"This this a track from my new album Tune Up which is available as a free download on my bandcamp & soundcloud page. Links below.

I was first exposed to post-punk new wave at an early age and this track reminds me of that time and place and how fast time has gone by.

Instruments played are Roland Jupiter 6 & SCI pro-one synths, Eurorack modular, mpc2500 drums, electric guitar through line6 pod. Recorded & mixed with Ableton live. Hope you like it."

Odroid--U3 Meets YouRockGuitar 2

Published on May 25, 2015 elohess2

The Odroid-U3 is a Linux based mini computer. The YouRockGuitar 2 is connected via USB MIDI.

This one in via elohess2. I asked him what software he used for the synth sounds and he had the following to say: "'Yoshemi', which is a fork of ZynAddSubFX. I used Yoshemi cause I was frustrated of my spelling mistakes of 'ZynAddSubFX' :-) (Joke). Was only a test to find out which version works better with JackD. Result: both...."

And the video description:

"Session to show that it works very well to use the Odroid-U3 als a software synthesizer audio machine und using the 'toy' YouRockGuitar2 als Midi Controller.

A lot of things to tell about this combination and the Linux Glue, which glues all the parts together.

At the end of the video 25:00 there is a recorded "live" session. Sorry bad audio quality. It was a reharsal session recorded with the build in microphone of my mobile phone. No additional infos here. Only Peter jamming noise...."

And via Hathor Menat: "Also I created a french modular forum 5 years ago which is called: synthe-modulaire.com. Each year we make a modular music compilation based upon a theme which comes from a consensus of all the interested participants. Last year opus was promoted through VSE but i thought you might be interested in relaying it through your blog as well.

Volca Beats: Snare Fix mod + MIDI Out mod by Shivatek

more pics

Gracias Ivan Herman, Saludos!"

Googlish:

"In this album the changes you made to a Korg Volca Beats, first the Snare Fix comprising adding the famous "Missing C78 capacitor" which takes away that awful sound distortion that brings factory was made and what are replaced by a sweet and warm analog snare accordingly :) and secondly the plastic cabinet was drilled and added a female to use the MIDI Out connector. That way you can manage other drum machines (Obviously MIDI channel 10). Thanks Ivan Herman, Greetings!"

KORG MONOTRON PLAYED BY MIDI KEYBOARD AND CONTROLLER CC

Published on May 29, 2015 BOB ''T'' --------------

"Here's a old video i decided to upload at the demand of one subscriber. It's my mod Korg Monotron played from a midi keyboard (Yamaha SY 77) and a midi controller CC (Xstation). Using Reaper and Expert Sleepers Silent way. The problem with the basic mod is that the voltage going to vcf affect the pitch so it's difficult to obtain a normal monosynth from that project. Now that Korg got the Volca serie on the market i don't need it anymore. I burned my Volca Bass trying to save on a power adapter. But i'll buy another one soon because i loved it. I should have done it without fx but it's too late (it's a Lexicon Reverb hardware). Thank for watching."

Prophet 5 Rev 1 Demo Video

Published on May 29, 2015

Little bit os synth trivia: that first patch from The Cars "Let's Go" was created by none other than John Bowen of John Bowen Synth design.

"This is the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev 1, Serial #122. It belonged to Greg Hawkes of The Cars, and was famously used on the Cars song "Let's Go!" as well as numerous other Cars songs and albums.

This synthesizer's electronics were expertly restored by Greg Montalbano of http://analogsynthservice.com. He is one of the few techs in the world with the knowledge to repair a Rev 1 Prophet 5. This particular Prophet had serious issues with its power supply, including numerous blown capacitors. Greg M. rebuilt the power supply, repaired a bad IC, and thoroughly calibrated and tuned the instrument. I oiled the wood, cleaned the keyboard, repaired a faulty keyboard contact, and carefully repaired a crack in the wood. Given her age, and the fact that she played countless stage shows and studio sessions, she's in wonderful shape and sounds fantastic."
