A very useful patch to recreate on your Kurzweil Pc3 the sound of "On the run", the song by Pink Floyd from 'The dark side of the moon' album.

WMD Fracture - Free Run and Oscillator Sync Demo

Published on Apr 18, 2018 WMDevices

"WMD Fracture is our second Eurorack Module aimed at creating percussion and drum sounds. However, it has a much wider range of sounds and uses than just snare, clap, and snaps for eurorack.

In this video, we explore the sounds created when using Fracture in it's free running oscillator mode as well as what it sounds like to sync it to another oscillator.

To enter free run oscillator mode, just put a static voltage above 2.3V (gate signal) into the INF input. The envelope will be disabled, and the module will run like an oscillator.

For the Sync Demo, we are running the Phase Displacement Oscillator (PDO MKii) into the Trig input on the Fracture. We have a sequence from Voltage block controlling the pitch of the PDO.

As there is so much sonic territory to explore with this module, we just kept the camera rolling.

*note* This is a stereo module but this demo was recorded using a mono interface so it is a monophonic recording. We'll post another demo of this use in stereo shortly.

Nord Modular vs. Octatrack generative madness

Published on Apr 18, 2018 0F.digital

Remember you can use the controls at the bottom of the player to jump around.

"DISCLAIMER: This video is intentionally more about long-form sound design and sample manipulation than lush melodic content.

I created a totally chaotic, generative Nord Modular G1 patch with a lot of cross-modulation and unorthodox synthesis/sequencing. It borders on noise, but there are some tonal elements as well. Basically some really good sampling material for the Octatrack.

I used several tracks on the OT to mangle various parts of the incoming audio, using both normal and one-shot trigs on a few track recorders. I've had the OT for over a year now and am still learning new things to do with it.. and still fumbling a bit, as you may notice!

Audio source is entirely synthesis from the Nord. Octatrack is sampling and providing effects. No external audio processing, apart from a light limiter.

No editing; this is a pretty self-indulgent video but it might be good to skip through and find some interesting parts. I'll probably edit this down and use it as the base for another track at some point.

Here's the Nord patch:

Roland SH-01a VS vintage Roland SH-101: head to head comparison test!!!

Published on Apr 18, 2018 gattobus

"I programmed the same patch on a Roland SH-01a and on the original vintage SH-101, then I recorded two identical loops and played it one after another... Can you tell which is which, before the end of the video? :D
There are some differences but anyway, I think the comparison is pretty impressive, isn' it?"

Logan Vocalist (1979) and friends - 70s french "special" movie soundtrack music

"(c) 2018 vintage synthesizer demo by RetroSound

Logan Vocalist - 37-note (F-F) monophonic and polyphonic analog choir synthesizer from the year 1979

Rare like stardust and maybe one of the most interesting human voice synths ever.

Made in Italia.

The sound is a bit like the Roland VP-330 human voice section but you have a lot more possiblities with the 3 vowel filters (aaaa----oooo----uuuuu), the envelopes and mixing the different sounds.
Unique sound and very characterful like a Mellotron or Vocoder.

The demo track shows the human voice sounds together with other instruments from the golden age of synthesizers.

analog choir sounds: Logan Vocalist (1979)
bass, sample/hold and theremin sound: Moog Source (1981)
analog strings: Roland VP-330 Vocoder Plus (1979)
drums: Korg KR-55B (1982)

recording: multi-track, played by hand
fx: reverb and delay"
