"This is an overview and demo of a little project I completed recently called 'Jack & Jill'. It's a hardware 2 channel improvisor and MIDI note generator quantized to musical scales.

In the demo portion I just connected Jack & Jill to my computer via a MIDI interface.

In Ableton Live I've added TAL Bassline 101 on ch. 1 and NI's Massive on ch. 2. So Jack is sequencing the bassline and Jill is sequencing Massive."

In this video I jam with a hybrid setup involving a Roland SH-101, a small eurorack system and an Oberkorn MK3 analog sequencer.

Patch breakdown:
The Oberkorn sequences everything. Its 2 gate outputs trigger the BD808 and RS808 drum modules while the clock output gates the SH-101. The first CV channel from the oberkorn is quantized by the uScale 2 which then feeds into the SH-101's CV input. This allows me to have musical notes regardless of how the knobs are set on the sequencer.

Everything is then mixed through a samson mixer (off screen) and fed into an Apogee Duet interface. I then record in Ableton Live and apply a dash of ValhallaDSP reverb (which I also tweak in real time, but you can't see my hand in the video).

A random little minimal jam featuring some weird vocal samples. For some reason the words "where is the lobster?" came to my head when I heard the drum beat. The SH-101 is "synced" to the volca beats.

A little experimental "music" featuring the MS-10 as the sound source running through the moisturizer (filter + reverb). The Oberkorn's 3 CV outputs are fed into the moisturizer to modulate the filter mode, filter cutoff and reverb amount. A touch of reverb was applied in software via ValhallaDSP's ValhallaVintageVerb.

This is a little demo of the Ekdahl Moisturizer which is a spring reverb unit with a built in multimode filter and LFO. The video starts off with a more technical exploration (showing the effect of most knobs individually) and then gets into more experimental territory. The filter on the SH-101 is wide open so all the filtering you hear is from the moisturizer.
