7/16/23 DEMO: Maestro Rhythm King MKIV (for sale) chops TTMC and Trogotronic

video upload by Cfpp0

"This Rhythm King is the true King of rhythm machines because it has an internal modulation circuit that gates your external audio to correspond to the pattern of the beat. You have control over the modulation depth and volume. You have control over the beat volume and the balance between drums or cymbals. You can combine more than one pattern to generate new patterns. For this demo I am playing continuous notes on the TTMC 112, which CVS the 158 oscillators, and the 112 gates the Trogotronic m11 and also sends pressure to the drive input. The output goes to a 106 then to a passive Rucci matrix mixer (I was going to make the modulation circuit feedback on itself a bit, which sounds cool BTW) and into the modulation circuit where the Rhythm King slices and dices."

"This is a rare Maestro Rhythm King Mark 4. It is VERY different from the more common and more colorful Maestro Rhythm King (we have it too if you want to buy it). The biggest difference is that the MKIV has an external audio input, which gets fed into a gate circuit that follows the rhythmic patterns of the preset pattern you choose on the drum machine. Check the video in our photos and cut to 2:45 to see and hear how it works.

You can blend the drum sound using a fader to go fully hats, to be mostly kick and toms, or anywhere in between. The volume for the external audio has its own volume fader, as does the drum volume, so you can also use it just to modulate audio and not use the drums. There is also a blend fader for the gate on the external audio, so you can dial in how much of an abrupt cut you want."

The successor to the widely acclaimed Elmyra, Elmyra 2 is a 4-voice digital/analog hybrid drone synthesizer and platform for microtonal sonic exploration, capable of creating anything from lush ambient soundscapes to gritty droning textures and shrieking noises, available as a 42 HP Eurorack module or semi-modular desktop synth. With 31 modulation targets, 4 polymetric sequencers, delay, additional per-voice effects, a choice of various filters, as well as onboard LFOs and utilities, it is essentially a purpose-built small modular system in itself. A set of preset cards (included) or electronic components like capacitors or diodes can be plugged into the front panel in order to change the sound character.

Feature overview:

4 independent voices activated by touch or CV
wavetable-based complex oscillator engine, up to 12 oscillators in total, 1V/octave compatible
chromatic mode makes chords and harmonic sounds possible, microtonal scales supported
41 patch points
31 modulation targets
touchpads with analog envelopes that can be used as modulation sources
resonant filter switchable between:
boomy and aggressive multimode 2-pole state variable filter (low-pass, band-pass, high-pass)
creamy 4-pole low-pass ladder filter
delay with unhealthy amounts of feedback
lo-fi reverb
analog OUCH circuit: a unique combination of destructive distortion, waveshaping and filtering
sonic character can be customised by using special preset cards (set of 4 included) or components like diodes that can be plugged into the front panel
preset cards can be used with other Neutral Labs modules
external audio can be processed via audio input
9 per-voice modulations and effects:
unison detune
dual sub-oscillators
saturation
bitmangler
sample rate reduction
noise
high-pass filter
low-pass filter
2 LFOs: 1 sine, 1 complex morphable
4 sequencers with arbitrary step length per voice (up to 128), allows polymetric structures
delay time and LFOs can be clock-synced or unsynced (tap tempo is also possible)
utilities
dual attenuator/buffered multiple/voltage generator
CV summing circuit
case made of plant-based bioplastic and native German oak wood
boutique synth handmade in Germany

Funk LeBlanc - Sequential Circuits Drumtraks and Prophet 6 Sound Demonstration

video upload by Funk LeBlanc

"♥️ Support the funk, check out the store, and get the coolest stickers in town!! https://funkleblanc.com 😎

I really love Sequential Circuits. When I heard that Dave Smith was going to come out with a completely new polyphonic synth, I had to have it. I got inspired to create an original song only using the Sequential Prophet 6 and the Sequential Circuits Drumtraks."

Gearfest UK 2023: Novation FLKey 49 - Control For FL Studio

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Chris Calcutt from Novation at Gear Fest 2023, where he introduced the FL Key 49, an expansion of Novation's FL Key range. The FL Key 49 offers more keys and additional features compared to the previous models, addressing the demand for larger keyboard options.

It provides a comprehensive level of control over FL Studio, with dedicated hardware access to the channel rack, sequencer, and various functions. Chris demonstrated the seamless integration between the FL Key 49 and FL Studio, highlighting the advantages of hands-on control and the elimination of reliance on the mouse.

Gearfest UK 2023: Void and Vista Strands

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Tom from Void and Vista at Gear Fest 2023, where he introduced their Strands Kontakt instrument. Strands is a unique Kontact-based instrument that features 32 sound sources over two layers, blending real instrument articulations with effects-driven textures.

It has a full effects engine, dual filters with switchable modes, two LFOs with cross-modulation, voice stacking with detuning and width, a dedicated lo-fi section, and a three-stage effects chain.

Tom emphasized the character and atmospheric nature of Strands, highlighting its strengths in pads, atmospheres, textures, and bass sounds.

The library is designed to provide a variety of organic and unconventional sounds, utilizing close-mic techniques and a range of sound manipulation techniques. Strands is available for purchase directly from Void and Vista's website for £129, and the company has plans for future releases.

Gearfest UK 2023: Korg's New Nautilus AT On Show

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Luke Edwards from Korg UK at Gear Fest 2023, where he showed us the just released the Nautilus AT, an upgraded version of the Nautilus workstation with the addition of Aftertouch.

The Nautilus AT offers expressive control with assignable Aftertouch, allowing users to add extra nuance and variation to their playing.

Available in 88 and 61-key options, the Nautilus AT retains the nine engine architecture from the Kronos, including sampling, piano, electric piano, and legacy synth engines like the MS-20 and Poly-6.

The Nautilus AT serves as Korg's current flagship workstation."

Gearfest UK 2023: PWM Mantis Synth Is Coming Along

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Paul and Ben from PWM at Gear Fest 2023, where they provided an update on their Mantis synthesizer. The Mantis project was initially started by Chris Huggett, and Ben has taken over the firmware development since Chris's passing. The Mantis is now in a working state and producing impressive sounds. Ben discussed the challenges of refining the code and turning the proof of concept into a fully functional product, addressing features like the multi-mode filter and ensuring compatibility for production. Paul mentioned that the firmware and sound patching would require a few more months of development before moving into mass production. The Mantis is expected to be available for purchase in October, just in time for the pre-Christmas rush."
