New EMS SYNTHI Style Portabella Synth Coming from Pin Electronics

Portabella sound preview - Sync for 4 pins

Published on Feb 27, 2017 Pin Electronics & Ramcur

"The Portabella by Pin Electronics available 3rd quarter 2017.

http.//www.wp.thesynthi.de"

Update: video is back. This originally went up at 6:55 PM today. Moving this up so you don't miss it.

Curious how this one will differ from their Hornets pictured below. Aside from the obvious color scheme, you can see the panel layout is different. I added a screenshot of the video above directly below for comparison. Note the "Random Voltage Generator" section above Oscillator 1 in the Portabella. You can click the image of the Hornets below for a larger version. It's set to open in a new tab so you can tab back and forth to compare. You can find previous posts on the Hornet via the Pin Electronics label below.

Unfolding Forms by Anthony Child Featuring the Pin Electronics Portabella.

"I wanted to make some of my new personal music projects available to you in a more direct and immediate way.

Recorded using a Pin Electronics Portabella."

via Resident Advisor

"Unfolding Forms is an eight-track, digital only album on Child's Dynamic Tension label, released without advance notice. A tweet from Child announcing the album said, 'I wanted to make some of my new personal music projects available to you in a more direct and immediate way,' and called this LP the "first release," implying that more are to come. The album was recorded on a Pin Electronics Portabella modular synthesizer. It's Child's second full-length of the year, following Luminosity Device this past spring."

SynQuaNon Guitar Interface Eurorack Modules & More - SuperBooth 2022 Demo

video upload by SynQuaNon

"Here's a 2-minute collection of short demos using the SynQuaNon Eurorack analog polyphonic effects modules:

0:00 Hexaphonic AutoWah Filter with pedal control
0:29 Hexaphonic Funky AutoWah Filter with Hexaphonic Fuzz
1:01 Hexaphonic VCA Sequencer-controlled Arpeggios
1:34 Hexaphonic VCF Sequencer-controlled Arpeggios with Hexaphonic Fuzz
1:46 Hexaphonic VCF and VCA controlled in tandem by Sequencer

Did you notice that the SynQuaNon modules have virtually no patch cables connected and yet are in the audio chain? That's because they are interconnected at the back of the modules using SynQuaNon hexaphonic Audio and CV bus cables! This allows for a clutter-free front panel for easy user access and control adjustment - for more information, see the SynQuaNon Blog:

https://www.synquanon.com/post/why-ha..."

A list of their current modules via https://www.synquanon.com:

13-Pin Input Breakout

Roland/BOSS GK guitar interface for hexaphonic or polyphonic processing

Overview:
The 13-Pin Input Breakout module receives signals from a Roland GK-3 compatible guitar and converts them to modular levels using low-noise audio op-amps.

Gain options include 10x (20dB), 30x (30dB), or 100x (40dB).

Gain controls allow you to adjust the gain from zero to full-scale in the amplified string outputs.

Amplifier boards are easily replaceable with different gain versions. Check the shop for replacement boards.

The module provides power to the electronics in your GK-3 compatible guitar.

Hand-assembled in the USA.
Important Note:
This module has been tested successfully with Roland GK-3, GK-2A, Graph Tech Hexpander, and RMC Poly-Drive pickup systems.

Roland GK-2A pickups (including those on the Fender GC-1) require a special version of this module. Please indicate if you intend to use a Roland-ready or GC-1 Stratocaster with this module at the time of your order and we will supply the special version.

Features:
Outputs for each signal in the 13-pin GK-3 interface (audio/CV).
Access to direct signals from each string and the passive pickup.
Selectable gain range (1x or 10x, 30x, 100x) for each string and the passive pickup output on back of the module.
Adjustable gain or attenuation to zero within each selected gain range.
Metal film resistors for close channel gain matching.
Pairs well with 13-Pin Output Breakout , Hex VU Meter, Hex Fuzz, Hex VCF, Hex VCA, and Hex EF-Gate-Trigger.
Ideal for guitar multi-channel, single-string, or hexaphonic effects processing.

"Amazing Synthi replica made by Pin Electronics & Ramcur, this is from one of the first series and it's totally handbuilt in Canada with the right specifics and components, many people say that it's a way better than the actual Portabella.

The unit is built inside an Explorer case so it's very easy to travel with."

Parker NiteFly SA Guitar with Factory Roland Ready GK-2A and Roland GR-300 Guitar Synthesizer

Published on Jan 31, 2020 WayneJoness

"In August of 2006 I found this really, really rare Parker NiteFly SA guitar on ebay. This was a stunning NiteFly SA with a factory installed Roland GK-2A kit. I have never seen one of these before or since. As the Roland kit was factory installed, all the controls, knobs, etc. fit seamless with the standard controls. This NiteFly SA was a true jack-of-all-trades guitar. In addition to the sweet custom DiMarzio pickups, the guitar also had a Fishman pickup installed for acoustic tones. And topping everything off was the Roland 13 pin GK output as well.

In my MIDI speed tests, this guitar has proven to be a real tracking champion as well. Response time was a blazing 15.96 milliseconds using the Roland GI-20 Pitch-to-MIDI converter. This is a tracking speed that is on par with the latest technology available.

In the video, you can see the guitar demonstrated with the Roland GR-300. At the time I was making the RC-1324-PDL, a pedal that accepted a modern 13-pin input and supplied a vintage 24-pin output. The pedal included trimmers for each string, plus two filter preset settings, modulation control and resonance, as well as output presets. The pedal needed to replicate the controls found on a vintage guitar synth controller which are not a part of the GK-2/GK-3 design. You can hear the guitar controlling a Roland GR-100, GR-300 and GR-700.

As much as I loved the sound and flexibility of this guitar, I was never able to adjust to the thin, carbon fibre neck. Do not get me wrong, the neck is awesome, with its stainless steel frets and dead-on intonation. But I found the neck a little fatiguing, as I really prefer a fatter neck. And so, like many guitars, it eventually left and found another owner courtesy of ebay."

Parker NiteFly SA with Factory Internal Roland GK-2A and Roland GR-700 Analog Guitar Synthesizer

Published on Jan 31, 2020 WayneJoness

"This video demonstrates using a Parker NiteFly SA with a factory Roland GK-2A internal pickup. This is a rare guitar, with the Roland electronics installed at the factory. This is the same pickup as found in the original Fender Roland Ready guitars. A RC-1324 converter is used to boost the signals from the Roland 13-pin output to be compatible with the 24-pin system. This enables the Parker NiteFly SA to play a vintage Roland GR-700 Analog guitar synthesiter."
