Shruthi-1 in the studio

Shruthi-1 in the studio from mutable instruments on Vimeo.

http://mutable-instruments.net/shruthi1/

A video featuring the Shruthi-1 in composer/pianist Frank Herrgott's home studio. Frank composed the track and we had a blast "shruthifying it" by recording all elements with (or through) the Shruthi-1. The main protagonists are 3 SMR4 Shruthi-1s and EHX boxes, with help from:

* A CEM3379 Shruthi-1 (kick)
* A Fender Rhodes processed through a Shruthi-1 filter + tremolo combo
* A Solina clone from Hohner through a Shruthi-1 auto sweep
* Two tracks of guitar... sent through a Shruthi-1 wah + tremolo program

Vocals are the only elements not going through the Shruthi-1 - they have been processed by a software vocoder / voice transformer.

Alesis Andromeda doing a Minimoog impression

Alesis Andromeda doing a Minimoog impression by CoolColJ
"This reminds me of a MiniMoog

I find that the feedback used in place of the actual filter resonance to be better than 24db filter resonance when used in series.
Used the 12db filter inline with the 24db to overdrive it, with and without feedback. Keep the ENV3 (Amp/VCA) level low under 80, I used 56 here, and the level knob on the far right under 80 as well. Gets rid of that harsh sound, especially as resonance is cranked up.

A6 doesn't have much head room compared to the discrete designs it was based on - even then when low levels are used, the noise isn't a problem, no worst than a JP8 for example, your just clipping it less :)"

Dovinia "Sylvania" Modular Synthesizer Improvisations

"Sometimes I wanna do bad things to small lap top speakers. Todays piece is an exploration of random note sequencing courtesy of the Doepfer A-149-1 "Source of Uncertainty" clone module. Running this into the A-106-5 SEM filter creates some interesting rhythmic effects. I drove the tape into saturation on purpose. Noodles!"

Buchla Phased and Balanced

YouTube Published on Jul 31, 2012 by djangosfire

"Buchla 100 Series: Model 196 Phase Shifter + Model 194 Bandpass Filter + Quad Lopass Gates + Jason R. Butcher VCBM Balanced Modulator + Modcan 59a Delay (DIY Buchla format delay) + 258v Dual Oscillator...... and a few other modules. All come together for "Buchla Phased and Balanced".

The 196 on it's own is almost not even noticeable. It takes some creative mixing/patching to pull out that deep phase shifter effect - via feedback loops and LPG's opening and closing the animated sound."
