Threetom Doppio is now officially available! 🥳

video upload by Threetom Modular

Threetom Modular DOPPIO / clean amp, dirty drive and useful limiter / brief demo / first patches

video upload by BRiES

"DOPPIO by Threetom Modular is a stereo (or two channel) saturator/soft clipper that was designed to bring all the dirt where you want it but remain clean where you need it. You can use it to add huge amounts of noisefree gain to weak signals or to make a clean sound more saturated by using a selectable soft clipping circuit. The most useful feature and the one I will probably use most of the time is the soft clipping 'limit' setting, which gives the user the ability to set a safe master volume and bring in some saturation.

This video is not an extensive playthrough but rather a quick rundown of the features of this brand new Threetom Modular creation. There's a few patch examples in this video but I'm sure I'll make more uploads using DOPPIO when I run into things that benefit from a fresh caffeine shot. I'm confident this will be a great boost to my drumsection (pun intented)."

SCHLAPPI ENGINEERING Introduces Nibbler Four Bit Digital Accumulator Module

Overviewvideo upload by SCHLAPPI ENGINEERING

"The Nibbler is a module about exploring the musicality of counting in binary."

Meet the Nibbler by Schlappi Engineering

video upload by Stazma

An introduction to the Nibbler by Schlappi Engineering

video upload by Stazma

via SCHLAPPI ENGINEERING

"**This is technically a preorder but modules should ship by the end of the year, we should also have pictures of the silver version by Dec 18th**

The Nibbler is a four bit digital accumulator based on CMOS logic. This means that it counts in binary from zero to fifteen, with inputs and outputs for individual bits as well as stepped voltage outputs (digital to analog converters). It does this with individual logic chips instead of a CPU.

The concept here is that counting in binary (and its expression in bits) is inherently musical, and with slow clock speeds we can use it to create both rhythms and modulation voltages (or melodies). At audio rate we can generate subharmonics and modem-like sounds (or noise).

Features

5 rhythmically related gate outputs (or audio rate square waves)
2 stepped voltage outputs
Second stepped voltage has selectable phase offset
Cherry MX Brown switch for reset
4 gate inputs for modulation
Chainable using carry in and out
Reset input can be used as hard sync at audio rate
Subtract input can add variation to sequences
Synchronous and asynchronous output modes
Shift register functionality
CMOS logic deisgn
12 HP
Skiff friendly 28mm depth (35mm including cables)
POWER DRAW: +12V 37mA, -12V 17mA"

Real World Interface by Verbos Electronics - Overview & Demo

video upload by Stazma

"Today I'll be showing you the new Real World Interface by Verbos Electronics.
This is sort of the first contact with the module, trying all the things I thought i could do and listening to different stuff processed throught it.
It's a very interesting and deep module, and there's so many ways to use it that I'll do a second video with a few more patch ideas soon.

Have fun!"

00:00 Intro
01:11 Fast forward unboxing & first patches
02:41 Module Overview
04:23 Patching a compressor
06:04 Pre-amp & saturation test
08:22 Drum machine driven patches
14:17 A.G.C, Fundamental & Locked VCO outputs
17:54 Stereo pre-amplification & enveloppe follower
22:38 End talk

The Real World Interface is a 3 channel external processing module intended for connecting with sound sources outside the system. The channels are oriented as vertical channel strips. The left and right channels have a built-in condenser microphone, preamp, envelope follower with variable decay and gate extractor. In addition to a preamp, envelope follower and gate extractor, the center channel also has an Automatic Gain Control (fixed high ratio compressor), fundamental extractor (tracking lowpass filter), frequency detector and locked oscillator. Internal microphones are useful for introducing electro acoustic room sound into the modular. Envelope followers can be used to have external signal levels effect parameters such as filter cutoff or level for building dynamics processors. Gate extraction allows external sounds such as metronomes, clicks, claps or room sounds to advance sequencers, trigger sounds or initiate other events. The Frequency Detector can extract the pitch of simple monophonic sounds but is also a semi chaotic CV source in the tradition of such modules since their introduction in the 1960’s. The Locked Oscillator plays a sine wave at the same pitch as the input signal.

Altar 2 by Ritual Electronics - Demo and Overview

video upload by Stazma

"Today I'll be showing you the Altar 2, a very good sounding and looking analog 18dB/octave state variable discrete filter, made by Ritual Electronics in Marseille, France.

Because of it's look and the fact there's no filter in the Buchla & Tiptop Audio line Ive decided to use it in my 'Buchla Suitcase' for a recent two weeks modular class and everyone liked it there.

Have fun!

07:29 Talking Filter Patch
09:51 Ping It!

22:29 End talk"

The Ritual Electronics Altar is a 3-pole 18db/oct state-variable filter with the ability to smoothly crossfade between filter types. The module's resonance has an attenuverter in it's CV input which allows for quick bumps in the resonance that can act as "accents" to liven up your patterns. Additionally the module's input gain can drive the filter core into distortion, and the ability to run two inputs into the filter allows you to push it even harder. This combined with the module's crossfading filter design give Altar multiple options for ever changing, yet still very rich timbres.

ALTAR II FEATURES

3-pole, 18dB/oct state-variable filter for Eurorack modular synthesizers
Redesigned discrete transistor core
Filter type can smoothly fade between Bandpass, Lowpass, and Highpass modes
Input gain stage drives into distortion
CV for filter type blend (Color), filter cutoff frequency, and resonance—each with dedicated attenuverters

Vector Mixing with Planar 2 by Intellijel

video upload by Stazma

"Hey there folks! Here's another of those short patch video I like to do at the moment! This on is about another of my favorite patches (often those I show to my students when I teach modular synthesis).

This one is about using the Planar 2 to mix waveforms from your VCOs, even some already modified by other modules such as filters or wavefolder, in order to create sort of 'morphing', wavetable like, sounds, while remaining in the analog realm.

Have fun watching!"

Non-Linear Memory Machine by Holocene Electronics

video upload by Stazma

"Today I'll be showing you the Non-Linear Memory Machine (NLMM for short), a stereo digital delay with pitch, freeze and granular functions. I had a great fun trying out this module, many thanks to @holocene_electronics for sending this to me to make this demo."

via Holocene Electronics

"The Non-Linear Memory Machine is an audio buffer device. Set to a short buffer length, the NLMM is capable of creating alien phaser sounds to reverb and delays. While in a longer buffer length Frippertronics / time lag accumulator style looping is available.

FUNCTIONS / CONTROLS

TIME/SCRUB

Controls the delay time of the signal. The delay time can span from a few milliseconds to up to 15 seconds, depending on the buffer length. Unlike analog delays like tape or BBD delays, when modulated the pitch of the signal does not drift. Instead, it compresses and expands time in interesting textures via a custom time-stretching algorithm. When activating Freeze via the freeze switch, this knob functions as the play head's position within the buffer.

SMEAR

Randomizes the Time/Scrub control, adding random jitters to the position of the playhead and diffuses the signal in a way that can be utilized as a pseudo reverb effect. (experiment with the Time/Scrub knob and Feedback knob to create glitchy reverbs.)

PITCH

Pitch shifts the signal +- 1 octave. This knob snaps to perfect 5ths and an octave but you can dial it in between intervals. Nice crunchy aliasing when pitch shifting is applied.

DRY/WET

Crossfades between the dry signal and processed wet signal.

FEEDBACK

Feedbacks the delayed signal back into the input. Set it up to 4’o’clock when in Medium or Long mode to experiment with TLA or Frippertronic style looping.

BUFFER RANGE

Switch between delay ranges according to the list below.

\SHORT – 20ms ~ 320ms

\\MEDIUM – 320ms ~ 1.6sec

\\\LONG – 1.45sec ~ 15sec

FREEZE

The Freeze switch acts like an infinite sustain pedal, but you can also scrub through the buffer with the time/scrub knob when activated. Red means recording, and unlit means the buffer is frozen / not recording. Great for practicing scales or droning away."

Tiptop Audio & Buchla - Fake Delay & Bouncing Ball

video upload by Stazma

"Hello there!
Today I'll share with you a classic modular synth patch that I really enjoy using, it's also a great exercise to get a feel for how VCA's and envelopes can work together. It's actualy just one of the many ways you can patch this, wich will use any sound source (258t here) with the 281t, 257t and 292t as the main building blocks (you can of course patch this with similar modules). I like it in the Buchla contect as you can play with 292t modes and get different sounds this way.
Anyway, I hope this will be helpful. Have fun."
