First Pics and Details on Behringer's EDP WASP Deluxe Desktop Synth Priced at 298.99

This one was spotted and sent in via Bill of Ampersand Posture.

Details:

"A Stinging Cult Classic Reborn

A faithful reproduction of the cult classic digital-analog hybrid synth, the Behringer Wasp monophonic synth has the bone-rattling lows and searing highs that made its predecessor infamous in esoteric synth circles. True to its name, the Wasp excels at droney, buzzy synth sounds, emanating from its two digital oscillators, distinctive analog VCF with highpass, lowpass, notch, and bandpass modes, noise generator, and a hive full of modulation capabilities. The Wasp can generate three variable oscillator shapes —pulse, ramp, and enhanced mode, with pulse width modulation on OSC1. OSC2 swaps out pulse width control for pitch, so you can dial up warbly, detuned chorus effects, or tune the oscillator to intervals for pseudo-polyphony. A unique LFO with six selectable waveforms and pitch and frequency mod controls and the Wasp's two analog envelope generators open up vast signal manipulation possibilities. Synthesists at Sweetwater are psyched to add this rarified legend to their synth arsenals. Gnarly, aggressive, and completely idiosyncratic, Behringer's Wasp is all the buzz!

Eurorack and Poly Chain Compatible
The Behringer Wasp can be used as a desktop module or integrated into a Eurorack system, with an 80HP footprint, and integrated it into your MIDI setup via 5-pin DIN or USB-MIDI. Featuring Behringer's Poly Chain capability, the Wasp can be combined with multiple synthesizers for up to 16 voice polyphony. It also includes an external in, so you can shape and mangle guitars, vocals, drum machines, and more with the Wasp's inimitable filters and modulators.

Novation Circuit - Willing Spirit

Published on Nov 19, 2019 Silver Reef

"I started this track with the idea of creating something inspired by Steve Reich's 'Music For 18 Musicians'. It didn't end up very much like the inspiration, but I think it turned out okay! The first patch is from Cuckoo's Circuit pack, the second is homemade, and the samples are from the factory Circuit pack. What I like about many of Cuckoo's patches are that they utilize the noise oscillator, which I think adds an organic feel that fills out a lot of the track, which is especially useful when you only have two synth tracks to work with.

All sounds are coming from the Circuit. Mastering with Ozone 8 Elements. Recorded on Canon 80D."

"Strange modulated output from PPG Wave 2.3"

"Alright, before y'all start posting this listing on your forums and social media groups saying "ermergerd! look at this $6k PPG Wave 2.3 that doesn't even work", most of y'all have never played a PPG Wave and don't know the magic that lives inside it. Nothing, NOTHING, sounds like a PPG Wave except a PPG Wave.

OK, I bought this dude back in 2007. I ordered the V8.3 system along with new LCD backlight and knob covers from Virtual Music in Austria. I had my local tech install said parts, but never could get proper audio out of it - just seach YouTube for "PPG Wave Strange Output", that's this very synth. You can also see the keyboard doing the "PPG Wave" also known as Austin Powers' teeth. It's going to need rebushing like every other synth with a Pratt-Read keyboard.

Again, with the "ermergehrd!", why is shipping so high. Again, you boneheads don't know how fragile these synths are. I sold a Wave 2.2 to Calvin Harris a few years ago. I build a crate out of OSB and secured it to a shipping pallet and shipped it via motor freight so that it would not be handled improperly. I will ship this the same way.

If no one buys it, good. Maybe someday I will find a tech that can bring it 100% functionality.

Be sure to check out my other listings for more electronic musical instruments."

"This is a rare modular synthesizer that was only made for a short time before Blue Lantern went into Eurorack equipment. This is a particularly great place to start for anyone who is new to the modular world. I'm also including a separate module that includes a VCA and two separate filters, one of which models an Oberheim. It can be attached or detached to the synth as seen in the pictures. All power supplies included, and I'll throw in a pack of ~20 patch cables anywhere from 5" to 2' long. I picked it up with the intention of getting into modular stuff about a year ago, but just haven't had the time. It has some scratches and stuff that are cosmetic, but I'd call it like a 8/10 overall.

The oscillators are pretty aggressive sounding, it's a pretty beastly sound so this isn't meant to create silky atmospheric pads. They also tend to waver around, maybe as far as 30 cents or so. It's likely a simple calibration fix, but I'm not the type of person to tinker around with equipment. For that reason, I think it's more fun as a sound designer, but if you're looking to make some really interesting, experimental music then I suppose it'd be good for that too. Anyway, that's why I'm selling it for so cheap.
