Buchla 100 wave generator 195 filter

Published on Dec 5, 2015 DJjondent

"This is quick demo of the Buchla 100 for a future remix.
This take is all live, unedited with lots of mistakes - I'm experimenting mainly with the 195 filter. I started with the intention of only using one VCO (a 144) and the 195 , ten channel (Octave Format) comb filter to see how many sounds I could get from a minimal setup.

Over the course of the night I decided to add 3 more VCOs - two 158s & a second 144.

Buchla Easel and a 4U expander

Published on Dec 5, 2015 Nicolas Lévy

"Added a few modules to the Easel.
247v by Verbos
259r built by Roman
And a Modcan 59a delay DIYed in Buchla format.

In this patch the most noticeable effect is achieved by having the pressure controlling the delay feedback.
The 259r is modulated by the 2nd cv out of the 247v, the easel mod osc and the easel envelope.
The 247v is sending pulses at each step to clock the 59a. When it skips a step it gives the nice "rolling" effect in the sequence.
The sequence is the Easel complex osc, no envelope, just the 247v steps out sending pulses to open the Easel VCA/LPG."

intellijel Introduces Three New Modules for Fall 2015 – µMIDI, Dixie II+, Polaris

via intellijel

"Today we are pleased to announce three new modules for Fall 2015:

µMIDI – An easy to use USB and DIN MIDI interface with clock sync and voice control outputs. Built with an ARM core for tight timing and easy firmware updates.
Dixie II+ – An expanded Dixie II with 8-position octave switch, suboctave out, a special new hard sync, and more control over FM and PWM.
Polaris – A versatile voltage controlled filter / phaser with 27 filter modes and asymmetric distortion.
Shipments are already en route to Control, Control Voltage, and Analogue Haven. The modules should be available from your other favourite retailers soon.

Watch for more exciting modules to be announced at NAMM 2016!"

"The µMIDI provides all the essentials to control and sync your Eurorack modular from your computer, iPhone/iPad, or hardware MIDI device with a minimum of fuss. No menu diving or configuration scripts, just two buttons. The connectivity, feature set, and compact size make the µMIDI ideal for integrating your modular with the rest of your rig while not taking up too much space in your case.

The upper clock section features a dedicated 16th note clock output ideal for synchronizing a Eurorack sequencer like the Metropolis. A second clock output with selectable divisions can be used when difference sync events are needed. The run and reset outputs can be used to reset your Eurorack sequencers in tandem with any external sequencer or DAW.

The lower half of the µMIDI gives you everything you need to control a single voice synth via MIDI. Just connect either a USB or DIN MIDI cable to the module, LEARN a channel, and start playing.

Future firmware updates over USB are made easy with the Firmware Updater software.

Features
High speed ARM processor for low latency & jitter.
DIN or USB MIDI input.
Two clock outputs, one with selectable divisions.
Sequencer sync via run and reset outputs.
Precision 0 – 10 V note pitch output with pitch bend & portamento CC support.
Gate and trigger outputs for envelope triggering.
Mod wheel and continuous controller outputs for additional modulation.
Firmware updates over USB."

"Dixie II+
Full-featured triangle core VCO/LFO
The Dixie II+ is a larger variant of the classic Dixie II. Using the same great triangle core oscillator, it adds a number of features to make it even more versatile with only a modest increase in size. The Dixie II+ makes a great primary oscillator for a modular system, or a great companion the Rubicon.

Features
8-position octave switch for quick setting of course tuning.
Fine tuning knob that turns to a coarse knob when in LFO mode.
Dual FM inputs, with FM1 attenuator and switch to select between exponential and linear mode.
Pulse width control with attenuator.
Reset to 0 V hard sync input, ideal for percussive sounds or modulation.
Flip sync circuit similar to but improved from the Dixie II.
6 waveform outputs: sine, triangle, zigzag, saw, pulse and suboctave."

"Polaris
Versatile Multimode VCF + Phaser
The Polaris is a 4-stage cascaded OTA filter designed by David Dixon. It’s built on the lineage of the Dr. Octature and Atlantis filters, but with a totally revised core and resonance control. Along with dedicated LP, HP and BP it outputs it features a configurable MULTI output capable of an unprecedented 27 different filter modes.

With drive turned down the Polaris is capable of buttery smooth filtering, and the cutoff control range has been fine tuned for playability. Turn up the drive and engage the multi distort asymmetric distortion circuit for a more aggressive sound. Not content to be just a filter, the Polaris’s AP phaser mode combined with frequency modulation can be used to achieve a phaser effect.

With so much versatility in a modest size, the Polaris is an ideal filter for a starter system and an excellent addition to the tonal palette of a larger modular.

Features
Dedicated LP, BP and HP outputs.
MULTI output with 27 selectable filter types: 4 x LP, 5x BP, 4 x HP, 5 x Notch, 4x AP and 4 x Phaser (AP mode with inverted dry blend).
Input drive control with soft clipping distortion.
MUTLI output asymmetric distortion."

No word if this is a one of synth. The details follow. It built by a Jim Smiley. This is the first post to feature him on MATRIXSYNTH, so not only do we have a new synth, but we also have a new maker on the site.

"Fully discrete 6 voice fully polyphonic analog polysynth.

12 oscillators, 6 filter envelopes, 6 VCA envelopes, based on a vintage monosynth, but updated with precision components.

LFO mod individually assignable to voices and filter.

Each oscillator individually detunable for huge vintage polysynyth sound.

Entirely handbuilt in recycled redgum by Jim Smiley.
