mid < - > Side balance control for easy adjustment. Similarly, each section can also be bypassed or soloed.
It is easy to understand Librae, though, thanks to a detailed graphical interface featuring a goniometer displaying the correlation between the input channels and an envelope display showing processing over time. Each processing stage features a dedicated graphical display with a static curve meter to show the curve applied to the signal, In and Out VU meters, and a weighting graph to visualize the detector shelf EQ weighting (with adjustable Weight High and Weight Low) on the stage input.
In keeping with all Noise Engineering plug-ins, Polydactyl and Librae are designed for automation and each include an extensive internal modulation matrix with LFOs and step sequencers that can be routed to almost any parameter. Moreover, modulators have adjustable randomization for easy humanization.
Intuitive in use from first being opened, Polydactyl and Librae both come complete with a sizeable number of Noise Engineering-provided presets — ranging from subtle and transparent to aggressive and in-your-face — to kickstart anyone in need of inspiration. If more than that is needed then the rand (random) and nudge buttons (to generate and tweak patches in one click) are sure to get creative juices flowing.

The beta is over! Noise Engineering moves to full release of three free powerful plugins
Los Angeles, CA — Noise Engineering is happy to announce the end of the public beta and move to full release of three free plugins: synths Sinc Vereor and Virt Vereor and distortion Ruina.
Asked why the move from Eurorack to software, the Noise Engineering team said that it was inspired by several things: first, they’d been bombarded with requests for plugins from modular synth users who love the sound but needed portability or repeatability. They were also extremely aware of the barrier to entry to a modular system and really wanted to make their products more widely accessible (which is partly why this release is free, and will remain free). Finally, they have no plans to stop making modules, but a core value for this small team of six self-described nerds is to keep challenging themselves to learn new things, and making plugins fit the bill. They anticipate further plugin releases based on Eurorack favorites (including a VST3/AU release of their currently AAX-only bundle) coming soon.
Sinc Vereor is an intuitive and powerful synthesizer loosely based on Noise Engineering’s beloved Eurorack module Sinc Iter. Sinc Vereor’s wavemorphing/wavefolding Tone control makes sound design a breeze. Blend between familiar waveforms like saw, triangle, and square. Super mode adds 6 phase-offset oscillators. Use Noise mode to generate self-similar noise for percussion, effects, and more.
Virt Vereor is a powerful synthesizer based on a unique set of synthesis algorithms. Bass is a quadrature algorithm described in Bernie Hutchins’ seminal series Electronotes. Sawx is a supersaw-inspired beast. Harm is an additive algorithm with spectral control and distortion of partials. Virt Vereor makes a tremendous amount of unique sounds with an immediate and usable interface.
Some readers will recognize the names of these algorithms, and indeed they come from Noise Engineering’s contribution to Arturia’s Microfreak V3 firmware and the upcoming Virt Iter module.
Both the Sinc and Virt oscillators are paired with Vereor, Noise Engineering’s easily manipulated dynamics section using an ADSR envelope controlling a variable slope and analog-inspired multimode gate/filter. Add to that a vintage-inspired chorus and a over 1000 presets each, and these synths have something for everyone: bridge the gap between traditional subtractive sounds and modern synthesis techniques, or design innovative basses, leads, or whatever your project calls for.
Ruina is a creative stereo distortion plugin built on digital distortion algorithms: no emulations here. Intuitive and fully automatable controls make it easy to get a gentle, nuanced color, to obliviate a signal, or to dial in anything in between. Don’t feel like tweaking the parameters? Ruina comes with over 500 presets to fit any need, a Random button to generate new sounds, and a Nudge option to just give the parameters the tiniest bump.
Ruina has a wavefolder, a multiband saturator, a chaotic suboctave generator, octavizer, and phase shifter. It also features a notch or bandpass filter with adjustable tracking, and a control to set the order of the distortions in the signal flow to further customize your sound. Last but not least, Overdrive adds up to 128x gain for maximal destruction.
Run any sound through Ruina for warm, lush distortion, or crank the sliders to unleash complete ruin. With seven distortion types, it’s easy to turn your sounds into something singular with Ruina.
All three plugins are free to download: just make an account at the Noise Engineering Customer Portal (https://portal.noiseengineering.us/) and download the installer from the Plugins tab. And while they will remain free, the NE team has big plans to keep developing these. They have a substantial roadmap for future features, some of which were suggestions from the beta users, including introducing extensive internal modulation, more advanced randomization, MIDI learn, MPE support, and more.

Tymp Legio
Tymp Legio is inspired by the Noise Engineering team's love of all types of bang/ crash/ kick/ boom sounds. This is not your normal drum-kit module with samples or simple emulations, though. Instead, they took the challenge of a small percussion module as an opportunity to fit the drums they wanted quick access to in 6hp. “We really wanted the module to showcase our sense of playfulness. Sinc Pravus is a workhorse of a quad offset in 4hp. Sometimes you have the perfect CV signal, but it’s just not in the right range. Enter Sinc Pravus. Each of Sinc Pravus’s four channels are controlled by a dedicated potentiometer with an LED for monitoring signal outputs. The input jacks are normaled from top to bottom so it can offset the same signal by different amounts or simply act as a mult.
Use the back-panel switch to configure Sinc Pravus’s offset range to either ±5 or ±10 volts. With nothing patched to the inputs, the channels can be used as DC-voltage generators, especially useful for controlling multiple CV destinations with a single parameter.

Noise Engineering's Desmodus Versio Goes Chameleon with Custom Firmware Support
You might remember when Noise Engineering's Desmodus Versio reverb module was announced back in August, there was this little included note: "Desmodus Versio isn’t just a reverb, though: it’s a DSP platform. Its firmware can be changed via USB, so it can be transformed into a completely different effect with new firmwares coming late 2020. Are you programming savvy? Open-source support will be released later this year."
Well, it looks like that time has arrived.

"In August 2020, we released the Desmodus Versio, Noise Engineering’s reverb. Maybe you heard about it. We were pretty excited about a lot of things about it:
It’s a pretty kick-ass reverb.
It’s a DSP platform that users can update via USB, so we could create lots of alt firmwares for people (more on that soon. Very soon.).
It’s based on an open platform, so from the beginning, we knew we wanted to open it up so people could create their own firmwares too.
So we asked the software engineers at NE to help us less programming savvy folks talk about how this works.
First thing to note: writing custom firmware requires basic understanding of the C / C++ programming language. If you are not proficient in C / C++, there are plenty of resources or even other modular platforms to get started on!
Ok, onward.
UNDER THE HOOD - DAISY!
If you look at the back of your Versio module, you should see a mounted yellow board with a micro-USB port. This is the Daisy Seed, an embedded audio platform created by Electrosmith. It is the main processing unit on the Versio hardware, i.e., where programs are downloaded, or 'flashed.'
We opted for the Daisy platform for a lot of reasons, but the biggest was that it would be the best customer experience. At the time that the Daisy Seed became a contender for us, we had been developing, in parallel, a similar board (called George). Moving to the Daisy Seed board allowed us to speed development, decrease cost for our users, and take advantage of the large (and growing) community behind the Daisy ecosystem
Daisy is powerful and handles stereo in/stereo out with ease with up to 24-bit, 192 kHz audio processing, 64 MB SDRAM, and 8 MB of flash memory. Got an idea that you want in Eurorack? If any embedded processor can handle it, it’s probably this one."

I am always curious when Noise Engineering comes with something new and they never disappoint. I love reverbs. I am lucky to have the Erbe-Verb, Milky Way, Z-DSP, Clouds and ZVERB but I was pretty confident the Desmodus (Vampire Bat) Versio (Versatile) would add something new to my collection. And it did. This is just a first-patch so there will be a part 2 soon. Trust me, this video is only scratching the surface.2. The Bat Verb | Part 02 | Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio
Note: I wrote that the DV doesn't have a High Pass filter but that's not true. It has a filter that is neutral at 12:00 and becomes high pass CW and low pass CCW. What I mean it doesn't have a filter that makes sure the very low frequencies (below 80Hz) aren't 'reverberated' (high pass) which can go totally out of control and drives the module above the digital 0dB brick wall. Digital distortion is not pretty and you should be aware of it before going live. I also need to add that it happened only once during the making of this video. Just remember that infinite reverb and ultra low frequencies can cause serious trouble that goes way beyond 'mud'.
Desmodus Versio is a reverb - with a built in delay and distortion - and lots of other cool ways to turn your room upside down and fold a cathedral. DV's first batch had a little bug (I totally missed it), but NE's been working around the clock to create a fix and roll out the 'flash your DV' website. This also shows us how easy it is to install new firmware or future applications (which are coming soon). I am not sure, but I think the code will be open source so we can write our own reverbs and FX. I'll definitely dive into that when more info is available.3. The Bat Verb | Part 03 | Desmodus Versio + Lyra-8
I had this idea of running the Lyra-8 through the Desmodus Versio and see what would happen. Then I realized it helped me (a lot!) to tune the Lyra-8 while playing live. So this video showcases the 'beyond infinity' setting on the 'regenerate' knob, where the reverb trail just plays on forever - but you can still hear a bed of the notes you've played - and add more. It can get pretty magical.4. The Bat Verb | Part 04 | Ampla Versio firmware | Desmodus Versio
Noise Engineering promised to bring new firmware / applications to the Desmodus Versio reverb. Because it's not a reverb, it's a platform. This means you can completely change the application inside the module. Today NE released Ampla Versio, an 'all in one' VCA, VCFA, ADSR with chorus. In stereo. And this one is a worthy addition to the 'never too many' VCA's.5. The Bat Verb | Part 05 | Imitor Versio firmware
"Noise Engineering has just released a new firmware for the Desmodus Versio, the 'versatile imitator'. It's a twelve tap delay with tempo sync, delay timing skew, circular stereo panning, distortion, tralis that rise and fall, shimmer and harmonically related pitch shifting. POB has done an excellent walkthrough on all features (see link in video), so I'll just focus on how it sounds in various patches. the IV is also available as a dedicated module with its own faceplate, and faceplates can be ordered for your DV if you're planning on permanent use.
Please note the IV is a delay that's designed to be discovered so make sure to spend some time with it. I noticed it features a lot of sonic textures which are also found on some of the best delays around. So this one may be the droid you've been looking for in just 10 HP. Highly recommended!"

3 Noise Engineering oscillator modes

Noise Engineering Introduces Lacrima Versio

Los Angeles, CA — Lacrima Versio is Noise Engineering’s take on the classic autowah, in stereo, and with a twist.
Lacrima’s roots are in analog Autowah pedals. As a fan of the wah-pedal sound, Noise Engineering’s Doer of Many Things Kris Kaiser wanted to do a NE version of a wah as part of the Ruina line of analog distortions. The team was the better part of the way through a schematic when they realized that this would fit well on the Versio platform, and changed course.
Lacrima Versio features an envelope follower that controls a high-resonance filter. Morph the filter between lowpass, bandpass, and highpass slopes, and Lacrima covers all the sounds you’d expect from a typical wah – but this is not your typical wah. Route an adjustable distortion pre, post, or pre+post
filter for some saturation crunch. Add width and motion (and just a little otherworldly tone) to your sounds with a stereo chorus. Last but not least, use the Mod parameter to add audio-rate modulation and octavizing to your signal.
Lacrima Versio is way more fully featured than the module it started as, and even better, it’s available as a free download to anyone with any Versio module at the Noise Engineering Customer Portal (https://portal.noiseengineering.us/). Beautiful panel overlays will be available soon through Noise Engineering’s collaboration with Winterbloom.
