You might remember the recent break-in at Malekko Heavy Industries posted here, and on Malekko.

Joshua Holley is selling his Sequential Prophet-5 Rev3.2 previously owned by the late Dwayne Goettel of Skinny Puppy to recoup funds.

From the lising:

"Ugh, this suuucks...but here we go.

Up for sale is Dwaynes old P5 Rev 3.2 (no MIDI)

I purchased this a while back non functioning and restored it back to playing condition. I left the keyboard chassis and keys with black spots from touring back in the day so it's super cool to see. The keys aren't perfectly level..for some reason I decided to keep it as close to original as possible...just functioning perfectly. cEvin signed it and dated 2003..its still there and puts a smile on my face when I play it. The only reason I'd consider selling this is due to a theft at my shop..there will be lots if instruments up for sale. Read about it in the link below."

Therevox Ondes VCO + Hakken Continuumini

video upload by John Schussler

"My uCVC module has arrived from Evaton Tech. It's a CV converter that takes the USB output of the Hakken Audio Continuumini (little sibling to the Hakken Continuum keyboard) and breaks it into usable CV outputs.

I got it specifically to use with the Ondes VCO, because the original Ondes Martenot after which the Ondes VCO is modelled used a...well what to me appears to be a ring on a string. So a continuous pitch movement rather than quantized by keys. I already had the Continuumini, so figured it should be a perfect match.

This is me running through the various voices on the Ondes VCO and different pitch ranges on the Continuumini to see what we get.

For a sequencer-based demo, see my earlier video on the Ondes VCO:"

Ondes VCO from Therevox - Ondes Martenot in Eurorack format

video upload by

"This is a first look at the Ondes VCO. It just arrived, and I'm so pleasantly surprised by the sound that I figured I'd put a quick video up so others can hear it as well.

It's not a 'standard' VCO. Based on the Ondes Martenot, each of its voices are, on the one hand, traditional (sine, square, triangle), and on the other specifically treated to give a sound that's unique. And because it allows for onboard mixing of waves, all sorts of variety is possible.

I'll dig in deeper later, but for now, have a listen to some of the very particular voices that come out of this module.

Yamaha SY35 FM/AWM Synthesizer - Part 3 - Programming

video upload by Runningonair

Yamaha SY35 FM/AWM Synthesizer Runningonair posts

"In this video I get into the programming and try to come with a few decent sounds.

I also created an accompanying track, which just uses sounds from the SY35 (plus a vocal sample). The majority of effects are from the SY35 too. I have added compression and EQ, as well as doing a basic mastering job.

Let me know what you think of the synth in comments. I've been pleasantly surprised by it!"

Melatonin Sine Machine Additive Synthesizer w/ Hundreds of Oscillators

video uploads by Melatonin

via Melatonin

"Sine Machine is a new kind of additive synth

Sine Machine’s engine delivers an order of magnitude more oscillators than is reasonable for any synthesizer to have.

Hundreds of dots light up as you play. Each dot is an active oscillator. But don’t worry, they’ll only sip CPU…

Want the odd harmonics to fade out faster? Want to delay the upper harmonics? You can sculpt your dream sound with the envelope editor and visualize each change you make to your sound.

Be a control freak

Want to set the release time for Harmonic 14 to exactly 2.9 seconds?

You can do that. Each harmonic has its own amplitude envelope (DADSHR).

Play it by ear

Sometimes you just want to play. Thousands of knobs can be daunting…. especially when half of them don’t seem to change the sound at all!

Sine Machine lets you see and hear every change. There’s no need to remember where the One Knob That Actually Does Something is hiding (currently, there are no knobs at all).

Rooted in psychoacoustics

From the default 1/f amplitude profile of the volume bars to morphing exponential curves of envelopes — each parameter is custom ranged and tuned to help you make beautiful sounds for other humans.

Built from first principles
This is not a kitchen sink collection of off-the-shelf dsp building blocks.

Effects aren’t the same-old audio effects slapped on top. They are an intimate part of the synthesis engine itself. This gives you access to brand new sonic frontiers and per-harmonic effects never before possible.

Just a Microsecond

Sine Machine’s performance tolerances are measured in μs.

The engine is backed by hundreds of automated tests running across dozens of sample rates on MacOS, Windows and Linux.

Cleanest oscillators in town

Digital wavetable and FM synths work hard to filter and hack around noisy aliasing. Sine Machine is in full control of each and every harmonic, so it’s trivial to never produce a frequency over Nyquist."

Open Source Critter & Guitari 201 Musical Synthesizer - Kickstarter!

video upload by

via Kickstarter

"We’re Critter & Guitari and we’re happy to announce our newest synthesizer: the 201! If you’re familiar with our other musical instruments such as the Pocket Piano, Organelle, Bolsa Bass, or Kaleidoloop, we hope you’ll see that the 201 fits right in with them: the 201 is fun, portable, and packed with a medley of musical magic!

The 201 is nearly pocket size, but don't let its small size fool you! Under the hood is some powerful circuitry that will allow you to explore your musical ideas quickly and easily. Let's take a look...

Sounds

At the heart of the 201 are six sound engines providing a wide range of sonic texture. Use the shift key to select an engine.

There is a little bit of everything: chiptune style waveforms, analog style filters, drum samples, realistic physical instrument models, and even a human vocal synthesizer.

Use the three center control knobs to further explore the sounds. Dial in the right amount of sustain, or adjust the tone. Or turn the 'surprise' knob if you are brave:

Patterns

Play directly on the keyboard or turn on one of the pattern generators. From simple octave arpeggiation to randomizing polyphonic patterns you will be inspired by the notes coming out of the 201! Use the first control knob to set the pattern's tempo.

The pattern generators also work great for creating drum beats using the drum samples!

Sequencer

If you like the way something sounds, recording it is just a button press away!

There is a handy metronome that you can play/record along with. When the sequence is playing back you can endlessly change the pattern and synth engine. When you get it just right, hit the save button. You can save 'unlimited' sequences (well... not really unlimited, but many thousands).

Connectable

The 201 wants to be friends with all your other gear! It works great with guitar effects pedals and amps.

With MIDI in and out you can control other synthesizers with the 201, or the other way around.

A USB-C connector lets you easily move files on and off the instrument.

Open Source

Critter & Guitari is committed to making musical electronics that are open platforms. Like our Organelle and EYESY instruments, the 201 is built entirely with Open Source software.

Inside, the 201 uses a combination of Pure Data and Faust musical programming environments. Users are invited to modify or create new sound engines!"

Noise Sketch #285 Uranus (Papa Srapa, Knas Moisturizer, Blippoo Box, Death by Audio TSA2)

And a live recording by Eduard 'Papa Srapa' Srapionovvia https://radio.syg.ma:

"Live recording by Eduard 'Papa Srapa' Srapionov (b. 1961), an innovative and eccentric Russian experimental/noise sound artist from Rostov-on-Don, primarily known as a designer and creator of peculiar DIY synthesizers, electroacoustic instruments, and various music/non-music interactive objects and sculptures, often built from junk, cheap toys, household items, etc.

Srapionov began his career in the eighties as an audio/light engineer and stage technician for Valery Posidelov's band Day and Evening («День и Вечер»), as well as a bassist for several jazz ensembles and rock groups – most notably, Zazerkalje. Since the early 2000s, Papa Srapa began performing solo with an array of unique self-built electroacoustic instruments, synthesizers, drum machines, effects processors, heavily modified turntable with prepared records, and various unidentifiable sound objects.

Most of his recordings are self-released on CDr – often each copy has a unique handmade artwork and cover design. Papa Srapa also released a few limited edition albums on Ginjoha (Japan), Kotä and Nazlo Records (Russia)."
