DSI Pro 2 + modular jam (Mother 32, Octocontroller, µVCF)

Published on Jul 11, 2016 Seen From Space

"The legato brassy notes are the modular, the Octocontroller LFOs unpredictably modulating both filters. The performance controls on the Pro 2 alter the oscillator balance and filters to give constant shifts in timbre. Just a touch of breathy choral pad from Omnisphere."

Elektron Monomachine - Factory Presets Demo

Published on Jul 11, 2016 Hellcore

"With the recent discontinuation of the Monomachine I decided to make a quick recording of the factory sounds. Presented by the single demo song that showcases the stock kits and patterns.

Played back from my March 2016 MKII, presumably from the last batch.

Long live Monomachine."

Defective Records Software Releases "DSX Hack" - Oberheim DSX Sequencer Editor for Mack & Windows

via Defective Records

"After an altogether too long development cycle, I'm happy to report that 'DSX Hack' is now available!

Available for both Mac and Windows, DSX Hack lets you program your Oberheim DSX sequencer without the need for a connected Oberheim synth, a previous limitation. Instead, you now program it using MIDI files and the software, which creates audio "squelch" that programs the DSX via its cassette input.

What's awesome about the DSX is that it has EIGHT pairs of CV/Gate outputs on the back, which the sequencer info can be routed to…. That's a whole lot of CV control in one box!

I'm indebted to the group of beta testers who helped me (many of whom are on this list), as well as to Marcus Ryle (CEO of Line 6 and the DSX's original designer), Paul White (Electrongate and former Oberheim), and Tom Oberheim himself (he pointed me to Marcus).

More info, video, demo version, etc… available on the site:

Tocante "Phashi" Solar Charging Touch Synthesizer by Ciat Lonbarde

"From Peter:

The Tocante line of musical instruments is "about" and "touching" the materials of electronics. Each touchpad represents a pitch according to industry "preferred numbers," chosen by old wartime engineers for non-musical purposes. Here they form a unique and haunting musical scale, not unlike that of a gamelan or the neutral intervals of Persian music. Beyond these base pitches, three golden sandrodes flank each touchpad; touching these androgynous nodes yields intermodulation, pitch and timbral shifts, and emergent chaotic masses. The instruments come in three flavors: thyris the triangle, bistab the square, and phashi the circle. The oscillators sound like a bowed string, a most powerful clarinet, and a howling serene whistle, respectively. Each responds to touch differently. Solar panels charge the onboard batteries, that power the oscillators and a speaker.
They are the perfect self-contained instrument for nightly music at the campground.

Specifications:

Dimensions: 28x8x2 centimeters.
Range: 24 notes, four octaves.
Power: 6x300mah NiMH cells.
Diffusion: 0.5watt speaker.
Output: 3.5mm mono audio jack.

Cloudy Day: 2.1mm tip-positive 12vdc power jack."

Korg MS-20 & MS-10 - "FrankenSynth" #1

Published on Jul 11, 2016 noddyspuncture

"Here is my Korg MS-20/MS-10 'FrankenSynth'. I bolted them together and installed a 5 octave keyboard with a few other custom modifications. In this video the synths are being sequenced... I'll be making another video soon where I will be playing it instead. I am using the PWM input I added to the MS-20 and also using the dedicated modulation depth wheel. This thing really is a beast...:)"

PATCH NOTES

============
For the greater part of this past year, I had intended on growing my 6U 208hp system into a 12U 416hp system. I had been hearing about the forthcoming Elite Modular ‘conversion top’ that adds a top section to the 6U 208 case to make a 12U system. Therefore my modular selection was always done with the future expansion in mind. But now, inspired by an upcoming month of travel and flights, I’ve decided to stay with the 208 for a little while.
