The history of the Roland Alpha Juno, rave hoover sound and techno stabs.

video upload by Estuera

"The Roland Alpha Juno is the last analog Juno that Roland released. After its launch in 1985 it didn't really make a big impact but it ended up to be a true techno and rave classic.
Especially patch M-86: "What the" made the Alpha Juno really famous in the early 90s.

In the video I'll take a look at the history and sound of this classic programmable polyphonic synthesizer by Roland.

10:50 Is the Alpha Juno still worth it in 2021 ?"

Roland JP-8080: Trance like we're back in 1999!

video upload by Estuera

"The JP-8080 is the rack version of the JP-8000, Roland's first venture into virtual analog. Its a pretty great synth overall but it got its place in dance music history thanks to the 'super saw' oscillator.
100s of trance classics were made using this synth, does it still have the same magic 25 years later?

Chapters:
0:00 Intro
0:59 A bit of history
1:59 Sound demos, presets and newly created patches
9:21 JP-8080 features

The Running Man Theme - Recreation

video upload by Luke Million

"Always been a fan of Harold Faltermeyer's soundtrack work in the 80's. He scored one of my favourite films - The Running Man.

Here is my take on the main theme using a Prophet 5, Juno 106, Arp Odyssey and CP70. 🏃‍♂️🎹🏃‍♂️"

Cosmotronic Peradam eurorack overdrive

video upload by John Schussler

"The Peradam is an overdrive module with a unique architecture: rather than just overdriving the signal into a square wave, it makes a copy of the source audio and then manipulates it to modulate the original signal.

If you really want to understand how it works, the architecture diagram in the manual is probably your best bet. tl;dr: it's complicated.

But you don't have to understand how it works to move the knobs and sliders and get interesting results. That's basically what this video is: me moving around knobs and sliders to get a basic feel for what kind of sounds the module makes.

Source audio: SE Oscillation. Sequence: Stochastic IG. Envelope: Zadar.

00:00 Intro
00:20 Sweeps
03:20 Sequence, drive off
07:45 Drive on
13:28 Square wave, sub
15:00 Faster sequence
16:00 FM"

See this post for additional details on the Cosmotronic Peradam.
