On/Off/In/Out (Clavia Nord Modular G1)

YouTube via GruithuisenCityMan — April 02, 2010 — "Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie and this music. The music has been made entirely with a Clavia Nord Modular G1 in one take (all sounds, sequences and rythms programmed by myself) and has been a little bit edited with Audacity (very short stereo delay added) . The virtual images have been created with Gephex. Enjoy !"

1Song1Week1Year - Week14 - 2nd Q

YouTube via DJDJSMusic — April 02, 2010 — "Starting the second quarter of 2010 with a dance track!
For all my talk of samples and drum loops last week I have used only the Tenori-On's pre-set sounds for this week's song. But I still think this is one of my better songs - Say I modestly :)

Let me know what you think.

YouTube via neutron7 — April 02, 2010 — "New controls and modulators have been added.

Smule Magic Piano for the iPad

"Inspired by the world-renowned pianist Lang Lang, Magic Piano was conceived and designed exclusively for the iPad by Smule, creators of Ocarina, Leaf Trombone, and I Am T-Pain.

Play timeless pieces on spiral and circular keyboards, or follow beams of light – mastery requires only imagination.

Play alone, or travel through a warp hole and duet with other Magic Pianists across the world.

Available exclusively on the iPad. Limited sale of $2.99 (expires on Mozart's birthday).

Smule’s newest app is a playful whimsical musical experience designed to delight iPad users. Impress your friends with how quickly you’ve mastered “Flight of the Bumblebee” and “Fur Elise”, or just amuse yourself playing “Heart and Soul”. You get to determine what your keyboard looks like – if a standard piano has too many keys, you can reduce the number to what works for you. And why does the keyboard have to be a straight line, when a circle is much more fun?

You can play preloaded songs by following beams of light – and set the difficulty level depending on your Magic Piano expertise or your mood. Want to just practice timing without working about key position? Go for it. If you want a slightly more traditional experience, you can set the Piano to respond to your hand placement. And if you’re tired of playing alone, you can venture into the world.

Travel around the Smule Globe to find other Piano users. Simply select “duet mode” and Magic Piano will create warp holes, and connect you with Pianists. You can play back and forth for a bit, and then the roulette wheel will spin again and you’ll meet another new person. If you want to stay connected to a single individual, just say so, and you can play back and forth to your heart’s content. And if you’d rather just listen into other player’s duets, you can do that too."

It looks like the third app in the video in this post was the Magic Piano after all.

Roland Mailbox spotted in SoCal

Oberheim SEM Analog Synthesizer

via this auction

"Cosmetics aside this is one of the best analog synths ever made, it DOES sound better than the new SEM. I've owned the new SEM and greatly prefer the old one over the new (the new is still really good though) but nothing quite the original. The original sounds more liquidy and warm, it has a buzzier bubblier sounding filter and the oscillators drift more."

JUNOST-21 - soviet guitar-like poly synth

via this auction

samples at the auciton and http://ruskeys.net/

"Here description from the "A-Z of Analogue Synthesizers" book by Peter Forrest:
JUNOST'21: Polyphonic 48-note (F-E) strap-on velocity-sensitive synth with mod grip.
- Fairly unique, since most synths of this type are mainly monophonic.
- The mod grip has volume and pitch-bend wheels, and unison/chorus switch.
- Sliders on the main synth body for LFO depth, speed, delay, routing to filter or VCO. VCF and VCA each with AD envelope.
- Presets: three banks of four. Two-digit LED. Din connectors for mains and audio out. External PSU; very long lead. The keyboard itself weighs 6.5 kg."

Oberheim OB-1

via this auction

"The OB-1 is a simple and great monophonic synth from Oberheim based on the same synth architecture as the SEM. Released in 1978, it was the first truly programmable analog synth of it's time with 8 program memories. Classic and fat sounding bass & lead synth sounds. It has two analog oscillators and a very capable 2 or 4 pole switchable VCF filter that sounds great, and a good LFO that can control the VCA or VCF."

Roland ProMars Compuphonic (MRS-2)

via this auction

"The promars is basically a monophonic version of the fantastic Jupiter 4. However, while it lacks the four voice polyphony of the JP-4, it has one major advantage: CV and gate inputs."
