Carol of the Nymphes

video upload by ProckGnosis

"A one-synth tune with the Dreadbox Nymphes. Move to 02:33 to skip the opening babble and brewski bit. Skip to 06:24 to hear just clips and bits of the Nymphes used in the song without any affects.

Can't say the world needed ANOTHER version of this song, but here it goes anyway, 'cause it is a seriously cool tune. Intention was to keep it in classic analog synth territory, so the arrangement is also fairly straight forward.

Despite some of the negative comments I've read, I've found the Nymphes fairly easy to navigate for the majority of programming parameters. For assigning modulations it's one of the easiest synths I've used."

Gen X-1 Merry Gentlemen - Xmas Synth Cover

video upload by ChrisLody

"Merry Christmas 2021!

I'm quite busy at the moment making presets for the Sonicware Liven Bass & Beats so I only have time for a quickie. I've been working with Dubreq a bit more this year making some Stylophone promotional videos. I made this one oas an experiment, but a different direction was decided so it was left on the cutting room floor. Shame to let it go to waste though here is a very short Xmas synth cover.

It's two layers of Gen X-1 with some funky drum loops from my vault plus some jingle bells for good measure :)"

Door #24: Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht (Silent Night, Holy Night) - Synthmas '21

video upload by Synthfluencer

"Ho-Ho-Ho! This is Synthmas '21, the virtual calendar presenting a Christmas carol played by synthesizers - every day from 1st to 24th of December.

The song:
Maybe the best world's known Christmas carol, this song premiered in 1818 in Salzburg/Austria on the 24th. Unesco made it into intangible cultural heritage in 2011.

The gear:
I wanted to add something special to the last performance of my Synthmas calendar. What else could I choose than the Moog Claravox Centennial theremin. I was in doubt if I really should do a performance; we got that instrument 3 weeks ago and I could'nt really practice since then. So, I'm absolutely far away from being able to play the theremin in a decent manner. But so what, please don't be hard on me judging my very first steps with this tricky to play instrument.

In the second part as a littel redemption, the Yamaha CS-5 and Kawai S100F take over the lead voice. The Japanese duo is routed through the MODX fattening the sound with some bread & butter effects. Also this time I got the Kawai in tune, in a recent video the synth's tuning drifted away beyond measure. Instead I lost focus on the levels when I recorded the track. Sorry for the distorted pieces.

I wish all of you a peaceful Christmas time and I hope you enjoyed my cheesy little Synthmas calendar '21

"Hi my Deckard's Voice from Black Corporation just arrived and i started playing immediately! I love how it sounds! (yes is 1 voice modular synth from the poly Deckard's Dream aka CS80 replica).
So i setup an 84 hp with Morphagene, Mimeophon, Z5000 and a little Doepfer stereo mixer.Every sounds you hear comes from the Deckard, also the drone that is a sampled part of the D.V. processed in to Morphagene. The sequence come from the MPC One (that is out of camera view).
Hope you like this module as i do!"

Ornament & Crime | Episode 03 | Meta-Q + Microtonal Scales

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"You probably know what a pitch quantizer is. If not, there's a short explanation. A pitch quantizer use any CV source and turn it into musical notes. They usually stick to semitones or maybe even scales, but Ornament & Crime also offers a wide range of microtonal scales from all over the world. Microtonal scales have notes that can 'sit between' our western twelve tone system so they may sound out of key. But that's also what makes a melody sound exotic and magical."

Bastl Kastle Drum meets the Novation Circuit Rhythm

video upload by Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video Nick Bigelow from Patchwerks builds a track from scratch by sampling sounds from Bastl Kastle Drum with the Novation Circuit Rhythm.

The Kastle Drum is a special edition of Bastl’s classic mini modular synth focusing on algorithmic industrial glitchy drums. Drum sound synthesis with a unique dynamic acceleration charged envelope makes this rhythm box surprisingly versatile and extremely fun to play. The built-in VC clock generator with a stepped pattern sequencer can either run on its own or it can be synchronized to analog clock, while retaining the triangle LFO for parameter modulation. The Kastle Drum is a mini modular synthesizer with a headphone output, 2 in/out ports for interfacing other gear, and it runs on just 3 AA batteries. It is ideal for beginners in modular synthesis, but it will add some quite unique functionality to any modular synthesizer system. It delivers the fun of modular synthesis at a low price and fits into your pocket so you can play it anywhere!

'Circuit Rhythm is a versatile sampler for making and performing beats. Record samples directly to the hardware, then slice, sculpt and resample your sounds effortlessly. Capture your groove quantised or off-grid into the sequencer, and layer up across eight sample tracks. Invigorate your live set with performance FX: embrace imperfection with lo-fi tape, stutter your mix with beat repeat, and more. Integrate Circuit Rhythm into your studio, or unplug and create anywhere utilising the built-in rechargeable battery.' -Novation

a-ha - Take On Me VST ! - OP-X PRO-II

video upload by virtualoberheim

"A more analog sounding cover of this iconic track. The used sounds can be downladed as bank on this site: https://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/...

In the original track the bass came from a DX-7 and the lead was a PPG Wave layered with a Juno-60.

In this cover video all sounds except for the choir (Steinberg Halion One) are coming from OP-X PRO-II and so sound a bit warmer and fuller.
