Wave, microWave II, Q Yellow, Q Classic Blue, black microWave XT.

The Classic Blue Q ended up more of a greyish slate blue, and the black XT became known as the shadow XT. I forget if it was officially called the Shadow XT or that just became how it was refered to. The Classic Blue Q oddly became known as the Halloween Q because of the yellowish orange on dark grey.

I had to do a double take when I first saw this one. Clearly not a Shadow XT. Turns out it's an orange XT painted black. You can see the orange underneath in the bottom pic. Cool, thing though is the black is an overlay so you can pick orange vs. black. BTW, see my cure for the Waldorf Nextel sticky coating here. Curious if that's why this one has a cover...

"Okay, up for sale is a an extremely rare "shadow" Waldorf XTK synthesizer. Not wanting a bright orange synth for their MTV music awards appearance, NIN contacted Waldorf and had 2 black XTKs made for them...this is one of those. Obviously, i doubt you'll ever see another one for sale so here is your chance. This XTK works perfectly, and looks fantastic. There is a small ding in the wood (from NIN) and can be seen in the picture (left side). If you're a NIN fan this is an ultimate item...as it was played by them. Or if you just want one of the best synths in the planet but hate orange, here you go!"

"This is a 10-voice Rev 3 Microwave XT Shadow, one of only 666 ever made. I bought it earlier this year and used it to build Edisyn's Microwave 2/XT/XTk patch editor. It is a wonderful machine and I love it, but when I bought it I promised myself I would sell it at year's end, and so I am."

"Beautiful Black Waldorf Microwave XT Shadow, Limited Edition! This is the originel Shadow Edition, not an imitation as you see sometimes when somebody made a regular orange one black to look like a Shadow. The unit is in very good condition. a few pots and the surface can use some cleaning, everything fully working though! Used this till today. I will not put it back in the rack during the time its offered so the unit gets no eventual new rack rash (I noticed some people screw their gear back in the rack and then create rack rash that was not visuable on the pictures, so I NEVER do that)"

"The Waldorf XT features a comprehensive set of two oscillators that are based on wavetables. Each wavetable features a multitude of different sounds thus allowing for a timbral variety unlike standard analogue synth or romplers. The user can sweep through these wavetables to create moving timrbal animation that yields results unlike any other synth. There is also a noise generator and ring modulator on board as well as a throughly comprehensive filter section which features the following filter types: 6/12/24 db Low pass & High Pass, Frequency Modulation Filter, Sin (x)-Low Pass, Dbl LP/HP, 24/12 db Band Pass, Band Stop, and a Waveshaper algorithm.

If modulation is what you are after, then look no further as the XT is packed with a fully fledged modulation matrix that allows even the modulation of modulation sources! There are several LFO's with full comprehensive shapes including noise and sample and hold as well as a function and modification generator similar to the Kurzweil K2000 series of synthesizers. Also on offer is a set of envelopes that can be routed to various modulation inputs as well as the usual envelopes for the amplifier and filter.

If that's not enough, there is a comprehensive and programmable arpeggiator with 16 steps and 128 patterns as well as a comprehensive FX section which can happily replaces some of your outboard processors as it sounds very good. However, unlike offerings from Access and other synth manufacturers, the Waldorf needs no FX to sound full, lush, and recordable."

"For sale is a rare 'Shadow Edition' Microwave XT digital wavetable synthesizer, of which only 666 were produced. Unit does have the latest #3 board and updates, and currently has 10 voices polyphony (expandable to 30 with an after market expansion board). Unit is in great condition and functions flawlessly. Some very slight wear on the rack holes, and a few discolored patches on the very bottom of the unit (never visible when racked or placed on desktop, see pics). The screen is very bright green, with a nice blue surround. The condition is Totally Mint, as you can see from the photos. It is the 10 Voice model, with version 2.28 software.
