"Located in the vibrant Kreuzberg neighborhood, the Synthesizer Museum Berlin is a unique space that pays tribute to the evolution of electronic music.
Opening in February 2025, this museum houses a temporary collection of more than 50 vintage and rare synthesizers, spanning from the 1970s to the early 2000s.
More than a static exhibition, the museum offers an interactive experience where visitors can play and experiment with these legendary instruments. From the pioneering sounds of the "Berlin School" with Tangerine Dream, to David Bowie's Berlin Trilogy, to the vibrant techno scene of the 1990s, Berlin has been an epicenter of sonic innovation.
During the tour, you'll discover everything from early analog synthesizers to modern modular systems; you'll understand how these machines have shaped genres like ambient, industrial, and techno. xx Calder Plays Theremin | Dorit Chrysler
video upload by The Museum of Modern Art
Calder Plays Theremin | Behind the Scenes
video upload by Moog Music Inc
"We invite you to take a behind-the-scenes look at the making of "Calder Plays Theremin," directed by filmmaker Michael Tyburski, featuring an original sound piece by composer and sound artist Dorit Chrysler.
In a new piece filmed at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, Berlin-based thereminist (and our dear friend) Dorit Chrysler brings a collection of electronic instruments together with sculptures on display in the museum’s 'Alexander Calder: Modern from the Start' exhibition for a novel experiment in sound and motion.
'Calder Plays Theremin' pays homage to both inventor Leon Theremin, whose eponymous invention has inspired generations of musicians and musical instrument creators, and sculptor Alexander Calder, who reimagined the art of sculpture as “an experiment in space and motion, upending centuries-old notions that sculpture should be static, grounded, and dense by making artworks that often move freely and interact with their surroundings,” according to MoMA. In this piece, Calder’s sculptures control the sound of each theremin, making for a truly unique and magical composition among these objects, personified as artists for the occasion. 'To hear a theremin trigger the Moog Model 15 synthesizer in the Sculpture Garden—priceless. The sound of a Calder mobile element rubbing against the antenna of a theremin producing microtonal sound in slight movement—breathtaking.' -composer and thereminist Dorit Chrysler
Visit moogmusic.com to read our complete interview with Dorit, where she shares what inspired her to develop the concept for this piece."

"My city: Berlin with Andreas Schneider
Subscribe to the Guardian HERE: http://bitly.com/UvkFpD
Andreas Schneider shows us Kreuzberg, home of the counterculture scene in Berlin, and once home to David Bowie. Starting from his cult synthesizer shop, Andreas takes us on a journey through a district that narrowly escaped the wrecking ball of urban planning and gentrification, taking in the local museum, a neighbourhood diner and the local city farm."

Stacked & Racked Custom Roland System 100 x 4 Plus More
"edit: IM NOT SELLING TO DEALERS. please dont waste my time. thank you!
i thought i will never do this but i need dough for outboard gear. so here it goes: for sale is a vintage stage system built by the cyborgs which were a berlin school outfit in the 70s. it was buillt by lutz who also visited me a few years ago i have pics somewhere. it was amazing to see him work this thing after 40 years of absence.
it consists of:
- 2x roland system 100 model 101 base module
- 2x roland system 100 model 102 expander
- 2x roland system 100 model 104 sequencer
- 1x ppg model 314 clocked sequential control
- 1x ppg model 313 sequential switch
- the orignial cv keyboard built into a wooden case
- documentation as much as i can find.
technically its sound except a few crackling pots and the usual vintage modular mold. i hope lutz the creator will attest to this later in this fred. i will also go through it with a maintainance specialist to fix as much of this as possible.
the sound is way beyond anything that can be done in euroland, especially the filters. ive done many sessions with this system with my partner from rutlinbey and i will include one of them so you have an idea what you can do with this wonderful instrument.
im looking to trade this thing for a as complete as possible system 100 or at least a model 101 plus cash. the ppg sequencer alone is around 2k and the whole system is valued around 5k at the moment. i will only sell it to another musician and professional traders can take a walk right now. also if you just think about taking this thing apart and selling the parts you will die a slow and painful death.
in closing i might add that this is a very emotional decision and i am an emotional guy so things can change rapidly. feel free to make me all kinds of proposals and why you think you should have it.
addendum: there is no hurry with this deal. im going to spain for a month next week and everything happens after that.

cyborgs now, this is lutzs site with lots of music done with this system:
